I think you are overthinking it mate. Since this was in the morning the grafts should have already had some time to start getting attached to the scalp so I doubt it would make any difference.

Spraying Saline for example contains water so it doesnt really dislodge any grafts, by the same standards the PH balance or watheaver you call it shouldnt really have any effect in your folicles and like Archan said, if you havent seen blood its because youre fine. Just make sure to be carefull next time.

And by very simple logic had the force of the shower been of any significance it should have dislodged the hair grafts and if it has not that means no grafts have been dislodged isn't it ?

I know I accidentally very lightly touched a graft by mistake right after surgery. I didnt see any hairs coming out nor blood, it was very light and you wouldnt even notice it.

I Called the doctor and said it was fine. So you should be aswell, I even talked to the nurse the day after and she told me not to worry cause the doctor already checked it and it was fine.

Little things can make us worry I understand, but try to move on from it and think ahead. Once the graft is implanted, it requires a bit of force even after transplantation to be dislodged, its not like its suddently made of paper.

And what about Shower Water falling on it, Can that have any hindrance in the Hair Graft t Growth ! Like because of high Alkaline in water or different. In PH balance or whatever immediately after the Procedure. ? And that can contaminate it ? Which the graft is not ready for it ? 🙂

@augustya You are fine my friend ..if grafts would have been dislodged than you would have seen blood on your scalp....they don't get dislodge so easily...so don't worry ...

Does that even happens ? Would the oozing of blood would have also happened on the 2nd day ? which I was 16 Hours Later into my procedure ?

Dude, you're fine trust me. I had that happen to me sometimes and they dont' really dislodge that easy.

Light touches to your grafts won't make them dislodged, I know this by first hand experience. So long as you don't see blood you're in the clear but of course its best to make sure you protect them as best as you can.

I know Man ! This is my 4th attempt and even after that these small incidents rattle me. After all it is with so much of passion one gets this thing done.

I was and I am always told by my treating Doctor. The night on the HT Procedure is very critical as the grafts are very loose even a small jerk can dislodge it but the next morning it is a diffrent ball game altogether. Hopefully I was in that Zone where this small fall of water would have not caused any harm. But who knows ? I But I am so pissed off with myself that even after taking so much of care being so much vigilant how the freakin hell did this happen. Uggh !!

  5. Hi Guys,

So finally took the plunge of doing a Hair Transplant Touch Up procedure. Had some 500 odd Hair Grafts planted in the Hairline and around Mid-Scalp region. But there was this incident that happened with me which is kind of is unnerving me and I thought let me the community here what do you think if according to you guys does it sound like a potential issue ? which may affect the end result or not ?

So my procedure got over at 5:30 PM in the evening and till about next day 10 AM in the morning all went well, so after about 16 Hours the next day what happened was I stepped in the bathroom not realising that the overhead shower lever was in a working mode and not the below Tap Water. So when I pulled the water Lever some water from the over head shower fell on my head which I think passed through the transplanted area on my Hairline and Mid-Scalp. There was no oozing of blood or no obvious bleeding, also no evident hair graft popping out or getting lose, atleast not to the naked eye. Do you think this incident of shower water passing through the Transplanted area would cause any difference to the end result ?

Some water passing through the transplanted area that too after 16 Hours ? What I am worried about is not the water which fell but the force of water which could have potentially dislodged the hair grafts. Which doesnt look to the Naked eye. Got it checked with my brother also. Should I be worrying ? If not, why not ? What would have been the case where I should have been worrying about it.

How many you can get depends a lot on how aggressive you are willing to be. Are you OK with using as much as possible and not being able to grow a beard, are you willing to go beyond the underneath area and use some hair from the sideburns and/or frontal chin area, etc. For example, Gatsby who posted above me got a lot of grafts from the sideburn area which allowed him to get a lot more than if he were to stay mostly under the chin.

Well to begin with I am not a Man blessed with a lot of Beard Hair, so Beard Hair is a rare commodity for me. So I don’t know going aggressive is going to help anything because there has to be some goods to be delivered. Yes, Side Locks would have been one desirable and promising area which would have something exciting in store for me, but sadly I have been told the Max that we can get out of there is 70 or 90 Hair Grafts and that’s it. This is including both the sides SideLocks.

    @augustya,

I agree with some of the other members who said that your beard looks a bit sparse and since hair is often taken slightly below the jawbone in order to minimize the appearance of scarring, you may have a couple hundred (300ish) grafts that could be harvested for transplanting based on the photos I’m seeing.

Now, this is just strictly my opinion as a patient advisor and not an assessment by Dr. Rahal.

But based on information I’ve collected and actual assessments by Dr. Rahal on other patients, i’d venture a guess that you may have somewhere between 200 to 400 hairs available for transplanting from the beard.

    I hope this helps.

    Rahal Hair Transplant

When you say below the Jawbone you mean to say Shadow area right ? But are you suggesting your best bet would be 300 or 400 ? because we are talking a difference of 100 Hair Grafts and for a Person looking to cover his balding head this mean a lot of Grafts and hold  a lot of significance 🙂

So would you say I can push for even 400 Hair Grafts from the Beard even if it is looking slightly tight there around 300 ?

Sorry it’s really weak. 1000 grafts might mean they want to completely take out your beard. I don’t know if that’s what you want.

Eugenix are particularly good at taking from the beard area, this may include other areas apart from the usual directly under the chin. As you’re beard seems to have more to the left and right of this area then homogenised extraction could actually leave it looking more uniform. Dr Umar is another that has a long history of Beard/BHT extractions in higher numbers.
Im always interested in Beard extraction cases as it’s something im also looking at doing.
I remember being told that my beard could have 300 grafts taken be one Dr, and then 4000 grafts by Eugenix 😂 quite the difference…

Seeing it in person would be the only way to know for sure, but yeah maybe 600-800…?

Yes, I think we spoke only about the Shadow area, So even the Dr was a bit hesitant in suggesting we will be able to go pass 500 Beard Grafts in my case. But someone also told me 800 that got me all pepped up and excited !! Hence confirming here.

  9. Hi Guys,

Asking this for a Family Member. Does anyone know about this ? A Close Family Member has been diagnosed with Stomach Cancer and as a result she is undergoing Chemo Therapy Sessions and she is losing almost all her Hair. I am curious to find out, these Hair that have fallen during the Chemo Therapy Sessions do they fall from the Roots or do they just fall from the surface of the Scalp and not the Follicle or roots ? Does anyone know about this ?

  10. Hi Guys,

I am looking for some refilling of Hair Grafts in my Hairline areas to compliment my earlier Procedure.

I wanted to know from you guys. I have taken some pictures of my hairline and area where I want these Hair Grafts to be placed. So I have gone ahead and used my own judgement and imagination on if I were to place Grafts in the area, I wish to touch up now. How many Hair Grafts would would it take? I wanted a count.

Can you guys have a look at these pictures and please tell me do you agree with the slits/red dots that I have done ? As in I have done it the most realistic way a HT surgeon would do and the count comes to around 260 Hair Grafts for near the Hairline.

What do you guys think ?

Yes I do notice some hair while i take a shower however it's extremely minimal and sometimes it's absolutely nil. So not sure. Maybe the rate at which it's gng to shed would be slower than usual (I hope so :p).

Mind you some people do not shed, for e.g. I did not shed at all during my first procedure. And yet had good results. So as of now nothing to worry.

Here's the way I do it.  I apply topical MX in the morning.

Eat my breakfast, read my morning newspapers....etc.

After about 1 hour the MX will have been absorbed through my scalp skin.

I then wash the excess grease out of my hair under warm tapwater (as warm as you can take it) for a few minutes.

I then proceed to take my bath or shower and wash my hair twice with clarifying shampoo.

This gets rid of all the MX topical greasiness.

You only need to apply topical MX once daily.  Applying it twice daily will not grow you anymore hair

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Another way to do it is apply at night before going to bed, then  just wash out the next morning using the same instructions as above.

I have never had a greasy head from topical MX since I started doing this

But you are missing the point ! First is it a well established fact and backed by data ?  that you just cannot rely on Oral Minoxidil and should also continue applying Topical Minoxidil ?

How to apply it ? Tips and Tricks on how to apply it. These all come later...My question is why need for both ? and is there a need for both ? I know I am free to do as I wish. But I am trying to find out from guys here what have their respective Dermats told them ?

  13. 1 minute ago, Westview said:

Taking oral AND topical makes sense because less than 1% of topical goes systemic.

In other words if you take 1ml topical that = 50mg MX.

    50mg X 1% = 0.5mg.

So that means only 0.5 mg of topical goes into your bloodstream, which means you're only taking 3mg MX in total daily

Yes but my question is the whole idea people prefer and like and would want to switch away from the hassles and messiness of applying Topical Minoxidil. why would someone want to do both ? That's way too much effort and work to save your hair isn't ? And is very Tiring and Boring.

  14. I have a question to all Guys here who take Oral Minoxidil ?

Do you guys also apply Topical Minoxidil along with taking Oral Minoxidil ? When my Dermatologist put me on Oral Minoxidil he advised me against stopping using Topical Minoxidil saying that look at Oral Minoxidil as a tool to enhance and supplement topical Minoxidil. It is not a substitute to applying Topical Minoxidil. I am confused hearing this from him. How many of you guys apart from taking oral Minoxidil also apply Topical Minoxidil ?

Also which time of the day or night do you guys take Oral Minoxidil ? I have been advised to take it at night just before bed time.

I have been told to continue using the power of 2.5MG Oral Minoxidil every day for 3 Months before it can be scaled up to 5 MG ?

1 year on topical Min, 1 year on 1mg Fin. After 1 year I grew a lot of hair back, and will forgo a transplant at this point. I chose Bisanga or Frietes  for a future surgery and thought it best to adhere to ‘their’ post med stack to be sure I didn’t suffer from side affects (knowing that meds are for life). Topical Min is great! But seen this is for life I figured I’d try oral for ease of use.

Yep ! The biggest advantage of oral minoxidil is ease of use, no messy hair. Use Hair styling products as much and as many times you want. Even that is my motivation aswell.

Hi! A dermatologist is your best bet. I got my prescription here in the States (free). I have genetically high blood pressure and cholesterol so I wanted to chat about that before switching from topical to oral. All good so far with me. Hair viscosity and texture is already better only after two months. Starting dose was 1.25mg daily for a week, then settling at 2.5mg. Watching closely for hypertrichosis and ankle swelling. My healthy diet and no drinking/smoking may help with that, but I’m no Doc. My GP didn’t want to prescribe it, my dermatologist did.

Did you get 1.25 MG does readily in the U.S or did you cut the 2.5MG in half ? And then take it ?
