  1. I wouldnt dare post a link, no doubt it'd be quickly removed by a moderator. They can be a tad trigger happy here at times. Just run a youtube search on kevin h nguyen. His vids will come up in the results.
  2. Brian, I feel the other products have helped somewhat with the overall feel, health and condition of my hair. I doubt very much it helps fight MPB, but it certainly doesnt hurt. Sorry to hear about the prostate cancer, I hope youre in the clear now and it's all good. Maybe you should speak with a specialist to find out more about your options. Future HT Doc, Sure I get it that minoxidil 5% is the FDA approved ingredient thats used in topical hair growth formulas. That ingredient alone is THE vital ingredient for stimulating growth. This fact I am fully aware of. That's not really the part I find puzzling when shopping for the right product. It's all the other stuff. For example, Lipogaine claims their additional ingredients help increase absorbtion of minoxidil. Hence, produce better results. Is there any weight behind such statements? Other factors to consider is pricing. Yes, generic versions are cheap, but they are considered by some to be messier and take longer to dry. I'm just curious to know who uses what and why. Knowledge is power and experience is wisdom. Ta muchly.
  3. I reckon 1mg tablet a day to start of with is fine, if you start to experience side effects then maybe reduce it to half a pill a day OR take a pill every other day. Then, after some time increase the dose as your body adjusts. As for regular shampoo, I reckon a decent brand should be sufficient, but I personally use a shampoo with certain "hair growth" ingredients including ginseng and biotin. I am no expert by any means. I just started the big 3 myself 7 months ago. Good luck to you buddy. Have you already taken some 'before' pics?
  4. Hey fellow baldy battlers! Which minoxidil products currently available on the market do you use? Which have you used before? What made you change products? Which have worked best for you? The minoxidil market is somewhat saturated these days; Rogaine, Lipogaine, Kirkland etc etc. The list is long, but which one is most distinguished? It's hard deciding what one to go for, whether the choice be expense, minoxidil percentage, ease of application, quick-drying, or choosing products that claim to have dht-blocking ingredients along with its active minoxidil, it's tough figuring out which is the right one for you. What brands have you gone through? Which one have you settled for? Why
  5. Has anyone here seen this guy's youtube videos? He claims that he doesnt represent any company or product and that his results are genuine and without any surgery whatsoever. If you haven't seen his videos I recommend you check out his youtube blogs. The before and after pics are phenomenal; if true, he literally went from a NWVI to a NWII. Thoughts?
  6. I recently read an article that suggested folks who thought they were experiencing sexual side effects from fin use were in fact suffering from a zinc deficiency. I have plenty of zinc in my diet which may explain why I haven't suffered from the dreaded sexual side effects. Food for thought.
  7. They are taken from normal photographs, they're not Bernstein-esque lab shots. Apologies if it's not up to a required standard, but I dont keep hair photos on my phone. And I uploaded those because of availability. I'll add more when I have the chance.
  8. Here are a couple of quick before and after snaps. Can you tell which is which? lol I'd like to add that my hair was somewhat longer in the before pic as I used to have to spend hours perfecting the combover. Nowadays I keep it shorter.
  9. I have just come up to the 6 month mark on the use of meds (fin and minox) and it seems as though I am shedding some more. Is this the norm? Could there be more new hairs to appear? Or is what I have now the lot? Please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and experience. Cheers
  10. Nice result so far. I plan on posting my 6 month update very soon. Watch this space.
  11. Maybe his grafts were licked on by royal corgies, hence the inflated price.
  12. I've been on finasteride 1.25mg daily for 6 months now. I believe it has stopped my hairloss and even thickened it up slightly. I also use Minoxidil 5% topical solution, so success cant be attributed to finasteride alone. No side effects.
  13. Worrying stuff. Unfortunately Proscar is not available where I am, just generic versions. I get Prostacom (Finasteride 5mg) straight from the pharmacy. Any info about this brand? Is it reliable enough?
  14. I'd just ditch the alpecin and stick with the rogaine.
  15. Yeah, I am aware of palpitations along with skin irritation as possible side effects because they are well documented. It's just that I've never heard of allergic rhinitis stemming from minoxidil use. I hope the two are not related as I'd hate to give up the minoxidil. ......I really feel like it has helped me to retain my barnet, and may even be responsible for hair regrowth.
  16. I have recently developed cold-like symptoms (nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy/puffed eyes, dry cough). I get these symptoms in the morning and evening only, which is coincidently when I also apply minoxidil. Is it possible to have this type of allergic reaction to minoxidil? I dont really have any dermatological side effects except the occassional itchy scalp. Thanks, Cal
  17. It is hard to say without any pics. when are you getting it done? I hope it all goes well for you and please keep us updated on your progress. All the best.
  18. It all depends IMHO.... How many grafts are being transplanted? What exactly are you looking to have done? e.g. Crown work, temples,etc....
  19. Kirkland 5% Minoxidil. Retin A isn't approved by governing bodies as a legitimate drug for the prevention of hair loss. Minoxidil is. Save your money ......as well as your hair.
  20. Thanks for sharing. I started out cutting up a generic 5mg finasteride into sixths, but I found it difficult to chop it up accurately. After only about a week or so of doing that, I decided to quarter it and take a quarter every M-W-F. Finally, I settled on a quarter a day. That was 5 months ago. I was, like most, well aware of the sexual disfunction scare stories associated with this drug, ....and for that reason, I cannot definitely attribute any 'sides' to my finasteride use. Side effects, if any, could well have been psychosomatic.
  21. You could try vitamin supplements - vitamin e and/or b-complex. Some folk swear by Biotin, folic acid, saw palmetto, etc. I don't know how successful these things are in stabilizing hair loss, but surely better than nothing.
