  1. I agree. The only thing is,I think I'm nearly there.I shave my head most days, unless I'm not going anywhere. I think I look good, the only thing thats annoying is the hair shadow on my head. Is there a way of removing all the hair what is left, then I could really put hair to rest. I've been following Hair Multiplication/Cloning for 4-5 years now,and I do not think anyone is any closer than they was 4-5 years ago. Hair transplant scare me,as I do not want to chase hair forever.
  2. The Westminster Clinic is Dr Rogers clinic. Over the few years I've been l've been interested/concerned about hairloss I've never seen any good reports on almost any UK clinics, beware.
  3. Shave it all off you might be surpriced, don't let hairloss take over your life. Its easy to fall into a patern of panic. The best thing I ever did was shave it all off, shave it in the shower/bath every day, make it part of your daily wash routine. Once everyone is used to seeing you like that, the comments get fewer and fewer. Whatever you do don't rush into anything.that you could end up regretting.
  4. What a load of rubbish if you research, you will see that receding at 17 is very normal. I'm 45 I started balding at 17.Between the years of 17 - 20 I went to a NW2-3.I stayed that way until mid thirties, when I noticed thinning again, then when I got to 42 I got concerned, worried, panic, etc. I'm a NW3-4 now.I have done a lot of research regarding having an hair transplant, only to realize that its to risky.Socially in the work group I'm in I'd also have the piss taken,so I think its a no go. What I have done for the last couple of years is shave my head every day,it looks better than a thinning hair look, which is more acceptable these days. No balding at 17 is quite normal, look to your Dad older uncles for future reference Heres another thing if you are reasonably good looking with hair, you will not look to bad without, and a total shaved look looks good if you keep in trim,no one wants to be fat and bald. At 17 its annoying, and whats worse is you can look up information nowadays on the internet, when I started losing hair I always thought you never went bald until your older, how wrong I was.
  5. Aderans Research Institute Inc. (ARI) recently achieved a significant milestone in its Phase 2 clinical study of cell-based hair regeneration, treating the trial's 100th subject. With clinical sites expected to double in the coming months, the study will likely add dozens of additional subjects to its enrollment. The breadth of this phase of our trial is tremendous; We have significantly more participants than our Phase 1 study. Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 28, 2010 -- Aderans Research Institute Inc. (ARI) recently achieved a significant milestone in its Phase 2 clinical study of cell-based hair regeneration, treating the trial's 100th subject. With clinical sites expected to double in the coming months, the study will likely add dozens of additional subjects to its enrollment. 'The breadth of this phase of our trial is tremendous,' said Kurt Stenn, MD, Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. 'We have significantly more participants than our Phase 1 study. The improved quantity of our study group allows us to assess our cell-products and accelerate our efforts to truly understand the impact of cell regeneration on pattern hair loss.' Phase 2 of the study has thus far been conducted in eight cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Paramus, Raleigh, Houston, and Washington DC. The study will ultimately comprise at least 16 U.S. metropolitan areas, with numerous new cities expected to be added in the coming months. The second phase of the trial is testing a variety of treatment regimens designed to realize a unique autologous cell engineering solution to hair regeneration. During the treatment, a small section of hair-bearing tissue is removed, cells are extracted and cultivated in a controlled laboratory setting, and then reintroduced to the scalp, where they are expected to elicit new hair growth. 'This is leading edge research in our industry,' said Vern Liebmann, Vice President, Operations. 'We've been able to conduct this study largely due to the generous financial backing of Aderans Co. LTD of Japan, and we're collectively very excited to see the results beginning later this year.' Phase 1 of the clinical study was conducted exclusively in the UK. More than 30% of participants showed a viable response to ARI's cellular regeneration techniques. About Aderans Research Aderans Research is a pioneer in the research and development of safe, effective cell engineered products for hair regeneration. With offices in Atlanta and Philadelphia, Aderans Research Institute is a subsidiary of Aderans Company, Ltd, the world's largest wig manufacturer, and an affiliate of Bosley, a global leader in medical hair restoration. More information on ARI's study outcomes will be released as studies unfold. 6. Do some more home work DHL seem to have a very bad reputation online on most hairloss sites. I had an online consultation with them when I first started being concerned..They was a little bit to pushy cold calling with a price match, etc. They acted like I was buying a pair of jeans down the market. I just shave my head for now.I've researched to much and decided I do not want to chase hair to many cowboys out there. To many repair patients. If you do your research you see there is not a good FUE clinic in UK,so you'll have to go aboard.
  7. Why not try shaving before having hair transplant,in other words before you pay or arrange a hair transplant, you might just like what you see. Just think of the money, time, etc you will save, but make sure you do meds!
  8. Heres a posting off another hairloss site regarding Dr De Reys retirment, etc.Hope this helps Hi All Forum readers, Today I would like to announce that at the end of this year Dr. De Reys will retire his active career as a Doctor completely. Being a member of our team for nearly 5 years he will be remembered as someone who devoted a lot of energy in trying to make the best result possible for each patient. Since he was kind enough to foresee the future of Prohairclinic he trained our team for the past 2 years in ALL aspects of FUE hair transplantation. Today our team members are able to work as an independent team completing all tasks required during FUE hair restoration. Obviously we will work along with a new doctor. Team Prohairclinic will remain intact, all members are staying with our clinic and will train Dr. Mertens into the art of FUE hair transplantation. For this reason we will move Prohairclinic to Medipolis complex in Wilrijk (next to Antwerp and only 15 minutes drive from our current location), at the end of 2009. Prohairclinic will join Medipolis, a large medical complex offering : eye surgery, plastic surgery, dental care. From 2010 onward Prohairclinic will carry out all hair transplantation for Medipolis as well as for our own patients, along with dr. Mertens. Apart from the change of doctor everything will be executed as before using the same routines, the same extraction instruments (only manual extraction using 0.7-0.8 mm punches). Lateral slits will be used for implanting and as before we offer up to 2500 FUE grafts in a single day, or up to 4000 grafts in a 2 day treatment. Patients can expect the same level of quality, regrowth and patient care. Due to our FUE only policy we have an extremely experienced team that has been trained by dr. De Reys to guarantee the level of service that is known to be attached to the name Prohairclinic. Bart
  9. Spot on Judge. Its annoying really to have to shave my hair every day or two.Yes I'd look better with hair, but by shaving it down I do not have to avoid catching a glimpse of myself in say a shop window with my hairline half way up my head, then getting p*ssed off and miserable for the rest of the day - I remember this well!
  10. This is one of the better site.We are or seem to be allowed to speak our minds. Some of the other sites delete postings on a regular basis, especially if its a posting knocking one of there adverisers. As for your hairloss. If I was you I'd shave it all off, which does look quite good on younger men, then if your not happy in a year or two and hairloss as stabalized, have a few consultations with some top HT surgeons. In the meantime to a bit of research, the more research the more knowledge you will have.
  11. Heres the link I have corrected the above as well See link http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/720109605
  12. Thanks Dr Feller it was just the way another poster had wrote it,which made me think he had. Do you have an opinion on shaved heads after transplant. Some of us can just accept a good shadow look, instead of full head of hair. Thanks in advance
  13. Dr. Lindsey, care to share a picture of your shaved head? This is a follow up from earlier postings. See link http://hair-restoration-info.c...66060861/m/720109605 I think we all would find it interesting to see what a shaved head looks on someone who's had hair transplant. Thanks in advance
  14. Wouldn't you be able to shave down with FUE - Please advise.Interestingly I'd like to know answer.Anyone know? Thanks in advance
  15. Hi..Yes I have considered this option.I have actually got hair on top, just not got any on NW zone 1,and not much on NW zone 2. The big problem is I work for myself, business would collapse if I took more than a week off.I also work in a male dominated environment,if I'm honest I'm not sure I'd take the stick about being to vain.I do not know if I'm the only one who thinks like that.I'm in the UK.Hair Transplants are not a every day thing. The other option I like would be to have all my hair folicles removed by lazer, which may seem extreme, but I looked into this and thats not a straight forward option either. Oh well I'll have to stay how I am for now at least. It gets easier as we get older,no one says anything about baldness to you once you turn fourty.Merry Christmas to everyone anyway!!!
  16. I would of thought the risk is fairly obvious. On the photos it looks like you had no work done on crown,so you obviously have that to look after,so you don't lose more hair and end up having another transplant. Min and fin go together for best results. If your worried about side effects you might be alright, its a case of finding out,by doing the best for yourself in my eyes. The words top up by hair transplant surgeons really mean another further hair transplant.
  17. Now this is me.I have been shaving my head daily for the last two years. When I first did it I was told by a Lady friend of mine, that its taken ten years off me,that gave me quite a lift,at the time. I'd spent the last 18 months before I did it very concerned about my hairloss, also for quite a while after to. It really grows on you (No pun intended). The only thing I really hate now is the balding shadow what appears.I have reseached hair transplants, but I now realize I'm doing the best option in my eyes.Hair transplants seem a bit to risky and you may always be chasing hair, maybe. I would still prefer hair, but I've learned to live without it,but I really still hate the fact that I'm balding. Hair Multiplication would be the ideal thing, but I have come to realize it might not happen,to many failures. I've got the right shape head, but it also gives that hardman look, which I would prefer not to have. Over all I think I look alright,no more bad hair days, haha!
  18. Updates from Histogen... http://www.sddt.com/news/artic...urceCode=20091029crd Full article for all those who are having problems retrieving this article, here it is: Histogen exec sees growing promise in stem cell technology By ELIZABETH MALLOY Thursday, October 29, 2009 For Gail Naughton, one of the most exciting things about her company Histogen's recent clinical trial is just how fast they're seeing results. The trial, conducted in South America, is for a hair re-growth treatment. Looking at pictures of patient samples, the before and after differences are easy to see. "You don't have to be a hair expert to see there are hairs where there were not (before) and they're thicker hairs," Naughton said, looking at photos of patients who received Histogen's hair re-growth treatment in South America. "One injection, we were able to increase it by 100 new hairs." Hair regrowth is just one of the possible treatments Histogen hopes to generate with its stem cell technology. The company also has the potential to grow new organ cells, nerve cells in the spine, even treat cancer. But Naughton said hair treatments would have a huge initial market, which can bring in funding for other more serious conditions. "Hair can really generate a lot of excitement and help us raise the cash we need to develop the other products," she said. Histogen's chairwoman and chief executive, Naughton is somewhat of a rarity in that she is both a scientist and a businesswoman. She is working to make this less of a rarity in her other job -- as dean of San Diego State University's College of Business Administration. There, she has helped develop a joint Ph.D. and MBA program that will teach more scientists business skills, and vice versa. Gail Naughton A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Naughton was a scientist first, only learning the business side when she started her first company, Advanced Tissue Sciences Inc., in 1991. The technology Histogen is based on is from Naughton's own research. While Histogen can be considered a stem cell company, the treatments the company is working on uses a protein secreted by stem cells, rather than the actual cells themselves. The company gets the protein using a unique strategy. "The whole premise of Histogen is that if you go and grow human cells under conditions that are embryonic-like, the cells will revert back, and become embryonic," she explained. One of the advantages scientists have long seen with embryonic stem cells is that they secrete a kind of protein called WNT proteins. These are the proteins that signal to cells how to differentiate, or turn into the various muscle, bone, organ and blood cells they should grow into. Researchesr believed that they could isolate WNT proteins and use them to stimulate tissue growth and regrow things like organs, skin and hair. Naughton's discovery with Histogen, which was based on other researchers' work, was that by growing cells in an embryonic environment -- low-gravity and low-oxygen -- within a few days, the cells would revert to their embronic state. This means the company could get WNT proteins without having to drestroy actual embryoes. "We're not the basic, 'A-ha!' discovery research (company)," she explained. "We're there saying, 'We know the composition of what we have, we know what's unique about it, let's go to the literature and see what other people have found to be important with these and let's go after the therapuetic areas, which are our greatest need right now.'" While it conducts research on different therapuetic treatments, Histogen has products on the market which help generate some cashflow, though not enough to fully fund the company yet. The company sells a stem cell product, and is awaiting FDA approval for a wound care product. The hair product could be on the market in Asia within the next two years. Histogen has suffered some setbacks in the last year. The company had 38 employees until last January, when it was hit with a lawsuit over patent infrigement. Histogen had to lay most of the staff off, but still has 11 full-time employees. Naughton said that after another round of fundraising, they hope to begin rehiring. The company is currently raising money to expand its hair re-growth trial in Asia. As both the executive officer of Histogen and the dean of SDSU's business school, Naughton acknowledged that she's a very busy woman. She works about seven days a week, whether it's raising venture funding for the company, reading up on new possibilities for WNT proteins or creating international studies programs for her business students. Still, she said, she wouldn't have it any other way. "By being able to be involved with both, I keep myself at a good balance," she said. "I love what I do."
  19. I shave my head every day,due to not liking the the hairloss I have.If I grow it out it looks thin on top,but if I shave it,it looks leave a good shadow, just a shame I don't have more hair at the front. Hope this helps.I'd love to see some photos of hair transplants shaved down,it might tempt me to get front done. I also like idea of having no hair,at all,if I can't have hair, perhaps lazer all the folicles off, which I assume can be done. A totally bald head with a tan can look good, except you'd look like a cancer patient in winter, haha!
  20. Why have a reversal, you might be quite surprised you've got quite a lot of hair - Why not just try shaving it off with a razor. It might look good,as you will have a reasonable shadow of hair at the front.I shave my head and its now grown on me!
  21. Thank you Mick from Farjo.I must of missed your responce to my question,as it was posted a few weeks ago.I appreciate it.All the best BALDIE42
  22. savemylife1 - Great question.I have asked this question on other forums, but I have never had a proper reply.I like the way you asked it. I shave my head.I would be happy with a better shadow,if I can do it by having an hair transplant. So come on someone - Please advise us?
  23. Great results on 1st hair transpant. From pre-op to nine months looks really good.I can't actually see why you would need second hair transplant at this stage.Big shame it was not FUE,as keeping it short suits you. I can see you are dark skinned. Is this the reason it looks good or not. I'm quite dark skinned.I'm to scared or do not get enough time to have a hair transpant. If I could guarantee your results I'd be keen - I think!!!
  24. Thank you Mick. A responce from Dr Farjo himself would be great. I do appreciate your help. I've been a follower of ICX-TRC for quite a while now.I have half accepted my hairloss,by shaving my head every day,but I still think hair would be better.NW6 run in my family so I will not consider a hair transpant. All the best BALDIE42
  25. Mick from Farjo - Question for you. Regarding your posting on Hair Cloning.I've been following ICX-TRC for quite a while now. What are you actually stating.Your posting was dated 26th March after their resent update. Was the results that bad,as there as never been photos published. Are Aderans a better bet or Intercytex. All we seem to get is figures that most do not understand - why is this? I had a very intesting conversation with Lesley for Farjo a quite a while ago.She answered the phone instead of receptionist I assume. She was very positive, perhaps she was to over positive. Do not just tell us to check out FAQ page.
