Forehead - I had similar loss to yours and I had 3000 grafts. I had 2 estimates, one from Umar, one from H&W and they were the same, 3k. They both felt b/c I had a fairly thick forelock it would look unnatural if it was thinner on the temples. Good luck!

Dr. Feller, My mother-in-law, who is 65, has diffuse female patterned balding. Would this be a good treatment for her? Will this work on females as well? Abe

Winston, IF there are natural remedies that work for hairloss or other ailments why don't the companies that make them pay for a double blind study that shows those results? And don't tell me that those companies can't pay for it, b/c the natural supplement market is huge business. And I've never seen a GNC store raided. What exactly are they raiding these natural stores for? Abe

P.S. I hear Uganda does not have an FDA nor can it afford pesiticides or western medicine. I also hear housing is cheap out there.

Winston, That is a great example of the FDA protecting the public. If anybody was allowed to make any claim about a product with little or no evidence people would not know what products are effective. You have little faith in pharma companies but tons of faith in natural supplements. I would guess that you also put little faith in science and tons in prayer - this is good because most supplements will require a lot of prayer in order to work. Abe

I think you are definitely ahead of the curve. Looking good so far. Are you using rogaine?

Dr. Feller or others, Is a license required to draw blood, concentrate the platelets, and then inject it back into the patient? Phlebotomists can draw blood and nurses are allowed to give injections and since PRP is not a drug and not fda regulated, it seems to me that you could see PRP shops pop up in every city (similar to some of these lazer hair removal shops). Basically, could anybody do this? The equipment can be purchased without a license. Thanks! Abe

Pearson, Very good results imo from your 3 to 5 month update. The crown is a much slower process so you still have tons more to grow.

Late on posting these. The hair actually looks better in person. The flash really exposed some of the gaps that havent filled in yet. Last month has truly been great. Got my first haircut. Redness is basically gone - although its more evident with the flash. I'm hoping that the gap behind my right temple fills in. Left side is doing well, right side worries me a little - I know its still early. I encourage everyone to create a blog - or at least take pics to document your progress. I've had many days in the last month where I didn't feel my hair was growing as fast as it had been, but after posting pics, its evident that may hair is still growing well. Abe

Your results to date look great. But I'm curious about this pic. Is this gap a result of lack of growth or a non-transplanted area? Or do you think its an area that is just lagging a bit? Thanks! Abe

HJ, Yes he did recommend minox and I've been using it right behind the recip area and on the side that had some shockloss. I plan on stopping once everything has grown in. I did like the stuff that Umar gave me, but now I'm back to my original 5% minox. Transplanted hair shouldn't shed once you stop minox as far as I know. And if it does, I'll be shedding but my hair will still look better. I think the point of it is to speed up the growth process. BTW - did you put minox on your donor area up until 2 weeks prior to the transplant? It was in Umar's pre-op instructions, and I did it but didn't know why. Now, I'm thinking it may increase the speed of growth since i seem to be an early grower. Abe

Stingray, I'll take some pics of the sides soon and post. They have filled in nicely. The right side is still a little thin, but it came back pretty quick after I start putting a little minox on it. I'm assuming it will continue to thicken up. I did have shockloss in those areas. It happened after about a month and wasn't fun. Thanks for the comments everyone. LMS, While your post is important to read and its certainly important for posters to take caution before jumping into a major cosmetic procedure, I disagree with a couple of important points. 1.) "NOT A SINGLE HOMERUN, NOT A SINGLE "WOW" RESULT EVER CAME EASY... it came after MANY procedures and tens of thousands of dollars, down time, and YEARS of long planned out work. and LUCK...." I've seen many people with frontal recession, that have been on meds and have been able to stop their hairloss. I have no loss at the crown or diffuse thinning and based on my family history and being on propecia for 5 years, my hairloss has halted. I do not expect to have MANY procedures and I know that there are others on here that will not require anything further. 2) Most people on these forums have tried many different methods to treat their hairloss. I've done all sorts of stuff from needling, to minox/caffeine homemade solutions, to laser light. And the search for answers has taken me years. Now, after having a transplant I'm confident that I can stop putting crazy concoctions on my head and that I won't have to read these boards everyday to find out the latest and greatest topical. Finally, from a cost standpoint, I would have spent thousands on crap that doesn't work over years and years. I think the peace of mind and time saved from worrying about hairloss, along with the money spent on topicals, justifies paying 20k now for a ht. Abe
