  1. Eman, The booking experience has not been bad. I don't want people to think that it has been. Again, I would have liked the patient consultant to be better informed but it hasn't been bad at all. Dr. Umar has personally answered all of my questions. Regarding the finances. You can definitely get a personal unsecured loan, receive the money and then give to Dr. Umar or any other surgeon. With excellent credit you will pay about 12%. When you use CareCredit or CapitalOne Cosmetic loans they give the money directly to the surgeon. The surgeon pays some sort of fee monthly to these companies. In exchange, these companies give you a great rate. I qualified for 5%. So, Dr. Umar doesn't work with these companies. If you look at a website like Hasson and Wong's you will see that they work with a number of different cosmetic loan companies. Anyway, I had to get a personal unsecured loan since I don't have 20k laying around. Not a big deal, but it adds up over the term of the loan. Let me know if you have questions. My date is coming soon and I'm getting excited/nervous. Abe
  2. Basically its been ok. I really have no specific complaints. It just seems like their patient consultant is maybe new. I had a lot of questions that she would have to get back to me on. And sometimes it would take days for an answer. It could also be that I see people like Spex and Joetronic posting and they are super knowledgeable and I may have expected the same of their patient rep. Also they only take cash or credit card - which kind of stinks bc the best rates are through cosmetic loans (ie carecredit or capital one cosmetics) and not credit cards. I would like to hold judgement until after the procedure. Dr. Umar has been good about getting back to me via email.
  3. I booked with Umar for Feb 16th. I will post updates after the procedure. The booking process has been 'ok,' so far. His work, from what I've seen, is great and his prices for fue are reasonable. Good luck and keep us posted.
  4. Hey Guys, Just for clarification: I will still get the money back if I cancel, even a day before the surgery. But I would lose my deposit of 10%. I expect this is true for almost everyone. Also, I've been told by CareCredit (one of the biggest funders of cosmetic surgery) that almost every doc requires payment in advance. Abe
  5. If its a small amount of FUE they can take some of the hair below the occipital notch - I believe. If they go as low as the nape area then the hair may not be resistant to DHT in the future. They can also go pretty low on the sides, but again I'm not sure how resistant this hair is to DHT. Generally they do not go super low with strip b/c of the risk of scar stretching. Abe
  6. Canadian, By 10 days the donor area should be relatively healed. I'm more concerned with the recipient area. I plan on shaving the entire head for the procedure so it grows evenly. Otherwise the back will be shaved for the FUE and the top will be long which would look ridiculous in my opinion. Anyway, I will let you guys know how it goes. I pretty much have to go to this. Its one of our bigger clients and the company has invested some money in this. Plus the customer doesn't like my boss who would be my fill in. Dan
  7. Guys, I agree with you for the most part. As for the 3000 FUE's it will be done over 2 days, about 1500 per day which is doable. The dinner is actually with a customer and not people I see everyday, so I'm hoping i will make it and I will definitely ask the doc about toppik or dermatch. There will be about 20 people there and I'm hoping the lighting wont be too bright. Thanks! Dan
  8. I'm getting 3k FUE grafts on Feb 16th. Feb 26th I have a big work dinner. Should I be ready with an excuse or do you think scabs, etc. will be not super noticeable by that point? Is it worth it to have some dermatch on stand bye? Thanks!!!

  10. I actually talked to capital one who is financing this and they said most doctors require payment in advance. However, I just found out that my surgeon doesn't accept anything but cash or credit card. Great, so now I have to pay 10 to 15% interest instead of 5%. This sucks.
  11. No BHT will be used even if they are free. Hopefully I'll never have to go there.
  12. That is basically what I'm doing, except 4 weeks in advance for the rest. Thanks for your input.
  13. Thanks Indian, I will definitely keep everyone updated with pics. This was very helpful to me and I hope to help those looking into the operation.
  14. Yeah, its not a huge deal, but I think its a bit strange. There is a 10% deposit at signing and then you must pay in full one month in advance. If you go under the estimated amount of grafts you get a refund for the difference. Thanks for the input.
  15. Guys, Is it normal to pay in advance of your procedure? I've been told I must pay the full amount no later than 1 month prior to my surgery. Thanks, Abe

  17. And here is my donor. Not sure how to gauge donor hair, but I'd love feedback. Thx!
  18. Guys, I know there is a ton of discussion about FUE vs Strip - and rightly so. However, I've made a decision to go with Umar in February. I will keep all of you posted on my results. Here are a couple of pics to show my current state. I also would love to hear your feedback on below. 1.) Dr. Umar has used nape hair in the past to create a soft hairline. I know this is controversial. Thoughts? 2.) I'm not looking to lower my hairline too much, but I do have a baldspot on the side of my head. Anybody know how many hairs it will take to fill this? 3.) What results should I expect with 3k grafts? Just to note for those that are curious. I'm 30 yo and I've been on propecia for about 4 years and I recently stopped rogain due to itchiness of the scalp. Its been about a month and I haven't lost anything. I was on rogain for around 2 years and it didnt' do much. Thanks for your replies and again I will keep you all posted.
