  1. Bump, My surgery is next week!!! Any hint, tips etc about the surgery/India will be helpful. Thanks!
  2. I've been wearing a piece for 8 years so I can offer some insight. Going to a saloon is throwing money away. You can do this stuff yourself, and get a better result. There is a learning curve, but that is where companies make their money...duping you into thinking they are professionals and you cant do it yourself. I would never leave a piece on longer than 7 days, 4 weeks is just asking for issues. I have a spiked up hairline. At first I was paranoid about making everything perfect etc now I'm much more laid back. Thats whats pushed me to get a transplant, even a half decent one will make a huge difference...and so I don't have to waste energy into a piece and more into life. I use tape all around and dont bother with glue. I used to use glue at the front, but tape is much easier. Blue liner is the king of tapes, ultrahold isnt bad too. I would use a slightly weaker tape at the temple points to reduce shedding. I've tried them all, partials, 3/4cap, fullcap. I've come to the realisation that keeping as much of your own hair is best.
  3. Hi, where are you travelling from? I have my surgery with Dr Bhatti in Jan.
  4. Hi, The day of the surgery is fast approaching. I had a look at Park Plaza and the prices are too high for me. So still looking. I'd like to go to the Taj Mahal at least and do some sight seeing. This will be after the surgery, I will have around 9 days. Trying to keep costs down as everything is starting to add up. Also whats the best way to carry cash to India? Specifically from the UK.
  5. I would like to get the surgery done asap. I've had traction alopecia since I was 14, so I've been bald for more than half my life lol. The timings also relate to work. I'm probably going to get a flight from Delhi there, get the procedure done. Rest for a few days and play it by ear. I will be returning to work approximately 10 days after the surgery. Money is tight so I'll be looking to do things on the cheap. Hopefully with my head of hair I'll have the confidence to push forward in my career and life...and then one day come back to India and treat my family with a proper holiday. Does anyone know of any good budget accommodation? Also I have to see the Taj Mahal!
  6. Hi, looks really good. Is it advisable to wear a hat after the surgery? Will the hat affects the grafts/scabs?
  7. Hi, thanks for the replies. Unfortunately with dates and timings I'm going to have to do most of the sight seeing after the procedure. I'll have a day in Delhi before going to Chandigarh. After how many days do you think I should fly back to Delhi? I was thinking of resting 3-4 days then flying to Delhi and sightseeing for a few days before flying back to the UK. This makes planning and booking difficult because I've never had a transplant before. Im not sure how I will feel, I also have cutis verticis gyrata.
  8. Hi, Should I get any vaccinations before travelling to India? I'm planning on having the procedure on the 9th Jan with Dr Bhatti for about 3500 grafts. I am thinking of sight seeing in Delhi, then to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and then to Chandigarh for the ht. I'm thinking of travelling from the 6th to 18th Jan. Any help with the itenary will be much appreciated. Thanks
  9. I have CVG, it sucks. Especially as the dr's I have been too have known next to nothing about the condition.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I am planning on getting the surgery done on 9/10 Jan, and returning to work on the 15th Jan. I would be able to wear something to cover my head, but Im not sure what. As mine is a unusual case. Should I try to take a few more days off? I am getting the front areas addressed as seen in the pics Thanks,
  11. Hi, I am looking for a cap to wear post op that wont touch my scalp. I am getting FUE for my sides and front. Thanks
  12. After how many days can I fly from India to UK after having FUE? About 3500 grafts are needed. Thanks.
  13. I have CVG and wear a hairpiece. To be honest, I want to shave my head. But the CVG is preventing me from doing so. Its hard to look professional when it looks like your brain is sticking out. So thats why I thinking of the HT. A scalp reduction seems more invasive. My ideal would be to have some hair and keep it fairly short, just so the bumps are not visible.
  14. I've stopped smoking and using an e-cig to help to eventually stop all together. Will this have a serious affect on the transplant surgery?
  15. The Dr has said the CVG won't be an issue. I have consulted with other top doctors over the years that have said it also wont be a problem. But due to having CVG, I wouldn't risk the invasive procedure at this moment in time. The ironic thing is that my scalp has good laxity. If I didn't have the CVG I would just shave my head. I've considered it recently, but it looks abnormal having the sides and top completely bald. So by filling in the sides and top, hopefully it will draw less attention. Do you think achieving something similar to this is possible? http://www.les-films.fr/IMG/jpg/60th_festival_cannes_2007_the_golden_compass_photocall_daniel_craig.jpg
  16. Thanks for the response. The alopecia was caused by tight pulling on the hair when I was younger, and then having to wear a turban exasperated it. After consulting a dermatologist in the UK, I was told there is nothing that can be done because the CVG is not severe enough. After many years and months of researching I am thinking of going with Dr Bhatti for the FUE. 3500 would be sufficient to fill in the sides and create a hairline to frame my face. I am realistic with my expecations, something akin to this would be good: **outside link removed by moderator** After living with the same level of hair loss for 15 years, it would be a godsend to do away with the hairpiece and be free!
  17. I can potentially get 3 weeks off work and would want to get the transplant done asap, giving me more time to recover. I also want to have a holiday in India with my wife after the hair transplant, for around 10 days, is this advisable? Or is it better to go there, get the transplant and then fly back 2 days later? I am planning to go in early may, the temperature will be around 32C then. Kind regards.
