  1. hi guys, 102 days post op, and so far so good. i cant start to see hairs growing in the hair line and it is slow developing a hair line, hair seems to appear thicker in the recipient area. however today, i scratched my scalp, and clump of transplanted hairs shed and came onto my fingers, id say about 3 time 2 single grafts (6 or so hairs total). they might of been only slightly longer in length compared to when they were first transplanted 14 weeks ago. my question is, how far post op can shedding still occur? is this too late for shedding of transplanted hairs to occur? and if it does occur so far out does this indicate possible future poor growth for those late transplanted hairs that are shedding.? another concern was that some of the hairs do not appear to have grown any longer but seem to have remained in my scalp the day they were planted. it could be that im wrong and they have already shed and regrown. if anyone can shed some light for me and perhaps share there experience this far out post op many thanks fellow trans planters chael
  2. Mine was at about 3 to 4 days post of and the itching was also driving me mad. I just soldiers on through it and it went away by out about 10 days post op
  3. Thanks for the response guys. At this stage it's only been 2 pimples. They both had a life span of about 1 day and healed.
  4. 8 weeks post op, and just above my hair line where most of the grafts went, i big pimple formed, with center full of puss... another one today when i got home from work never ever had a pimple like this in my scalp... when do pimples start developing? does this mean some growing activity has started under my scalp... in your experiences, how long after your op did they start appearing and for how long did they last? many thanks fellow transplanters
  5. Mate I had my op October 6, 1800 fut. went back to work 24th oct. No on had noticed anything as I kept my same hairstyle. Even though my hair line was much stronger. Now my hair looks just as it did pre op.. 2-3 months is plenty of time!!
  6. My dr was telling me that 1-1.25 mg of finersteride every 2nd is enough. He believes it is not completely necessary to take it daily but has no objections to it either. His main reasons for this statement that the daily dose of finasteride stays in your system for a couple of days.
  7. you can wear a hat so long as its not tight... included in the post op pack was a police style blue hat with "under construction" written on the front i made sure for the first few days if i had to wear a hat i would wear it very loose and not have it pressed down on my scalp. truckie style hats are quite good for this as they have plenty of room on the top of the hat that will never touch your head.
  8. I've been using the foam version from 14 days post op onwards. Previously in the past I was on liquid solution. And it caused lots of greasiness and irritation. The foam on the other hand is great and the issues I was previously having with the liquid version are certainly less prominent.
  9. From the research I have done on this website, the general consensus is generally always 2 weeks. My dr suggested me to start from 2 weeks onwards also. I've been doing it and so far so good. No irritation or itchines of the scalp.
  10. Hi guys, Just wondering how long it was after your transplant you resumed use of medicated shampoos like nioxin and nizoral. ? I've remained cautious and stuck to baby shampoo for now. 26 days post op. Many thanks Chael,

  12. Hi guys, Everything going very smooth, and scalp is healed well. No pinkness really that I can see. I've been using baby shampoo since 10 days post op. I would like to know on your opinions when it is safe to start using medicated shampoos. Nioxin/ nizoral. Prior my transplant I was on nioxin for about 10 months. I would like to start again but thought I would just ask and get some opinions on how long one should wait after a HT to start using stronger shampoos?? Any comments and feedback would be appreciated Thanks Chael.
  13. Im on my 3rd day of biotin now. Taking the vcaps 5000 mcg from "NOW" also. I take one daily for now, might up the dosage slowly..
  14. 16 days post op FUT 1800 grafts with dr Knudsen healing has gone amazingly well. redness and scabs were gone within 10 days. now its just the waiting game. i have to say not alot of confidence in the aussie hair transplant surgeons...
  15. can any dr's give some general advise here? 15 days post op now, and would like to know if it is wise to get back onto my Nioxin shampoo and conditioner which i was on 10 months prior transplant. for now i am continuing to use baby shampoo. have been doing so since 11 days post op.
  16. im 14 days post op and asked my dr the same thing today during consultation. he said its fine if i lift weights. i made it clear i meant heavy weight lifting, and he said it will be fine. (im not so sure) but this has left me very confused, much like yourself ive read that the scar can stretch after 6 months from heavy lifting?? i will get back into the gym, but just be lifting light weights and cardio.
  17. thank you david. appreciated

im glad i found this site.

  18. ^^^ thanks for your response buddy. i will give it a try, im currently on proscar, saw pal and will be commencing rogaine foam 14 days post op. the biotin i think will be a good addition..
  19. did you break out at all corvettester?? ie pimples on the face or hair line? sorry for the noob question but what is the difference between MSM and biotin? is it the same product in one way or another?
  20. anyone,?? all the senior members must be on holidays enjoying there full head of hair lol in re to nioxin, all i can say is that after a shower and conditioner it gave a thicker and fuller appearance straight after a shower. thats about it... cant say it reduced or increased shedding. i will just wait 14 days post op to ask my dr, have an appointment with him... for now baby shampoo it is!
  21. thanks spex. 12days post op now and healing has been great, no pain, no redness, all scabs almost gone. just experienceing the normal shockloss now.. but after reading your very detailed "shockloss" thread with all the definitions i am more relaxed even though i am shedding noticeably post op.
  22. im 11 days post op now, and certainly experiencing shock loss... it is real evident when i shower or when i check my pillow in the morning. one thing i have noticed is that all the hairs are thick healthy hairs with bulbs on the end. is it safe to assume that these will all grow back and are all part of the "shock loss"? is there such thing as experiencing permanent shock loss with healthy hair? from what i have gathered from Spex's informative thread, only the really thin hairs on there way out will experience Permanent shock loss, where as healthy hairs shedding due to the scalp trauma will grow back and experience only temporary shock loss..
  23. hey mate, i wish i started to combat my problem when i was 24 as this is when my hair loss began most likely but i just didnt notice it or was oblivious to it. good to see your taking the necessary steps. i was on propecia for the first 4 months, then switched to proscar 1.25mg daily. have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for the past 10 or so months every 2nd-3rd day. i will be commencing rogaine once i am 14days post of op. i am now at 11 days post op. i was in the same position as you about 1 year ago, but decided not to go into surgery until i hit the med's first to stabilize my hair loss or at least slow it down. i recently started using toppik, and it makes a hell of a difference to appearance which is can really help conceal. im no doctor, but based solely on the frantic research ive done for the passed 18 months, Propecia/proscar and Minoxidal (rogaine) are the only proven methods which will help you slow down and stabilize hair loss or even grow some back. good luck with it all
  24. hi guys, i am now 11 days post op FUT. in my opinion i am healing amazingly well, all my redness appears to be gone, and scabs are falling off freely. (lots of crust all over my scalp). at this stage, when it comes to shampooing i am really being overly cautious.. ie, not scrubbing, still gently patting my hair with regular shampoo which i only started using 9 days post op. i know i would have to really try hard to damage or remove a graft at this stage, my question is, can i get back on the Nioxin shampoo which i used 10 months prior my HT?? or is considered too harsh for my scalp at this stage.? also, from the research ive done on this forum, it seems wise that i get on the rogaine Foam after about 14 days post op? however a thread regarding seasonal shedding from the informative Spex did indicate this will make me shed even more. i intend to use the rogaine for the long term. i am currently on proscar 1.25mg daily and sawpalmetto capsules daily for the past 12 months many thanks fellow hair loss sufferers i know i will really have to be patient in the next couple of months and im trying not to let this early shedding scare me too much or put me off
