  1. All I can say good about month two is that it sucks less than being at month one. I started rogaine a month ago and thin little fuzzy hairs are growing, they are about a half inch long, I can't tell if it is the soft fuzzy hairs are being produced by rogaine or if somehow my transplant is already growing in places.
  2. I am wodering what you are gonna do with your time after your hair grows in perfectly. I am goig out on a limb here and guess...some other obsession!
  3. I had my Surgery with Dr. Ziering and I am only 40 days since the restoration surgery and can not comment on the final outcome however I visited Dr. Z in his West Hollywoood office and it was a great experience, great guy and his staff is really knowledgable and have great chairside manners. In my opinion so far he is a great surgeon and I would go back again, once the hair starts growing I will make more comments. I think that the reason he does not want to be a member of the coalition is that he has already built a stellar reputation without using pay to play internet an may feel that it would be diminishing to his reputation, also since his practice has been established much longer than this forum he may not view Pat as being qualified to judge him as a surgeon and may just not be willing to participate. After being on the national TV shows like " The Doctors" and "extreme makeover" as well as a many other apperances, he may feel that these facts plus advertising in "New Beauty" magazine is enough exposure and that he does not need this sites recommendation. In the past I have not mentioned my doctor so far because it does not seem right on this coalition forum but since someone else started the thread I felt it was ok to chime in with my ideas and opinions as an actual patient of Dr. Ziering. Finally, I would like to say thanks a million to all the great advice and support I have recieved here on this forum because I felt pretty alone in my MPB suffering and also much anxiety over the procedure, pre and post care, you guys are really appreciated by me for sure. I will provide another report in a few months...
  4. I was told that it might not be a good idea to start finesteride immediately after a HT due to the possibility of causing the hair to rest longer thus increasing the time for the hair to start growing. Have you heard of this? Is it true? Should I hold off for a while or maybe try to get away without using it at all?
  5. I have had my HT a bit over 30 days and have not take any finesteride or applied any rogaine, nor have I ever done done so in my life. The reason is that I do not take a lifetime comittment lightly and am having a bit of analysis paralysis regarding this matter. I am looking for the straight up truth about finesteride and some wisdom to help me decide what to do from here.
  6. That would be awesome, go to the show on Melrose on New Years Eve.
  7. 30 days after Ht now and the hairs are pretty much gone, I can see the next few months are gonna be long if I fixate on it, I'm thinking it's best to find something to get interested in and just forget about hair for a few months.
  8. Hey Dr. Mike, I had a HT three weeks ago and have been reluctant to begin finesteride for the first time ever because someone told me it could cause trouble with my resting hairs causing them to delay growth since I have never used it before. Do you believe this to be true?
  9. I had my HT on 11/29/11 and the hairs are starting to fall out now, it is gonna be hard to wait for the new hair to grow, is there anything I can do to speed up the process and shorten the resting phase?
  10. Any doctors want to chime in here, I certainly don't want to make a mis step here and cause difficulty in re-growth. So the question is " Since I have never taken propecia or rogaine, am at a couple weeks post HT, should I begin using these drugs asap or wait?" and for the record, I am 44 with a NW 4 or 5, had 3450 grafts, the hairloss began in mid to late twenties, it seems to have stabilized for the most part that I can notice. Come on docs, help brother out and help me figure out the best route!
  11. I recently had a HT a couple weeks ago and there are a few effects that occured to me that I did not really expect beforehand. Thought I would share and get some feedback from others. 1. I did not expect to feel better as soon as I made the decision and set up the appointment, I never felt better about coughing up 1k as I did when I made the deposit to secure an appointment. 2. I did not realize how nervous I would get the night before, the morning of, and during the cutting phase of the HT, truth be known I was as nervous as I ever get. 3. While viewing HT photos prior to the HT I thought is was pretty awful to see and was worried for myself but amazingly after the HT I did not mind seeing mine at all, in fact it was comforting to me. 4. Pain wise, I was expecting it to be much worse, the worst turned out to be living with the stiches for 10 days, mine hurt and I needed medication to sleep proper, outside that there was very little pain involved. 5. I did not expect to have the sense of aging backwards, maybe I expected a it in some way but could not have forecasted the true impact, it was and still is awesome feeling. 6. I did not realize how happy it would make me sub-consciously, or maybe I had gotten used to suffering with MPB, all I know is there is a part of my mind that has had perma grin ever since I received the HT, this procedure gave me some sense of peace regarding a subject that has caused me much unrest. These were things I did not expect to happen but experienced and I am a person that is intuitive and can be somewhat predictive of a given situation.
  12. Raj, I think that for the most part a FUE is typically used for a lower graft count but if you need a higher graft count it is more typical to have a FUT. However, I believe there is a small percentage of FUE transplants that have been used for a larger size HT. I think that the FUE also can do more damage to your donar hair somehow.... I just had a FUT HT and I can tell you that it feels great to take action on something that was bothering me, I feel very happy to have gone down this road. Good luck.. By the way, I believe my advice is sound however I am a HT newby so you should listen to all the more experienced people on this board.
  13. I did not put it in the title because it may be a little disgusting to discuss but the question is about scabs. I had my HT twelve days ago, traveled a good ways away to my surgeon, my surgeon then set me up to have my stiches removed at 10 days by another HT surgeon near my home which I did have done. I have received contradictory advice regarding scabs, one said to soak them in conditioner for 20 minutes in a shower but not to scrub them off but to let them fall off naturally. The other told me to scrape them off in the shower, even suggesting to use the side of a comb to scrape the scabs with and even demonstrated the technique which kinda freaked me out since the original surgeon said not to do that and it kinda seems like common sense not to scrape at a scab. I am at 12 days now an still have some scabs. I am no expert, I have just received two different messages.....what do you make of this?
  14. Which celebrities, pro sport players, or politians have had a HT? Just curious, I am pretty sure Joe Biden has had a HT. Who do you think has had one?
  15. LOL, it is strange but I feel the same way, it even started to some degree immediately after I just made the appointment and then to a greater degree when I saw the hair installed... I am so happy to have this forum because I used to think there was something wrong with me and that others dealt with this issue better than me but I have found great comfort in the support here.
