  1. just mix salt and water in a spray bottle. Thats what my doc instructed me to do. You dont need to buy anything special
  2. Youre lucky then. I feel trapped. Damned if i do, Damned if i dont. I can take propecia and have hair to attract mates so I'm never in the mood to be intimate. Or i could be a typical sex crazed man with no hair to attract a mate.
  3. I guess it depends on how reputable the doctors are. I went to Nuhart and was able to bargain thousands off the asking price. The Doctor was relatively new though. I cant say i got the best or worst results since I have never been to another HT office and i have no basis for comparison. Although I was not completely satisfied with transplant #1. The second one was much better.
  4. Thanks for sharing your stories. I've only taken 7 tablets over the course of 2 weeks (alternate days), but I already don't like the sexual side effects - loss of pleasure. I've decided to quit taking them and just get hair transplants periodically and wait for a cure.
  5. So I've been on Propecia for a whole 2 weeks now taking the 1mg pill every other day. I've read many post about lower sex drive and decreased watery ejaculation. So I knew the risk. I immediately noticed lower libido and sensation. Hopefully this will go away. I've also read it takes about a year to see any regrowth, but I'm a little puzzled why I'm still shedding so much each day. Since the med "immediately" blocks DHT, shouldn't I see the benefits of less hair falling out pretty quickly? Can you seasoned propecia folks comment on the gradual progression of benefits? i.e. saw less shedding by 1 month, saw regrowth at 6 months, side effects went away at 6 months etc? I'd like to track milestons and know if im progressing normally relative to the majority (I know everyone is different). Thanks.
  6. Ask your HT doc for prescription anti-itch medication. You need something stronger.
  7. Dr. Beehner - It looks like your practice is not too far away from me in CT. Would I be able to make a consultation with you to assess my current hairloss and get a prescription for Proscar to replace my current Propecia meds?
  8. I totally agree. But the challenge is knowing which doctor will prescribe Proscar in Connecticut. I mean, do i just keep making consultations at $100+ a pop until a doctor agrees to prescribe me Proscar?
  9. So I called my HT doc and requested finesteride. I asked for Proscar, he said no and gave me a prescription for Propecia. Got it filled at CVS. $97 for a 30 day supply??!! My jaw dropped! For the folks that are currently on Propecia, where do you buy your meds? Online? What is a trust worthy site to get Propecia cheaper? I googled, but i dont trust the majority of the websites because they either look shady or come from another country. If I cant get it cheaper than I'll just pass on the meds because $97/month for life is tough to swallow.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I understand the risk and I am willing to take a chance and try finesteride, but the thing stopping me is the price of propecia. I want to use proscar as so many have suggested. But I do not know how to get proscar from a doctor to hairloss reason. I live in CT. Can someone nearby tell me how they got their proscar?
  11. Don't you need a dermatologist or hair loss doctor to prescribe hair loss treatments? I mean, would my primary care doc give it to me?
  12. So ive been reading many suggestions on this site for men with MPB to immediately get on finesteride. I'm 33 now and have been very slowly losing hair just in the hairline region since I was 16. I'm a slow balder In the past 3 years I have had 2 transplants totalling 1700 grafts and the coverage is excellent. You really cant tell I am losing hair unless you look super close up. I have been avoiding finesteride because I dont like medicine in general, and the potential for permanent sexual side affects is too scary. But I think I may bite the bullet and try finesteride because the hairloss will just get worse. I called the transplant doctor's office today and asked him to write me a prescription, and they said we can give you propecia. I replied can you give me Proscar instead because i've read online the pill can be cut up and it's much cheaper for the same thing. They said "we only give propecia, ill have to check with the doctor if he is willing to prescribe proscar. How did all of you get Proscar? Did your doctor's give you a hard time about it?
  13. i buzz my back and sides short, but long enough to hide the scar. I am always afraid in well lit situations, people will still see my scar. So I do not like it when people stand behind me in line. As for the front, i am afraid of a very sunny day
