  1. It seems I'm experiencing some thinning above my ears/sideburns area and around my neckline. The hair there is getting very wiry and kinky. Its not as noticeable when its cut shorter but when it grows out I can tell. The area also happens to itch somewhat frequently and it seems I can pull 1-2 hair out each time I try to in the area. I'm going to have a biopsy and some blood work done in the not to distant future but was wondering if anyone has/had experienced this? thanks!

  2. i'll put it as simply as i can...this guy looks awesome. he's lucky to have such thick hair and i really like the hairline placement and softeness. i'd be interested to see how he looks with some thickening wax instead of gel. i have a a few relatives and friends w/ full heads of hair and when they gel their hair it shows scalp. its cool to see a ht can be styled in multiple ways. thanks joe!

  3. first of all there is no set age like the emperor claims where hair loss stabilizes. it may be sooner or it may be later or it may be never. secondly nw7's imo arent candidates for procedures. thirdly, there is a lot of bad advice in this thread. people say 'do your research' before a ht but what they really should say is talk to a ht doctor who can better educate you, not some random internet poster who thinks he knows something. just my two cents...

  4. u are very misinformed valiant. dont get a ht unless u take propecia, whats the point u will just continue to lose more hair. and dont 'fill in the temples' so it looks good 'for a few yrs'. ht's are life long decisions and should last and be planned as such. im guessing u are very young, you really need to consult a reputable ht clinic like hasson and wong or smg.

  5. labrat, i definitely see what you are saying, and i think u answered your own question. i think u have to look at youw own family history as a guide and not look at anyone else's. the range of outcomes other people will tell u they experienced will be too disperse to tell with any certainty what will happen with u. u have your own genetic pattern.

with that said i hd a grandpa who was much the same way as yours, so maybe i'll be they same way as him.

if i were you, i wouldnt be too worried about progressing to much more. your family history and response to proscar are good indicators for this. of course im not a ht doc so i would consult with them, but no sense in going thru life (which statistically is half over for u) worried too much about this. even if u waited another 20 yrs and got a ht at 60 what would that accomplish? u would just worry if u would advance over the next 20 yrs.

most likely, your donor hair will stay strong well into your 60's and likely even 70's. u have already shown proscar works well for u and it will likely continue to work well for u. just my two cents..

  6. CVS Pharmacy is a great place to get them and I just switched there from my local pharmacy. You can do it all online and if you are a stickler they even carry the brand name proscar. Just have a docotr call in the prescription or if you have the Rx number you just just switch it manually yourself. Its about 70 dollars in total. The best part is they send it right to your house, so you don't have to wait in line or make trips to the pharmacy every 3-4 months. Check it out.

  7. good post. i think its important to remember that propecia has only been around to treat hair loss for a little over ten yrs, thats not a long time at all. I'm not sure a cure is coming anytime soon, and the 5-10 yr thing on cloning has been the number for forever now, but i think its safe to say there will absolutely be better treatments available as we age. its important to remember that we are in the infant stages of things like stem cell therapy ect. and that it takes awhile to get fda approval on things.
