Yeah but I think its pretty clear propecia has had a significant effect. Look at the temple points in the before and after. Clearly hair in an area there was none before. Have to imagine the top also benefited.

how many grafts does this gentleman have left?
-
joe can we get a clarification on some of these questions? thanks!
-
dr lindsey, we all know what post op pics look like. not saying they arent useful, but again, please start posting 12 month results from now on if u have any of those...
-
Joe is there any way you could post post-op pics and answer how much finasteride helped this result? thanks!
-
Not as low of a hairline? This looks perfectly natural to me and the hairline didn't need to go lower.
??? you obviously missed the point of the question.
-
joe...was wondering if b/c his natural hairline was so low that it took up more grafts and he got less coverage than someone who might have similar characteristics and not as low of a hairline if that makes sense.

great result by dr hasson. any idea how many grafts he has left in the donor bank and how old is he?

Hey all, been on proscar almost a year now. Haven't really noticed a reduction in shedding (in fact going thru a 'shed' as we speak) all that much but been taking pics along the way both wet and dry to measure its effectiveness. Here are a few before and after pics both wet and dry. The first wet pic is taken in december and the second one was taken today. Same thing goes for the dry pics. My hair looks and feels a bit more 'fluffy' these days as well. Let me know what you all think...
-
Hey Janna any updates from this patient? Also did you happen to get my email? thanks!
-
Joe did you get my PM's?
-
i dont get why people equate shedding and hair loss. some people hardly shed hair yet are still losing hair, others shed a lot and dont lose hair.
personally, ive been on proscar almost a yr now and ive been taking pic along the way to see if its helped. i really havent noticed a decrease in shedding but what i have noticed is that my hair basically looks the same as it did at this time last yr.
just keep taking it and evaluate in a yr.
-
anyone have anything to add? i will say that it seems like its gotten worse since when i started taking finasteride almost a yr ago. the fin seems to have stabilized things on top i think but the area above my ears has definitely gotten worse. anyone know what this could be from?

I take it they are legit?

I am now a NW4-5 and 26 years old, balding since 17. No frontal hairline and a narrow "landing strip" to the back of my head. I buzz my hair with a setting 1 on the shaver and i can see that the hair on top of my head is very thin although i haven't let the hair grow since 2006.
My dad and grandfather are bald, my dad balder than my grandfather but he has decent hair on the sides of his head, has the "landing strip" over his head.
I don't want to do any drugs to save what little i have left, so my options are to live with this, always buzz down and be noticable balding at this age, it's been terrible and a life changing thing, my personality has suffered immensely because of this, i used to be pretty popular with girls and was confident about how i looked and it felt so good, about 10x the amount of happiness i can feel at my best today... That's what life's supposed to feel like. So my only other option to have hair (except getting a hairpiece which i think everybody agrees is not the way to go), is to have a hair transplant.
God knows how bald i will eventually be, but judging by when i started to go bald, i will probably be a full NW6-7 eventually. So in there lies the problem, there is a definate chance i won't have enough donor hair. I think i don't have to explain that problem to most of you guys. It basicly means i can never have good looking hair, i could maybe get some ugly fuzz on top of my head but not alot more. That's NOT what i'm going for.
My though was to get a FUE transplant to get filled up on the hairline and get at least SOME coverage on top, keep my hair buzzed at a setting 1-2 and get some tattoo pigmentation to fill in and make it look denser. (I've seen some amazing results with tattoo's but the problem is that if somebody touches your head... It's probably pretty creepy because they will know that there is no hair there). There will be some donor scars with the FUE, i can get those little holes either tattooed with hair or skin color.
How do you guys like that plan? Do you think it's viable?
Hey man I wouldnt go for the tatoo or do fue. Honestly, if it is bothering this much, I would try a hair system. toplace makes awesome ones and u cant even tell the are pieces. they look awesome and they are custom made for your hair. give it a try and if u dont like that u can always choose not to wear it anymore.
-
I agree with tsakalos...the guy has NO hairloss and is crazy if he thinks he does. Beginnings of hair loss? I dont think so, the guy is a NW1.5, just b/c his hairline isnt as straight as an arrow anymore (and this always happens with age), doesnt mean u are experiencing hair loss.

Janna over at smg sent me this when i asked her about the lasercomb:
We don’t carry the newest version of the laser comb by hairmax yet but you can purchase it online on their website. Go to ** promotional link removed ** . The rechargeable, cordless one is their newest comb. It’s quite expensive at $470 for each unit but Dr. Ron feels they have been coming up with some good studies to show it is working to thicken hairs enough see a difference.

Lorenzo, thanks for sharing. its nice to hear that meds have helped your friends maintain (for those who are taking nit and need it) and that the ones who did get ht's, those have withstood the test of time. seems like no one really talks about hair to much with u guys and that u guys take it as just a part of growing older! ive always wondered what a woman would think if i loose more hair as i age so its always reassuring to hear that they will still love u for who u are regardless...
-
Cool story thanks Lorenzo. Can I ask how your friends feel about hair loss as they aged? I assume most of your younger friends weren't losing their hair when you were younger but maybe are now. Do they make comments or has it been as you all are getting older its just a part of life? How about how the women in your life view you guys? I figure as you get older looks become less and less important but curious to hear your experiences. Thanks Lorenzo and keep growing well!
-
hey lorenzo looks great man that growth is just beginning.
you say hairloss isnt as important to you as it once was. can you put into words how time has given you perspective on hairloss and how you have changed from worrying about it all the time to not? thanks!

could this be a thyroid problem??
-
read my second paragraph again.
also what if u progress to a nw 6-7...a ht wont give u anywhere close to a full head of hair. people forget a ht is just an illusion of density and not real density.

I really think the internet is to blame about the hype of propecia and side effects. The fact is that just as many people had side effects in the placebo group as those that did in the test group of fda studies, which btw was less than 2%.
You need to take propecia to keep your donor hair healthy and keep the hair you still have left. "Filling in with transplants" wont replace what you already have. Hair is a nonrenewable resource and once its gone its likely gone forever. Why spend 10,000 dollars on a ht only to keep having to go back and back to b/c you lose more hair? Your scalp will keep getting tighter and tighter and your yield will be smaller and smaller.
Most people here will tell you they dont experience sides (and if they do they are temporary) and that it has done a good job at keeping their hair. When i first started taking proscar I was worried about the sides so much and actually convinced myself I was getting them. When I stopped worrying about them and just took the dam pill I was fine. Talk to any ht surgeon here and ask them about their patients experiences with propecia if you dont believe me.
