  1. Hi hdude46,

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, those pics are a little blurry as my camera isn't great. I can try again and post some current photos. Let's see, I'm almost two years out now from my second HT so I think it would indeed be helpful to post current pics. I'm basically unchanged from those 7 mos. photos and still very happy. Of course, I have hair greed and would love to have a little more density in the crown, but that is the black hole region and maybe no matter how many transplants I had, I'd never fully be satisfied. I just wanted some coverage over the glaring dome and I certainly got that. From straight on, I don't look like I'm balding at all. From a helicopter view, I look like a 45 year-old man with some thinning going on in back. Pretty much like most of my friends my age. I can live with that. If I came into a bunch of money, I'd consider a third procedure, but for now I've spent enough and have other financial priorities. Like I've said before, I accomplished what I set out to and the effect on my life has been nothing but positive.

I'll try to get some updated pics up soon.

    Tao,

Thanks your for responding so soon. Like you said your hair looks awesome. Would love to see some clearer up to date pics if you could. That would be helpful. It doesn't appear like the bald spot in your crown is that big. Has Dr. Konior indicated how much donor hair you have left? If you ever got that filled in it would like you never lost a hair in your life. I'm also curious how most of your friends, male and female, view hairloss. Has it changed from when you were younger?

  2. the_bald_reality_2012,

I hear ya. I can understand where you're coming from and the frustration you feel. I met with a few charlatans and I still feel dirty for even having talked with them. And yes, this HT stuff can be a slippery slope where one is constantly chasing something that is ultimately elusive. And yes, I agree that self esteem and acceptance should come from within and not stem from the amount of hair one has or the clothes one wears or the car one drives, etc. But it's not quite as black and white as you make it out to be. My experience with Dr. Konior was excellent. He was straight up with me about expectations and what could and could not be achieved and he was in the room almost the entire time for both of my procedures. Do I have the hair of a 20 year old now? Nope. But did my HTs meet my expectations? Nope. They far exceeded them in my case. And I have posted my pics and my experience below. For me, I definitely made the right choice and wouldn't change anything. I'd be OK with being bald as I'm in great physical shape, have a lot of friends and know that in the big picture, hair is really nothing. But I did my homework, had my expectations in line with reality and pulled the trigger and it worked out for me with very little fuss at all. Maybe I'm just one of the few lucky ones, but I don't think so. I've seen too many good results.

That said, I've seen plenty of horror stories too and concede that if that had been my experience, then I'd probably be writing the same things you are. In any case, I think its good that all experiences - the good, the bad, and the ugly - are expressed here so people contemplating HTs get the full spectrum of this HT business. Then they can make up their own minds. So thanks for your input and thanks for being civil as well. Cheers.

I have read your blog and your results look amazing. I noticed though that the pics of the 2nd HT are kind of blurry and only 7 months out. Is there any way you would be kind enough to post a few updated pics? Thank you!

  3. Thanks man. Had two procedures by a doctor this site recommended who has now been removed as a member. I wear a lace piece which looks very real. People can't believe it when I tell them I'm wearing one and they aren't saying that to be polite. The fact it is so breathable did not affect the growth. In fact I consulted with Dr. Bernstein in NY about this before my procedure and he said that it would have no adverse effect on the growth. I only wear it for eight hours during the day at work during weekdays.

can you post pics? smg is the king of ht's so im surprised to hear you aren't getting good growth. Is your head too scarred and messed up from the previous doc?

  4. This video series has been nice to watch. Its good to hear how patients feel about their HT first hand.

Do you know if Ken plans on having another session? While the 2500 grafts went a long way there is still some bald and thinning gaps on his head. I don't see how he can possibly grown dreadlocks like he wants but it will be interesting to see.

  5. It sounds like you don't have realistic expectations of what a HT can do (and at your age no way you should be thinking about surgery). You're balding will progress and my guess is significantly, especially if you don't get on meds. This is not a quick fix now or for in 10 years where yo say you will spend another 10K to fix it again. You need to have a consultation with a reputable doctor (smg, hasson and wong etc) and educate yourself on what you are getting into and what realistically can be achieved. If you're balding in the crown at 21 that is NOT a good sign. A HT does NOT restore you a full head of hair and your dreams about being demanding and having a low hairline you can pretty much kiss away. Balding is PROGRESSIVE and if you think its bad now just wait to see what you look like in 10 years. Its not going to magically stop. I'm sorry but you are nowhere near ready for surgery both physically or emotionally.

Get on propecia and rogaine then revisit your situation after you turn 25.

  6. you're in way over your head if you dont see a problem going in for a third surgery after already using 4k grafts. its a pretty safe bet you will look like a freak as you lose more hair, and make no mistake you will lose more hair. how about you post some pics. sounds like you are rushing into these surgeries and have no idea about what is smart and what are realistic expectations. you really need to slow way down.

Thank you for the replys. It's highly appreciated and this forum has been great! I'm looking forward to engaging more with members and getting some feedback.

I'm leaning towards Dr. Rahal but Dr. Feller has some amazing results.

I checked out your pics 'hairthere' and I'm very impressed with Dr. Fellers results.

I have wavey thick hair, somewhat similar to the structure of yours

As far as going with a 3rd operation, I'll see what the doctors recommend but I'm really hoping to go thru with it soon. I don't really see the problem if this can be my last and final surgery.

And I guess I just want to get it done to get the results that I want and put the hair problem behind me.

I'm currently taking propecia which seems to help and using Nioxin shampoo.

  7. I dont think I can because there is a confidentiality. Let me find out.

How is there confidentiality when you are saying people are commenting on his pics online and another doctor is using his photos as his own as well? If his pics were confidential this would not be possible Please post pics if you can. Thanks

  8. I just got back from my doc and he didn't know about using Avodart for hair loss and wouldn't recommend using it. I guess I will stick to fin. I went off generic and started Proscar split up a month ago. I didn't see any results from the generic. When I started using years ago I used the brand propecia and saw good results.

then get back on the brand stuff. seems simple enough to me.

  9. This shot reveals that one more session should give Emperor much better results. He would probably want to focus on the hairline and frontal third and give up on the crown, or fue the crown to get some light coverage. That's the reality of HTs. You need a ton of grafts, especially with fine hair, to achieve an acceptable appearance....

really? he already had 6500 graphs! how much donor does he have left? not much is my guess. its a bad result i dunno why people insist on putting lipstick on a pig. some people would be happy with this result. if this were me i wouldnt be.

  10. "When I went to see Dr. Feller for my PRP treatment, I asked him how many ppl he had treated with PRP and how many responded well or at all.. His response was, "3 out of 47".. "

The above quote is not true. Never happened.

Dr feller thank you for your response. Can you share any updates? dr greco implied on another forum that you are using prp that is different than his. His direct quote was "Regarding Dr Feller, who I have a high professional regard, would be the first to tell you that we are using something different than straight PRP. Not all cellular therapy is the same. "

I would really like to try this therapy since i am young, have a relatively decent head of hair, and would like its focus to be on the crown. however i have been discouraged by the lack of updates and testimonials.

would you be willing to post and update and possibly put me in touch with some of your satisfied prp patients? thanks!
