There are only 2 concerns that I have about this result, firstly the photo does not clearly show how the hair has grown and doesn't give any indication whether it has density or not. The comment regarding that the technicians placed the grafts at an 90% angle and its unclear whether the angle is correct or not? My understanding is that the graft should have the same angle as the other hair that surrounds it.

I've heard that this doctor Dr.Kongkiat Laorwong, MD who operates Absolute Hair Clinic in Phuket is a good HT surgeon and he does FUE. I'm not recommending him just letting you know that there are other options for you to consider and research. Prices in Thailand are much cheaper than $7 Singapore.

I have to say that I've never heard of this doctor but it goes to show that there are other good quality surgeons in Canada apart from the usual. Your results, whilst not spectacular, do look rock solid and it appears you've had a good result.

Expect another 10% growth/thickening in the next six months.

As a 21 year old I must have been dumb because I didn't even look at my hair because I was having so much fun going out clubbing with friends and drinking beer. My mother had to tell me that she thought my hair was getting thin and by that time I'd probably lost about 50% of my hair. I sure wish there was medication around like there is today!

Have a good life, stop worrying pointlessly because there will be far worse things that can happen to you. I can guarantee that...

I'm done at 2 HT's and won't ever make the top 5 on this website. The results have been worth it but I don't want to go under the knife anymore and I want to enjoy my holidays. It would have been great if I could have had this much hair 10 years ago

I've just had my second HT and my surgeon told me that my donor area is exhausted and I've had 5815 grafts used. My scalp laxity isn't good either and the grafts taken second time had a vast majority of singles and doubles, whereas my first HT there were quite a few 3 hair grafts and a few 4's.

You must have an amazing donor area and laxity.

I think that Doctor Radha does a trichophytic closure as taught by Doctor Pathomvanich from DHT Clinic. This was the same closure technique that his Assistant Doctor Kulukarn used when I had my hair transplant with her. As I mentioned I think some doctors use staples as well.

Its good for you to do as much research as possible. When I had my HT in 2010 I thought that I had done my homework but there were a couple of things that I was not aware of about the procedure. It worked out well in the end but its still best to do your good research prior to committing to a HT.

I'm not a surgeon but from my understanding the vertical sutures that you can see are part of the usual trichophytic closure. My first HT with DHT Clinic in 2010 was done the exact same way.

The suture were removed by the doctor after day 6 and the only stitches in the closure are the dissolvable one's at the moment. Personally, the closure looks quite good to my untrained eyes. Have you done much in the way of researching FUT procedures?

Is this your first HT with DHT Clinic? I found them to be a very professional team and try their best to provide consistent hair transplant results.

I had a second HT with a surgeon who trained with Doctor Pathomvanich for 18 months and she speaks very highly of him. I hope your HT grows well for you.

I'm from Australia as well and I've done a lot of research on HT surgeons in Thailand.

1. DHT Clinic - Doctor Pathomvanich is the pre-eminent HT surgeon in Asia and no one in Australia is providing consistently good results like his clinic does. I had my HT surgery with them in 2010 and had a good result.

2. Thai Hair Clinic (chiang mai) - Doctor Pong has some customers providing good results on the forum but he isn't a recommended surgeon on the forum and hasn't been pre-screened.

3. Absolute Hair Clinic (phuket) - Dr.Kongkiat Laorwong has a small amount of traffic on the forum and appears to be getting good feedback but there isn't a lot of information about him. He was trained by Doctor Pathomvanich which is a good sign.

Donor hair is precious and you only have about 6000 - 8000 grafts that can be used which means you need to be careful who does your surgery. I've never heard of the doctor that you mentioned which is a bit of a read flag to me.

I'm back in Australia and have faster internet access and I'm uploading all the photographs that were taken at Doctor Radha's clinic and providing details of my surgery.

Procedure: Hair transplant Surgery using FUG via strip method

Size of the session: 2075 FUG

Session: II

Donor area:

Hair parameters: Donor hair density is 65%. Hair colour - dark brown. Hair calibre – 0.68mm

Chosen donor area extended from left supra auricular area to right supra auricular area, through mid occiput above the nuchal ridge. The previous scar is low. Therefore, the new strip is marked 1cm above the existing scar (poster comments: the grafts from the lower scar were of poor quality and I was given the option of having a second scar 1cm higher where the grafts were of a better calibre. This decision was made by me and I was fully informed by Doctor Radha. She normally excises the previous scar leaving the patient with one scar). Donor laxity is 26%. Strip removed is 33.2sq.cm. Wound is closed using trichophytic closure. Tight scalp made approximation and closure difficult. Bleeding at the time of surgery is average and controlled without cauterisation.

350 one hair FUG are given to existing hairline to add density. Hairline is not lowered.

900 two hair FUG are given to the front half of the top of the scalp. This grafting begins behind the hairline with approximate density of 30%, and extends to 5-6cm beyond hairline with lesser density. 555 two hair grafts are given to crown at approximately 20% density.

The only thing that I was disappointed with had nothing to do with the surgeon but with the quality of grafts that I had available for the second surgery. My first surgery I had 108 grafts per sqcm and this had been reduced to 65 per sqcm (I was warned by Doctor Radha during our email consultation not to be expect the above average quality of grafts that I had in my first procedure) and single hair grafts were far more numerous and my 3 and 4 hair grafts were greatly reduced. Not the problem of the Doctor nor technicians. This is my last HT as I believe I have exhausted my donor supply. Basically, my goal is to have a denser hairline and thin coverage in the crown region. I have commenced finpecia as suggested by the surgeon.

Perhaps, some of the younger forum members should be aware of this when they opt for aggressive hairlines that if they require surgeries in the future their donor area may be exhausted.

I still hold DHT Clinic in Thailand very highly but I do believe that Doctor Radha's clinic in India is another good option for patients from Asia and Australia to consider (although I found it more difficult travelling to India than Thailand). I found Doctor Radha to be very dedicated to the art of hair restoration and her team appeared to operate very efficiently. I know that I was a difficult patient because I kept squirming during the procedure.

However, the final result is the most important aspect of any HT surgery and I will update this thread on a regular basis for forum members.

Hi,

From my understanding depending on the exercise it could be the recipient area (lower yield) and if lifting heavy weights the scar may stretch a bit. The clinic is obviously being conservative with their approach just in case a client goes full bore exercising after a short time after their HT.

Hi Wrapper my doctors post-op recommendation is to avoid swimming in chlorine pools for 4 weeks because the chemicals may be harmful to the newly transplanted grafts.

Btw when you had you surgery with Doctor Pathomvanich did you get to meet Doctor Kulukarn? She performed my HT 18 months ago and she's a good surgeon and nice lady.

The photo are a bit small but from what I can see the work looks refined but its now a waiting game for at least the next six months.

Try not to look at yourself in the mirror every 5 minutes and follow your post op recommendations from your doctor.

About 1.5 years ago I tried finasteride but I suffered from a lack of libido and therefore stopped using the medication. I will say though that I gave up after about a week and I recently underwent my second HT and my surgeon suggested giving it a try again.

I'll try it for a bit longer this time and see whether I have the same side effects.

I'm in the same boat as you because I've had a surgery with a non-recommended surgeon that I discovered on this forum and I've had a wonderful experience. But if we don't provide evidence to forum members its entirely useless for other members to make an informed decision whether they wish to have a procedure with the surgeon.

I've been on the forum a couple of years now and we all need to document our progress. Even the best doctors show the best results and not the average one's.
