  1. That is really good...because I can not tell which are from 9 years ago and which are current....you are an example that drug treatment really works for some.
  2. First I would like to say that I have mild temporal recession and thinning...but nothing most people would notice unless they were gazing. On that down side if I ever do go bald bald, my head looks like a Shar Pei dog and it will be pretty unattractive (Cutis Verticus Gyrata). I would then consider a transplant or scalp surgery. Back to my point, I want to reassure the guys on here that are really depressed that you are not alone, but you also do not have to be depressed. Shave your head, don't shave it, do whatever you want but you will always be you. The good news is that women over say 30-35...a vast majority do not rule out bald guys and some even prefer them. My head is friggin jacked at I have swung very attractive women with my jacked up mellon even shaved (in the military). I have read about a lot of young guys that are saying that their life is ruined over this....and no, it really is not. I am 31 and guess I am getting a little older and seen a lot of things and places and I can say that you only get 1 shot in this world...1 life...and 1 go around. Please do not let hair loss ruin your life. I am taking fin, using nizoral 2 times a week and taking vitamins like biotin and zinc.....other then that...I am really working on being at peace with whatever happens as far as my hairloss is concerned....I tell my self....do what you can do to help your situation, but be happy. (I admitt sometimes I have to say that more often then others.) I don't mean to preach but just wanted to say that it is ok to be you and you can swing chicks with hairloss....according to the ladies....the hottest dude at the hospital I work at is this bald guy (who happens to be my best friend) It took him a while to accept it but he now shaves his head and is happy....and all the ladies love him...there is hope....Keep your heads up guys
  3. I let the Nizoral sit on my head for a while....but my question is would I be washing the medication off it I followed with another shampoo in the same shower sitting? I only am using about 2 times a week. This stuff fro's my hair out by drying it.
  4. I have done a lot of googling and have not found a solid answer for this question.... What is the loingterm effectiveness of finasteride? i.e. Does is stop working over time? also Can you screw up by starting to early? I know that this is the place to ask....there is a lot of knowledge here!!
  5. Thanks for the replies guys. I am cutting one pill at a time...so I should be good on the degrading. My hair is wet in those pics but I am definately starting to receed....I doubt I would ever be "bald" anyway since I am about to be 32 and have a pretty full head....but I plan on keeping as much as possible. I think I was headed towards the Kevin Spacey look eventually. I just wanted to hear someone else say that I made the right call...cause my wife said I was being stupid. Taking this may even make me healther because I also started taking vitamins and fish oil (bad cholesterol).
  6. I agree.....TONS of men have ED issues that do not take fin.....get checked....I jsut started taking and I am experienceing a little lower libido.....an dam happy about it....I was killin my wife...
  7. yeah, I would call that a mature hairl line....the propecia/proscar will most likely help you in the crown area.
  8. I think that every person is different and I think that finasteride does work in the front top portion and less so in the temple area....the way to look at it is if you want to keep what you have for as long as you can, start the meds.....if not....shave it and rock on!
  9. So I go into a derm's office and tell him my worry about receeding and he does not even look at my hair and perscribes me generic Proscar at 5 mg....so I started taking it. I only have minituration at the temples (that I can tell). I also have Cutis Verticus Gyrata which means basically I have a wrinkled scalp....so I am very interested in keeping my hair and I do not think that this condition is helpful. That said...I really do not want to have a transplant but depending on how my thinning progresses....I could make a decision to have some work done. My goal is to stop any hair loss progression. Also....I have not had very much change in my hair in the last 5 years but I thik this is a little more than maturation....but did not want to sit around and wait for it...I have a family history of baldness in about 1/2 of my family. Back to the story...I am taking the finasteride now and have a couple questions... Looking at my pics do you think that was a good call...meaning would you have started if you were me? Again, the derm did not even look at me. Is cutting the generic proscar as effective as Propecia? I am a little worried a bout a bottle lasting 4 months....meaning is it still effective keeping that long. Finally, any other suggestions? ....oh yeah...I started using Nizoral 1% 3 days a week as well....just doing what I can to maintain...ya know...
  10. Hi all, first post! I am 31 years old and am experiencing temoral recession past what I would consider maturation. I can not tell that I an thinning on the vertex or crown...my wife says I am not. In fact she acts like I am crazy to want to start propecia....we am I? I am definately receeding some (I have always had high temporal "peaks") and want to keep all the hair I can. How do I know when a good time to start taking propecia is?
