  1. records are made to be broken eh. haha it aint much, just can see some peach fuzz sprouting.
  2. you got any more updates for your weblog? im sure your hair is looking great now. i kinda had a feeling i would be an early grower just cause im still young and active. i work out like 3-4 times a week and play sports and stuff. its weird when im working out and my blood is pumping i can feel these tingling sensations in my recipient area. it just feels like early growth. although i dont want to jinx myself so im gonna shutup about it now. anyway, ya its gonna be fun feeling confident and picking up women again.
  3. good luck to you. i considered going to med school as well, but i screwed around for to long after high school and just don't have the time anymore. I settled on finishing my bachelor of science and becoming a medical laboratory technician.
  4. thanks, i'm hoping everything turns out how i imagined it. so far everything has gone great. i was looking at your weblog and had a question. what percentage of your transplanted hairs would you say shed? you still had a fair amount left after the first couple months and i assume they didn't shed at all. Im kinda in the same boat, alot of mine didn't shed, but it's hard to tell just how many stayed and how many shed.
  5. Im at a month and a half and starting to notice peach fuzz coming in my recipient area. I also have a few pimples, one that is kinda big. Is it ok to try and pop it or should i just leave it be?

  7. you know that the only real difference in training between a DO and an MD are that DO's are trained to use physical rehabilitation as well as pharmaceuticals to heal patients while an MD is just trained treat everything with pills. Both are trained the same in regards to surgery. I believe Dr. Feller is a DO and he is one of the best hair restoration surgeons in the world. i think the bosley surgeon who i had a consultation with was a board certified surgeon and an MD. However, i wouldn't ever let that guy touch my head.
  8. Ask a friend or family member if you can borrow their digital camera and upload some pics. None of us can really help without SEEING what type of loss your experiencing. Without seeing pics, i'm assuming your just overreacting like most guys do when they start to notice their hair is thinning. I doubt anyone but you can even notice your hair-loss. I went through the same thing as you when i was your age. I thought my hair looked horrible, i started freaking out. However, nobody else except me noticed a thing. It took until i was 23-24 for my hair-loss to even become noticeable to others. Try and post some pics so we can see if your just overreacting or truly are experiencing significant loss for your age.
  9. ya propecia/finasteride is the most important. The majority of guys who take it experience side affects for the first few weeks sometimes months. It should all pass, and if it doesn't you can just stop taking it. Get a script from your doc for 5mg proscar (same as propecia except its 5mg) or generic finasteride. Many insurance companies will cover this but won't cover propecia because it's strictly for hair-loss and insurance companies dont cover cosmetic expenses. cut the 5mg pill into fourths (1.25mg) and take one every day.
  10. your way to young to make the claim your hair loss was an isolated incident and not MPB. Give it a few more years to see if you notice any further progression. I remember when i started losing my hair it would go in waves. Seemed like every six-eight months my hair would suddenly shed excessively then stabilize for another six-eight months and so on. At least go see a dermatologist first to determine the actual cause of your hair-loss.
  11. I guess you can take a pill to a pharmacist and ask if they can determine if its real or not. Or you could just take them for a few months and see if start to notice any results. Next time just get a script from your doc and you wont have to worry.
  12. Dr. Haber is the recommended doctor in Ohio. If you close to Detroit i would also recommend Dr. Tessler. You would most likely be able to get it all in one surgery. 3 weeks should be plenty of time to have your head look presentable. If you have a decent amount of hair right now you should be able to conceal it entirely. it is highly recommended you continue taking finasteride after the surgery. it will slow or stop further progression, and may help the new hairs grow in quicker and thicker, although that is just a theory.
  13. your in good hands my friend, i had surgery with Dr. Tessler May 21st and everything has gone excellent to date. Tessler will evaluate and assess your situation without you even having to ask a question. even still, don't shy away from asking questions if something concerns you.
  14. i wouldn't worry so much. just cut the pill into fourths and you should be fine. It's not uncommon for people to experience side effects for the first few weeks or sometimes even months. if they last longer than a couple months discontinue the drug or consult your doctor.
  15. this may seem like a stupid question, but does anyone think there is a difference in taking finasteride at night as opposed to the morning or afternoon? Perhaps the body produces more testosterone at a certain time or something of that nature. Just curious to know when you guys take the pill.
  16. dont worry, if you got a coalition doc your in good hands. that guy in the article is a fool. he obviously didn't do his research. i'm not sure when he got his procedure done but the surgical methods used on him are ancient. your doc will be using ultra refined follicular unit grafting. when used by a qualified, experienced surgeon, the method produces amazing results. also which doctor did you choose? you don't have to be secretive about it. were all in the same boat, people are here to help.
  17. i started working out again after a week and a half. after i got my sutures out i didn't feel any pain or tightness in my donor area. i am pretty young and healed up pretty quick. i would say if you have your stitches out and dont feel any discomfort you can proceed on to a light workout and build up from there.
  18. ya i actually just started to take it at night before i go to bed. already have noticed a difference. i dont think you can become immune to finasteride though. for some people the drug has little or no effect, but if you are one of the 90% of men who experience the benefits it wont change unless you stop taking it.
  19. first, you DO NOT want to go to PAI. that is an outdated technique. Epstein uses ultra refined follicular unit grafting, which is state of art. Epstein is also a coalition surgeon, which means the results he produces are consistently excellent. I have never heard of Dr. Stoller. As far as the "reggie bush" haircut, it's hard to say if the scar would be visible or not. Look at it like this, you will most likely be able to shave your head down with a 3 clip, maybe a 2, without anyone noticing your scar. That is assuming you go to Epstein, or another coalition surgeon, who use the trico closure method which produces a very small, fine scar. One more question, how old are you?
  20. i agree with orangehair. another thing that younger patients have on their side is that technology will only get better as the years go on. it is a forgone conclusion that hair cloning, more advanced medicine and better surgical techniques will be available at some point in the future. i will say a young patient should not rely on this and pack 3000 grafts into their hairline. however, i believe it affords a young patient the opportunity to go ahead with a smaller procedure at a young age.
  21. yes i know, i wanted to make some corrections so i disabled it for the time being. i'll activate it and work on it later. Although, in regards to dewayne, i'm only a month post-op so there isn't much to see yet and my pictures arn't the greatest, alittle blurry. unfortunately i dont own a digital camera so it's difficult for me to post new pics.
  22. in addition to cooley and alexander, rahal, true, dorin, and my doc (tessler), whom none of you seem to know about, dont shave. i do agree that for large sessions, shaving down is very helpful for the surgeon and techs. however, i dont think it's necessary for smaller sessions. I agree with what Bill said, all the docs in the coalition do great work. some people are just to easily convinced that some docs are better than others because they post pics on this website. my doc, tessler, does fantastic work, he's been doing hair transplants for over 30 years, he's been listed in the best doctors in america for over 10 years running. yet none of you know about him because he doesn't post his work on this site.
  23. in my opinion, from the research i have done, i have seen no benefit from shaving down. The before and after photos of patients who were shaved are no better than the patients who were not shaved. I really don't understand why some docs find it necessary. The docs are wearing high powered microscopic lenses, they should be able to work around your native hair without shaving. I don't think i would ever go to a doctor who required shaving, its just not necessary, and makes it impossible to hide your recipient area post-op.
  24. Why must you be SO discrete? Who cares if your doctor knows if you had a hair transplant? I'm sure he's seen much crazier things than a hair transplant. Do you hang out with your doctor or something?
  25. is that really true about lazyness and "brain fog" being side affects of finasteride? I have noticed i've been kinda lazy and have had problems focusing and studying for my classes. Never thought it was because of fin. I've been thinking about getting back on adderall because it's been a problem. sucks cause i hate the side affects of adderall, but it works.
