  1. depending on your age, donor density, and hair texture a qualified surgeon will not only restore your hairline, but can give you a great hairline if possible. Most surgeons will take into account your face shape and hair style when drawing your new hairline out. There is nothing wrong with doing some research of your own to give the doctor your input.
  2. i have had some slight problems as well with finasteride. i can still get an erection but its not as hard/firm as it used to be. i've only been on it for a couple months and i'm hoping it will all pass and perhaps is psychological, but im having the problem with a girlfriend who ive been with for 5 years. If it doesn't change soon, i'll have to look into other alternatives.
  3. whats the general time frame for the newly transplanted follicles to start shedding? Do they usually all shed around the same time or do some follicles shed quicker and others take longer? From what i understand the follicles usually shed when the crusts start coming off around 8-14 days. Is that right? Would it be strange for some to shed before most of the other ones do?

  5. most of us on this site recommend avoiding bosley and other franchise practices because your chances of landing a great surgeon with experience is decreased. It doesn't mean all bosley surgeons are bad but not all are good, so results can be very inconsistent. If you can, post some pictures and people will give you their opinions of the work you had done. I've never heard propecia causes cancer, but let me ask you what doesn't cause cancer these days? People who devote their life to living healthy and exercising can develop cancer just like somebody who smokes, eats unhealthy, etc. I've always believed that like hair-loss, cancer is associated with a genetic pre-disposition. Many things like smoking, eating unhealthy, etc can expedite the disease. Its all related to genetics, all it can take is one mutation in your genetic code for the disease to form.
  6. agreed, see a coalition doc and you will have no worries.
  7. haha not sure, probably was watching baseball tonight or something. Tigers fan all the way, but i do have lance berkman on my fantasy team which is sweet. I'll try to take some clearer pictures, i'm borrowing the digital camera so i'm not exactly sure how to use all the features quite yet.

  10. I read an article a few years ago that said anywhere from 30-50% of the famous actors that have hair are actually bald or balding. Therefore, a good amount of stars have had hair restoration procedures. My surgeon (Dr. Tessler) has performed surgery on many local celebrities in the Detroit area.
  11. Thinman, while i still say if this is something you really want then do it. However, it makes all the difference in selecting an excellent surgeon. While i will say i know nothing about Dr. Reyes, she seems more concerned about getting your money rather then performing your surgery. Like many others have said, finding out information such as how many grafts, fue punch hole size, etc is imperative. It's very strange she has not discussed this with you. With your amount of loss a FUT procedure seems to make much more sense. Do not sacrifice your future to be a guinea pig for this doctor. If she says you can wait i would do so. You should do more research. Get an idea of what you can expect to achieve by viewing before and after photos of patients with your level of hairloss. In the end, i would fight her to get my deposit back. Find a surgeon here in the states or Canada. A hair transplant is just not something you want to seek a bargain on. Talk to your parents, im sure they know this is really bothering you. Maybe they would help out financially.
  12. I think the results you wish to achieve are reasonable. If possible, I would recommend having it all done in one session if you decide to go through with it. This will save you money, a lot of money. Have some consultations with the doctors on this website. Be sure to check out Dr's Hasson & Wong, as they are the mega-session specialists.
  13. you could maybe try a very small FUE procedure to add some hairs into your scar line.
  14. Is there a fairly standard ratio to 1,2,3+ grafts when removed via strip surgery? 2's are more common than 1's right? I had 1279 grafts yesterday with 379 1's, 656 2's, and 244 3's for a total of 2,423 hairs. Is that a fairly standard number for that amount of grafts?
  15. I don't have a digital camera, but Dr. Tessler's office will email me my before and after surgery photos. When i receive them, i will post them on my blog.
  16. other than some pain in my donor area from stitches, the procedure went extremely well. He used 1200+ grafts to fill in the temples and corners of my hairline. I hope to upload some pics as soon as Dr. Tessler's clinic emails me my before and after surgery photos. Staff was very helpful and courteous.

  18. im sorry you don't understand why i made that comment. I am young and i am having an HT this Wednesday. Although i am 25 and only a NW2. This kid is 22 years old and it must be devastating to have to deal with this kind of loss. Some of the doctors on this site have performed HT's on teenagers. Everyones situation is different, so who are you to say he's not a candidate? Unless your a doctor with a specialization in hair restoration surgery your opinion carries just as much weight as mine. I will say his situation is difficult but i still believe something can be done for him. Also, as i mentioned before, i would recommend not having the surgery done in the Dominican Republic.
  19. I guess i'm the only person on this site who agrees an HT is an option for you. You have basically lost most of your hair already. So therefore there is no need to wait any longer. Almost everyone on here will tell you your to young, but i will say your way to young to have lost this much hair. If your serious about doing something then do it, dont let someone else's opinion decide for you. Do get a few professional opinions. Contact some of the doctors on this website, schedule some consultations. I assure you something can be done for you. You will need to have reasonable expectations and may need to break it down into 2-3 surgeries over time. It will be expensive, anywhere from 6-10k per surgery. Do get on finasteride if not already. There is hope.
  20. Good luck with your procedure. I disagree that someone is too young to get a hair transplant! (Assuming you dont use 3000 grafts on your hairline lol) You obviously are very concerned with your appearance, and your hair-loss is affecting your life, right? I see nothing wrong with having a procedure done. You must understand that you will very likely need an additional surgery or two to keep pace with the progression of your hairloss as you age. You are on finasteride right? That should help your results tremendously and slow/halt your progression. However, I am slighty concerned with your choice to have the procedure done in the Dominican Republic. I understand you are paying much less but a hair transplant is not something you want to seek a bargain on. You get what you pay for. Also Health code and ethics in the DRup are questionable.
  21. In my opinion, nothing but genetics causes MPB. I know many people young and old who smoke like chimneys and have great heads of hair, i also know many people who dont smoke, exercise daily, and are balding. I agree certain factors may increase the progression, like stress, but its obvious pollution and smoking do NOT cause hair-loss.
  22. Both are terrific surgeons, but in my opinion based solely on patient photos, the best hairlines are from Rahal. I will say though it looks as if Rahal's patients suffer more irritation after surgery than Fellers. Just what it seems based on pictures. You can't go wrong with either one.
  23. depends what your expectations are. If you want a full head of hair, probably not gonna happen. However, you good probably achieve full coverage or close to. You got some hairs left up there so that will help. You probably wouldn't get much of a hairline, but enough to make a cosmetic difference. Look around at the photo albums on this website, see what people with your level of hair loss and age normally achieve.
