  1. Western....are you taking proscar or Rogaine now?...how has your hair loss been the last ten years?....if its stopped pretty much, then i would think youre safe...it might thin a little as you age, but i would think your hairline would stay the same...
  2. in my opinion, which never counts for much, it looks like you have great density in your donor area...and quite a bit of existing follicles in your upper region...scalp laxity would also be an issue, the looser the better obviously.. i would contact a number of the better surgeons on this site..but it seems you would be an excellent candidate based on your pictures...good luck!
  3. if youre subject to shockloss in the recipient area, you will get shockloss regardless of whether you do FUE or strip....shockloss has as much to do with your genetic makeup as it does the surgeon's skill... i dont know of any information on shockloss in the donor area for FUE, but im sure there will be someone out there that can comment on donor shockloss.. transection loss is another matter....transection loss could in some cases be higher with FUE than with strip, depending on the FUE practicioner...and it could be more in the recipient area as well....also, high density sessions could be subject to higher transection and shockloss risk just from the closeness of the new implant slits to existing hair...
  4. hairb...thats what im thinking as well...that the transplanted hair itself might be growing faster than it normally would, but still lagging behind the original hair until it matures....i think the MSM helps the growth rate of all the hair, but it cant do AS much on the transplanted hair in its infancy stage...
  5. Smoothy..I'm almost 7 months post op now..and while my original hair is growing like mad with this MSM, the grafted hair is lagging a bit..I'm sure that it will normalize along with the hair itself being less kinky and wispy as it matures over the firs 12-15 months....im still sprouting new grafts as well even this far out...amazing... i was just curious if anyone else had been experiencing a noticeable difference in growth rates between the grafted hair and their original hair,`while using MSM...
  6. propecia and proscar are the exact same thing...propecia is 1 mg of finasteride, while proscar is a 5 mg dose...proscar can be purchased and the pill split into quarters to save money...
  7. Anyone else experience different rates of growth in their existing hair vs their new grafted hair?...My original hair, now that I'm inhaling MSM like popcorn, is growing by leaps and bounds, along with my fingernails and toenails...but the grafted hair is growing at a slower rate...its pretty obvious one month after each haircut i get... Anyone else seeing this while using MSM, or not?

  9. anon.. one of the biggest reasons not to do strip for such a small amount of grafts is that you are carving up your donor area each time you have a strip surgery, and sacrificing "some" donor hair and some degree of laxity each time...why do that for such minimal amount of grafts?.,..if you do three small sessions of only 800 each, you may be finished as far as being able to have any more strip surgeries because of loss of scalp laxity...its not worth it in my opinion, nor is your hairloss bad enough to even warrant getting that small of an amount
  10. Anon... at 20, even with the stuff youre using to halt your hairloss progression, putting a few hundred hairs to lower your hairline could be risky...then, you will have this nice section of permanent hair, and then quite possibly, lose more hair as you age, directly behind it!...think how freakish and strange THAT will look... I'm not telling you not to go get what you want, but think about the possible consequences...having a patch of great hair in front of a balding area will look worse than naturally balding... i have been on proscar for 5 years or so..it did work initially in halting my hair loss, but its' effectiveness wore off , and i continued eventually to lose my hair..I'm not saying that Proscar will lose its' effectiveness on you, or anyone else, but it did happen to me..and i continue to take it today, after my HT...so there is no guarentee that your hairloss might not continue even using proscar and rogaine...
  11. Anon... while I certainly respect Dr. Feller's work, without a picture of your hair, and what you intend to do, its difficult to comment or challenge Dr. Feller's assessment.. any chance of you posting a picture of your hairloss, so that we might see what youre facing here?..800 grafts isnt a lot, but it could very well be appropriate..its difficult to say... also, how old are you?..and are you already on Rogaine and Finasteride for your hairloss?
  12. for 800 grafts, thats just less than $5 a graft..doesnt seem unreasonable for that small a session... you must not need a whole lot of work if its only 800 or so in the front..
  13. Everybody carries it..even Walmart...I get mine from the local Rite-Aid store..GNC brand in 1500 mg tablets...pretty reasonable price..
  14. Hugh...raise your game pal.. HW...i would post a picture, but it would only cause you to sob in envy..and i just wont do that to a fellow human being... besides, a picture wouldnt fit here..
  15. i know HW reimburses up to $400 for flight costs...and also picks up the hotel costs for two days... pretty sure most of the top places, to stay competitive, will offer similar compensation...but you have to check with each one..
  16. Actually Hugh, I'm not dismayed at all that your penis hasn't grown..
  17. jnel... MSM is a sulphur based supplement that helps cell regeneration in the body...it appears to "speed up" the regeneration process of those parts of your body that work that way... fingernails, skin, and hair are all affected by this.... you can get it pretty much anywhere..GNC, any health store or drugstore..even Walmart carries it...recommended dose is somewhere between 1000-5000 mg a day... you can check it out on the internet as well..lots of articles on it..and it seems to work the same in pretty much anyone who takes it
  18. notso.. hw is right..fingernails start growin crazy...i've been using it since January..and the speed of my hair growth is noticeable...instead of six weeks between haircuts, im needing it every 4 weeks now... another funny thing i noticed..not only is my skin better..less dry, etc...but since i love being in the sun, occasionally i get too much of it, and a couple days later the skin on my forehead or nose might dry out and flake off...but this summer, that hasnt happened once!...quite unusual....
  19. my donor and recipient area has no permanent nerve damage that I can tell..im not certain how big an area an individual nerve covers, but its not noticeable on my scalp... Certainly, there is a risk of some numbness being permanent, but its minimal at best, with a good surgeon...a less than stellar surgeon can certainly mess you up that way... my scalp, after six months, doesnt feel tight at all now...it sure did after the HT, but its subsided over time.. As far as the donor scar?..i had to point it out to my hair dresser, as she couldnt find it on her own..i guess thats a pretty good scar, wouldn't you say?....but as in most things, there are differing abilities and skills among surgeons practicing hair transplants...
  20. altair..its a pretty normal occurence...its merely the saline from injections most surgeons use to "inflate" the scalp a bit during surgery, to allow for more accurate placement of the grafts..the saline then has to drain somewhere... some people will absorb it before it gets to the forehead and upper face...some wont...it dissipates within a couple days usually...
  21. Ams....dont hold your breath on HM....EVEN if they could clone the follicle....how do you suppose theyre going to get it to grow in the right direction and angle??...they can't...the "seedlings" would be implanted, then grow whichever direction they pleased.. Also, when you plant these follicle clones, do you think that the seedlings are smart enough to know that you don't want double or triples at the front of your hairline?...pretty unlikely..
  22. how convenient for the doctor...makes it a bit tough to quote costs to a patient obviously, until they're all finished??..
  23. the BIGGEST warning sign..is if you ask to talk to any former patient you like..in person...and the doctor or his staff refuse... RUN away then... His advice is ridiculous..many of the best surgeons in the world charge by the graft or hair....what does he charge by, the hour???
  24. you work at Cambridge?...what a beautiful spot..i havent been there in ten years..used to go there on business quite a bit...stayed in a great little hotel right on the little creek that runs through the lower part of town...gorgeous area... how did your test on the generic stuff turn out?..im curious...did they test for heavy metals and active ingredient as well?
