  1. Biden may have used up his donor hair since he has been doing transplants since the 1970's. he along with another Senator, who I believe is now deceased, were early bad hair transplant victims. Based on what he looked like now he had the old plugs removed and saved what he could.
  2. No I don't but I have had several requests and will work on getting something posted.
  3. At 6.5 months my ht looks better wet than dry---totally natural.
  4. Jotronic: I am very impressed with your hair, as well as all the pictures I have seen of Hasson & Wong's work. Is there any kind of average graph count for your firm with regard to HT's on Norwood 5,6 or 7's? In other words, folks that need alot of work done.
  5. You have to "suffer" from baldness to want to get a transplant. After you lose you hair and have a family many guys could care less. When you are in your 20's and dating nothing is worse. There are guys with great hair that have all types of self-esteem problems unrelated to hair and so on. I think in Bernstein's case he does not have a strong donor area, plus he is most likely very comfortable with his hair. It ticks me off when guys on this forum make fun of Bernstein's baldness and then complain about others being mean about their loss of hair. HTs are available for those of us that have the money and for whatever reason feel compelled to get it done. From my personal experience Bernstein is very good, as it appears the other doctors noted on this site appear to be.
  6. I know two guys in their early 20's who started Propecia about 7 months ago. It has been great for them and I don't think they have had any side effects. I am not a fan of Rogaine but I have seen enough on this web site and others to know that Propcecia works for guys that still have their hair. I would get on that for a year and see what happens. Also, as someone who was butchered and lost more hair than I gained from my first HT in my 20's, I would run from Bosley. Good luck.
  7. I see alot of success stories on this forum about the mega-mega sessions. There has to be some patients who had a super-mega and did not get the results they had hoped for. There has to be a few. From what I have read there are some downsides to very large procedures. In my case I did 2,400 and some repairs and I don't think my scalp could have handled, let's say a session of 4,400. I will go back in about 6 months for a second session. That will be a year to allow my head to recover fully. Also, as has been noted by Pat previously, it would be helful if we noted hair count along with graft count.
  8. The same wrinkles appear at any age on anyone who raises their eyebrows in that manner. It has noting to do with aging. Go to the mirror, raise your eyebrows and see for yourself.
  9. MIKIEB: My impression is positive. I would suggest you read the blog on his web site bersteinmedical.com. I had repairs and a procedure done 6 months ago. I expect to know more about the HT in about 3 to 6 months but the repairs were excellent. The HT looks natural but the hair texture and thickness is not there yet.
  10. dadeus: I think you misunderstood the focus of everyone's comments. Your post reminded me (and apparently some others) of a 3:00AM infomercial. I wish you the best of luck with the results of your procedure. From what I have seen on this site, posters are extremely considerate of most peoples' opinions.
  11. Mr.joe: Right now it is easier for me to just send some pics directly to you. I have to study to figure out how to post pictures which I will do eventually. Just send me a private message with your email address and I will shoot some pictures off to you. I have not kept great pictures of the progress as some have done. Also, I have not asked family members to take pictures so they were all taken by me but I think it will give you a sense of where I was and where I am at 6 months.
  12. Mrjb: I just passed the 6 month mark on 2,400 grafts. I have continually been cutting my hair short because the hair is not really groomable. I am now letting my hair grow and recently when going out to run I decided to leave the hat and just put sunscreen lotion on my head. Well that effect gave me a good impression of where I am heading with the hair under control. With the hair shaft made thicker from the lotion and laying down you can really appreciate the coverage you may gain. It is sort of the reverse of the way things used to be. When I was losing my hair, if my hair was wet or oily it looked thin. Now when I get out of the shower with my hair wet it lays down and covers my head. Same with the suntan lotion--it makes my hair lay down and provides more coverage. I think I am one of the folks that will not know where the HT will be until a full 12 months. Some of the pictures on this site, at even 4 months blow me away. Those lucky folks must must have a great blood supply to their heads and great recovery genes.
  13. Money is one thing but you throw in the double whammy of money and fame and forget it. Several year ago a friend introduced me to an attractive woman. She misunderstood the introduction and assumed I was in a big movie at the time. I was wondering why she was fawning over me and when she realized her mistake her attitude changed dramatically. I am sure there are more than enough woman happy to be seen with Larry.
  14. Trojan: My educated guess will be that you will be very happy 8 months from now. You hair will not have reached its full potential by then, but it should look very good at that point. As I noted previously, I had repairs and 2,400 grafts done by Bernstein 6 months ago. My scar is not visble and it looks like all my grafts are growing. My only regret is the time it takes to get the full impact of the neqw hair. On the other hand, the way this has taken place no one suspects I had anything done. I am planning to go back in January and get a second procedure done. If I was your age and had the resources I would defintely get it done. After you get it done, it is done. And the way my hair looks now, this precedure stands on its own. It will not look like I got half a transplant even if I never get another procedure. In my case since I had lost so much hair years ago, I did not "suffer" from hair loss the way a lot of newly bald guys do. I went through that years ago. I thought I was being vain and felt stupid about it and changed my mind several times thinking with everything going on in the world here I am worrying about my hair. In the end though I thought, wait I'vee got the money and I take care of myself and it would be great to have hair-so I did it and like most guys that have gotten the procedure done by a top doctor, they are happy. Good luck with your decision.
  15. Mr. Joe: I had some repair work done and about 2,400 graft with Bernstein and I am very pleased. I am at 6 months but everything looks very natural. I am a slow grower and expect that in another 3 months I can give you a better sense of the finnished product. I know folks on this forum think Bernstein is not aggessive enough but if you read the blog on his web site he gives good answers to his approach to the process. The doctors recommended on this site all appear to be very good. New York was conveinent for me plus Bernstien was rated the best ht doc in NY 7 years straight by NY magazine. I know some of these surveys are stacked at times but I felt comfortable with Bernstein and met with him 3 times at no cost before the surgery. There are no consultants or assistants that meet with you. My repair work is incredble by the way. I was watching a video of a speech I gave 20 years ago this weekend. Your coments about the way you are balding hit home. In looking at the video I realized that the balding did not look all that natural. In fact my new growth looks much more natural than my natural balding pattern, if that is possible. Staff and Bernstein were very professional. Having said all the above, there are many excellent doctors, talk to several and take a look at their work and make a decision that works for you. Bernstein reminded me of a person you just goes about doing this in a very workman-like fashion with out a lot of fanfare. Basically, that is how I tried to handle this. Surgery is a big deal but in the hands of a top HT doc, it really is not. All do great scars, as best I can tell. Good luck to you.
  16. I saw Larry in DC at a hotel I was staying at with a great looking woman about 5 years ago. At that point, his hair looked fine in person.
  17. Cal: I went back to work on the 11th days after repairs and 2,400 Ht's. I have to admit that I was very concerned because when I looked in the mirror all I saw was a bright red head---but no one noticed. It was a bizarre experience. The one friend I had confided in said it just looked like I had a bit of a burn from the sun on my head. The real test that made me calm down was a friend who always says what he sees and thinks. He was the second person to see me on the morning of my return and he looked at me and said--ah you got a short haircut during your time off.
  18. I don't think hair loss bothers most people after they have lost their hair, have partners, a good career, etc. The terrible part of losing hair is when you just start to lose it. This usually starts happenning when someone is in their early 20's. In my case, I always had alot of girls that liked me and several used to love to run their fingers through my hair. I know that sounds like I am a sick egotist but it was always done very light-heartedly like "Bill, you have such beautiful black hair. Now as those of us have gotten older have learned, there are more important things going on in the world and in most of lives now, but that is not the case early on. You are embarrassed when people mention it at a young age and you are embarrassed when people you know who are nice don't mention it, but feel sorry for you. I am at 6 months and one week post HT and finally I am starting to see some real growth. It is truly a kick in the ass to see this happening---not because I am so worried about my hair now--it is great to be able to control another part of my life. It would always seem unfair when I would stay in shape, not smoke and I would run in to a guy who drank alot, smoked and didn't excercise and still looked 10 years younger than me because he still had his hair. I can't wait to get my second procedure done in January, 07
  19. dadeus: No disrespect intended but if you had any familialrity with this site you could see just about every post mentions a doctor's name. Why you had the impression this was not allowed is beyond me. Your procedure seems like textbook protocal for most folks experiences on this site with the better docs. I don't know whether your post is legitimate or not---the problem was in the presentation of the facts. No one wants to see you or anyone butchered--I hope you have a great result--if in fact you had a procedure. Participants on this site have a low tolerace for games. One bizarre reference you made was to the doctor picking you up in a limousine. Is he charging $10.00 a graft? I would find it very strange for a doctor to drive to an airport to pick me up, especially in a limousine.
  20. What the hell is the doctor doing driving you to and from the airport in a limo no less. This sounds like pure B.S. and if its not it should be. What is the secret? There are good doctors that use the latest technology in HT and do a wonderful job---is there something new this doctor is doing? If there is, he should share it with fellow doctors with the proper evidence. Just point us to his web site-why the secrecy? This forum is focused on bringing things out into the light of day---not playing a Sherlock Holmes game. If you are truly suffering from baldness, you should be aware that many readers have been suckered by come-ons like this and this type of "ploy" has no place on this forum.
  21. Youngguy24, the treatments for hair loss are going to get seriously better. Your goal should be to try to keep as much of your hair as possible until other treatments are developed. I would take propecia and read as much as possible about any potential side effects-which may change over time although this drug as been arouns as proscar for alot of years prior to being approved for hair loss. However, based on the literature I have read, the only harm would be if the mother was handling broken pills which no woman who is considering having a baby should do. Right now I would not worry about things that may happen in the future. From your email you indicate you have not even met the woman you may have children with yet. In my opinion I would focus on real concerns you are presently facing and not create other things to worry about.
  22. I would recommend Robert Bernstein. He did a HT on me 6 months ago and I have a minimal scar. In fact all I see is a tint of redness but no scar. He has been New York Magazine's best HT doctor for 7 years.
  23. I would suggest you find a new doctor. If he is that misinformed about Propecia was else is he missing in the literature.
  24. I had 2400 grafts done with Bernstein. He did some repair work on me but did not charge me for the repair since it was all done at one session. He removed grafts that have to worse than yours since mine were done in the mid- 70's. At six months there is no indication the grafts were ever there. Your repair work would be more extensive and would probably require several sessions, but I am only guessing. Although, you don't have the money now, I would do some internet consulations with top repair doctors and get their opinions. I know Berstein does not charge for consultations and is considered very good at repairs. He is also very prompt at reponding to emails. I would email him your story and ask if you could sent pictures and what is the best way to accomplish it. I have found that taking action to address your fears or to correct an untenble situation is the first step to getting it resolved. Good luck.
  25. I was 6 months yesterday and I have some growth but it is nothing like I have seen on this site. I think what throws everyone off is that there are pictures on here at 6 months that are incredible. My hair looks natural its just that it is very thin and I can not control it. Consequently, I have continued cutting it short until the texture is more like my other hair. I know from my research it can take a year sometimes for the stuff that makes hair look like and act like hair to recover.
