Bill - Seemiller
Mrkneed, I am currently using Revita shampoo. MrJB on our discussion forum is using it as well - he's been using it longer than I have. Generally speaking, I like the shampoo - though nothing miraculous is happening at this point (1.5 months) but then again, I'm not really expecting it to. There are a number of ingredients in Revita that are "said" to help fight hair loss but the only one I'm putting any stock in is ingredient ketoconazole also found in Nizoral. There is some science that suggest it can be as effective as 2% minixodil however, though many people swear who swear by it's use are also using Propecia and/or minoxodil. So does it really work to regrow miniaturized hairs? I'm not really sure. But I thought I would give it a shot! Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member mrkneed Posted September 21, 2007 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 Thanks Bill. I too am now using it ( 3days) along with Nizoral 2 % (and propecia + rogaine). Senior Member irish homer Posted September 21, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 I have been using it for about 3 months now. I don't expect it to regrow hair and use it as part of my regime, it does seem to do a good job cleaning and i really like the way it makes my hair look and feel after use, I will keep using it just in case it is working. Senior Member MrJobi Posted September 21, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 Hi all Bill is right , I started using it about 3 months or so and it is a great shampoo. It has a lot of good ingredients which are said to assist in hairloss. Hard to be objective on it's results with me because I was 3 months post op when I started it .. I do like it though JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations. Senior Member MrJobi Posted September 23, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 23, 2007 Nizoral is really good for dandruff and have the K ingredient which has some anti DHT properties.. Revita is a new hairloss shampoo which has many good things in it to assist in hairloss. It won't grow hair but it certainly is a great shampoo JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations. Regular Member sandip Posted September 23, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2007 Hi Mrjb, Wat do u suggest. should i use Nizoral or Revita. I don know if they are availble in India. I think Nizoral is availble. Can I use it without consulting a doc..Would it have any side effects like more hair loss.
Senior Member MrJobi Posted September 23, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted September 23, 2007 Nizoral is over the counter ( they also have a prescription too).. I would suggest rotating the 2 together.. It should not cause any additional hairloss. If you do, it may be shedding which then migth be good because it is a sign on new growth.. I doubt it though.. You should be ok JOBI 1417 FUT - Dr. True 1476 FUT - Dr. True 2124 FUT - Dr. True 604 FUE - Dr. True My views are based on my personal experiences, research and objective observations. Bill - Seemiller
In all honesty, I wouldn't count on Revita or Nizoral as a stand alone treatment for hair loss. I'm not stating that it won't do anything - but I have found that treatments are best when combined. "The Big 3" is referred to as Propecia, Rogaine, Nizoral (or Revita - they both contain ketoconazole) and have the best chance of combatting hair loss when used altogether. At the same time though - I plan on giving Revita at least 6 months (maybe a year) before determining whether or not it is doing anything for me. Of course, I'm not a great test subject having had 3 HTs and virtually no native hair left on top of my head. Even if there were some miniaturized hairs that could have been revived, many of them were most likely transected with transplanted hairs (since they were so far gone, they wouldn't have been seen during surgery).
