  1. Interesting, Hurley. Thanks for posting that. I do know that Omega 3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory effects- so you never know...
  2. Anybody have any thoughts on Nanoguard A shampoo?? http://www.antiaging-systems.com/a2z/nanoguard_a.htm
  3. OK- TMZ just showed the "turkey baster" story. But it was just that balding celebs are using stuff like Toppik- and they are applying it with a spray device. They called out Segal, Travolta, and Cage.
  4. I just saw this on a TMZ commercial: "Celebs hiding disappearing hairlines with this bizzare turkey baster technique". Turkey baster technique?? I guess we'll have to watch to find out...
  5. Really? Damn. My multi has "d-Alpha Tocopheryl Succinate/Acetate" in it. You think that could be a problem? I take a lot of supplements (fish oil, BCAAs, Polyphenols, protein powders, fat burner, greens...) so it's hard to tell what does what. I'm just hoping to see some new hair growth in about 4 more months! Thanks for the reply and thanks for letting us know about Toco. At the very least it looks like a pretty powerful anti-oxidant. So don't sweat the haters.
  6. I've been using this (2X a day) for about a month now and I "think" that my hairloss has increased a little- but I know that that's probably a good sign and I'm gonna keep taking it.
  7. Costco has a 4-pack of foam for 49.99 (I think-- it may have been even less than that).
  8. I use the foam. But the instructions say "apply half a capful 2 times a day". The cap is very small. Do you guys really only use half a capful?
  9. Remember- there once was a time when we didn't know about Minoxidil; and there once was a time when we didn't know about finasteride. I just blew your mind!
  10. This article that I found by David Orentreich, MD at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine says that "hair loss can often be stopped on a long-term basis by mixing minoxidil with finasteride and thyroid hormone or another drug that stimulates hair metabolism... rub this three-drug 'cocktail' into his/her scalp every day". Any thoughts on this from the experts here??
  11. Another Apple Polyphenol article that I found: The first clinical trial of topical application of procyanidin B-2 to investigate its potential as a hair growing agent Tomoya Takahashi 1 *, Ayako Kamimura 1, Yoshiharu Yokoo 1, Shinkichi Honda 2, Yasushi Watanabe 3 1Tsukuba Research Laboratories, Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., 2, Miyukigaoka, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-0841, Japan 2Development Department, Biochemicals Division, Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., 1-6-1, Ohtemachi, Chiyoda, Tokyo 100-8185, Japan 3Watanabe Dermatological Clinic, 1-32-16, Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo 160-0022, Japan email: Tomoya Takahashi (tomoya.takahashi@kyowa.co.jp) *Correspondence to Tomoya Takahashi, Tsukuba Research Laboratories, Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., 2, Miyukigaoka, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-0841, Japan. Keywords androgenetic alopecia; condensed tannin; external application; Malus pumila; proanthocyanidins; scalp Abstract Procyanidin B-2 is a compound we have identified in apple which acts as a growth-promoting factor on murine hair epithelial cells. This report describes our investigation of the hair-growing effects of 1% procyanidin B-2 tonic after sequential use for 4 months. A double-blind clinical trial was performed, involving a total of 29 subjects (procyanidin B-2, 19 men; placebo, 10 men). No adverse side effects were observed in either group. In the procyanidin B-2 group, 78.9% showed an increased mean value of hair diameter, whereas only 30.0% in the placebo group showed any increase (p < 0.02, Fisher's exact probability test). The increased ratio of hairs measuring more than 40 m in diameter after 4 months of procyanidin B-2 treatment was significantly higher than that of the placebo controls (p < 0.05, two-sample?‚?t-test). The increase in number of total hairs in the designated scalp area (0.25 cm2) of procyanidin B-2 subjects after a 4 month trial was significantly greater than that of the placebo controls (procyanidin?‚?B-2, 3.67 ?± 4.09 (mean ?± SD)/0.25 cm2; placebo, -2.54 ?± 4.00/0.25 cm2; p < 0.001, two-sample t-test). Procyanidin B-2 therapy shows potential as a promising cure for male pattern baldness. Copyright ?© 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Received: 27 May 1999; Accepted: 20 June 2000
  12. I don't know anything about hair transplants- but I tried ScalpMed (didn't work for me). It was very strong/harsh/not sure of the right word on my scalp. I wouldn't even consider using it with hair transplants.
  13. These look legit- but who knows? I don't trust anything online these days. http://www.applepolyphenols.com/studies/hairgrowth.htm#...J%20Dermatol.%202002
  14. I was just looking thru my Revita Shampoo booklet and I noticed the section on Apple Polyphenol. So I looked it up in Yahoo and I saw an ad for some apple topical product. BUT it showed a very interesting 12-month before and after pic supposedly from "Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 4, 245-249". Is that "Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology" reference legit??
  15. I've been using the Laser Comb off and on (mostly on) for about two years. I can't say that I've noticed any re-growth; and I don't think that it's stopped hair from falling out. But the hair that I do have looks great- and I'm going to keep using it. Hell- I paid like $650 for the damn thing.
  16. ProTHIK can rub off a little. Is that also a concern with Dermatch?
  17. I am using Minoxidil foam. That was just a theoretical question; Revita has a bunch of interesting things in it.
  18. What do you guys think about rubbing a little Revita shampoo into your worst area(s) and letting it stay there and soak into your scalp overnight??
  19. Get some ProTHIK. I think that is your answer. It is for me, at least.
  20. Jeremy Piven's hair looks pretty good these days- but a few years back he was definitely showing BIG time signs of thinning. I wonder what he did??
  21. I've been using it for about 2 months- 5-6 days per week. I haven't noticed anything yet, but I'm not giving up!
  22. Am I the only person here who thinks that ProTHIK is the best concealer out there? It's definitely the easiest to use. And I think it looks better than Toppik. But after reading all of the DermMatch props on this board, I'm going to pull it out of my closet and give it another try.
