I've decided to post some pictures of my first day of transplant with Dr. Keene. I know from personal experience if it were not this website I probably would never gone through such a procedure. I hope that by sharing my photos I can return the favor to others contemplating HT surgery.

My first day with Doctor keene exceed all my expectations. I personaly felt almost zero discomfort and believe her finished result show exceptionally minmal trauma. I'd like for you veterans to take a look and tell me if you agree. I had approxiamately 1600 grafts placed to the hairline and temporal region

hairdini,

Unless I can't spell either OR you fixed your typose, I really don't see a lot of them...only a few icon_wink.gif

I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with Dr. Keene. From what i've seen around the forums, she does quality work. Though the work doesn't look too densely packed, I think that it will blend nicely with your native hair. Looking at your before pictures, it's obvious that your temples and hair behind your hairline isn't that thick to begin with...so I think densely packing the area any tighter than she did would have been a mistake. It does go to show that though dense packing is appropriate many times, it's not always appropriate. I look forward to seeing how this resul turns out...so I hope you'll keep us updated with your progress icon_wink.gif.

I'm now on day four and feel very fortunate I've had not had a single problem. It almost seems to me like the hair has already started to grow quite a bit in the first four days. Maybe it just my imagination. I also found that one darvocet and one lunesta before bed will make you sleep like a baby. I've never been able to sleep on my back and thought this would have been my greatest challenge. I'll keep the photos coming!!

I like that Dr. Keene went with a lower density. Transplanting into areas of diffuse thining can accelerate hair loss. By choosing a lower density, it allows you to hold onto the hair you have a little longer. The addition of Propecia can help stabilize your loss as well. If you need more density later, you can always go for a second pass.

Looks like nice work so far. icon_smile.gif

hairdini,

Two things I can think of:

1. You are trying to modify somebody else's post (which doesn't seem logical). Just double check icon_wink.gif

2. Pat moved your thread or was the last to modify it. It seems that if that happens, permissions are removed from the user to be able to edit that post. This is speculation, but this happened to me recently too. I just posted a reply to my own thread.

Try PMing Pat or start a new thread icon_wink.gif

I'm at the 9 month mark now. I think I'll probably have to go in for a 2nd HT in a year or so to touch up a few spots that seem a bit thin still, The right side of my head is perfect but the left is a bit thinner than I would like. Fortunately by hair is naturally wavy so it's hard to tell if you're not looking for it. I'd also like to make the very start of my hairline a tad bit thicker. All-in-all i figure another 1200 graphs should do me good. I figure I'll wait a year more though just in case I get some more growth. Overall I'm 100 percent satisfied with my first HT. I knew from the beginning my chances were somewhat good of needing a small 2nd HT.

Hairdini your approach is somewhat like mine and believe you me ( I hate when people say that) I am extremely happy with my approach and result.

Good luck, you still have a couple months of maturing

hairdini,

I think you have quality work but density is less (65%), when we see results of other people and possibilities of densely packing then one should go for this option for such a small area.I think you have adequate donor area and priority should be given for one session and dense packing.

Pakistan,

I agree with your opinion. I initially thought when my doctor told me the density per square inch (I forgot what that was now) that it seemed a bit low. I never said anything though figuring she knew a lot better than me what would be best. I figured she was probably taking the future into perspective in regards to future loss and donor supply. I don't mind her taking the conservative approach because I believe it looks out for my best interest long term. However, now that I'm seeing how good my hair looks I feel the onset of hair greed kicking in. What I have now is definitely nothing to complain about - but I know with a little more my head would be picture perfect. So I need to reassess whether I should add more, and risk not having enough hair graphs for when I get older should hair loss progress. My family genetics tell me I will never be a norwood 5, but I have learned from this site that is not a guarantee.

Hairdini,

From what I can see with the pics the plan is perfect. Don't second guess things. I would wait a few years and go from there. Things look awesome.

Here's 1 year pics. What a change from 1 year ago. Absolutely zero regrets . Best 6 grand I ever spent. I'm done posting pics now that I've hit a year. I will probably get HT # 2 sometime in the fall.
