Regular Member ghostdog Posted May 5 Regular Member Share Posted May 5 Looking for some thoughts: I had a transplant in 1993 at age 25. yes it was too young and foolish to do. it was what was called mini-grafts at a long defunct clinic in nyc. the work was ok… bad by today’s standards but not a mess. through rogain and propecia and then duteresride I managed to keep up the fight for a long time. but now I’m 55, native hair has thinned around the minigrafts and I need to add enough density to look natural. My constraints are to be US based only. i would prefer FUE. it seems this web site is very heavily slanted to mostly overseas doctors. i am looking for an fue in the us for about 2000 grafts to give me enough density to look normal but thinning. i had a consultation with Bernstein before he retired and he pushed fut too hard. i really want fue and my donor is fine to support that I spoke with rahal and hasson and they both seem good but i leaving the USA not a real option. Konior is awesome but I can’t go 30k for a procedure… 15 to 20 k is my limit. Long post but looking for USA based fue for 15 to 20k that has better then fair chance to succeed for around 2000 ish grafts based on input from rahal Bernstein and H&w. your input with these constraints is greatly appreciated. Senior Member FinallyHT Posted May 6 Senior Member Share Posted May 6 You should meet with a doctor in person first. And pick the doctor you feel the most comfortable with, whom you have done due diligence on, and can show you photos of patients similar to your case. Never, never, never pick a doctor based on price, location or convenience. Some of the best doctors are outside the USA. Age: 40 Hairloss began at age 23. Oral Finasteride 1mg daily since 2006, Topical Minoxidil since 2012. Hair transplant 3,400 grafts 2019. Second hair transplant 2,400 grafts in 2023. Moderators Al - Moderator Posted May 6 Moderators Share Posted May 6 Is there a reason you don't want to do FUT? You already have an FUT scar. If you did another FUT they would extract additional grafts along the same scar line assuming the FUT strip was taken in a proper location the first time. You would end up with only one scar in the same location. I will also assume you are in the NY area since your HT was done in 1995. Traveling far for a HT wasn't really a thing then. Besides Dr Bloxham there is Dr Carlos Wesley on 70th street in Manhattan or Dr Robert Dorin in Garden City NY. Moderators Al - Moderator Posted May 6 Moderators Share Posted May 6 What would be great is if you could post a picture from the mid to late 90s after the HT and a picture now, so we can compare how well (or not) the hair transplant held up. The long term results are something a lot of people are interested in seeing. 1 Al Forum Moderator (formerly BeHappy) I am a forum moderator for hairrestorationnetwork.com. Regular Member ghostdog Posted May 7 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 7 I will go dig up some 1990s photos and some recent to show how it’s held up. the work was ok for that era … but needs a lot more density now. to Melvin… the number of USA based doctors recommended here is limited that’s why the post. i have met with a few but some are so crazy expensive it’s not realistic. i have a budget of up to 20k and that’s a stretch. thanks again ill try to post the roaring 1990s photos tomorrow

Can I ask why you're limited to staying in the US for surgery?
