Dobranich
Hi all, Hoping some of you could provide me some good advice! I’ve had many consults with doctors and I have picked my top 3: Nader (Mexico) Laorwong, and Patty (both in Thailand). Nader: have an appointment scheduled next month. He suggested 2000-2500 grafts for my frontal area and conservative but aesthetic hairline. He does not want to touch my thinning crown yet as he believes I have limited donor area. 40FU/cm2 density. Cost: $7543-8750usd Laorwong: have an appointment scheduled in early October. He suggested 1500-1600 grafts for my hairline without lowering it. He wanted to add 1500 grafts to my crown but I declined as I believe I should hold off on that region for now. 50FU/cm2 density. Cost (partially shaved FUE): $3936usd Patty: no appointment scheduled. She suggested 2000-2500 grafts for frontal area and conservative area. Does not suggest crown area right now due to limited donor. 45FU/cm2 density. Cost: $2710usd I live in the US so travelling wise it is easier for me to go to Dr. Nader. $10k has always been my budget on my first hair transplant so that’s not an issue for me. However, I am concerned about density. As you can see in my pictures, my side donor area isn’t great and I am starting to have a small thinning dip at the back of my crown. I have been on oral finasteride for 2.5 years (has slowed down my hair loss, but still shed). Have also been on oral minoxidil for 9 months (no results, keep shedding on scalp, more body hair). All 3 doctors can perform partially shaved FUE and that is what I’m looking for due to my career. Three questions: 1. What doctor and what density should I go for in my frontal area? I am concerned that I will not like the result of Nader’s density. I’m also concerned that Laorwong’s estimate of 1500 grafts is too little. 2. Is there a difference between 1500 grafts at 50FU/cm2 vs 2000-2500 grafts at 40FU/cm2? 3. Will a partially shaved FUE bring me the same results as full shave? All doctors have said yes. *not looking to lower hairline, just want density and conservative look to be able to shape face/style hair*

Regular Member rs525 Posted April 12 Regular Member Share Posted April 12 You're lucky to hear back from Dr. Nader. I'm still waiting for a response from them as they're probably my top choice for convenience but the price they quoted you unfortunately has me worried as it seems the price has gone up significantly, plus the fact they are inundated with consultations and surgeries so who knows what will happen. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted April 12 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 12 Personally I wouldn't get too caught up on the figures. The higher the number grafts and the lower the density then more area can be covered. But in reality where the grafts are placed dictates everything. With an elite surgeon art comes into it and their own artistic mix will determine the results with donor capacity, etc. Make sure you see lots of previous patient results. I would be guided by the work you like and how you feel about which surgeon you feel has your best interests from communication with him/her. Personally I like Laorwong. Wishing you all the best!
