Regular Member Hysteria Posted February 15 Regular Member Share Posted February 15 (edited) Hello, 31 year old. Been on finasteride for a year. Minoxidil for 10 years. Norwood 4/5 more like 5 After a couple of years of research on this forum and youtube, I decided on Dr Turan at FUE Capilar. 4163 grafts - frontal and mid-scalp. Planned second operation in a year from now. I am currently on day 13 post op. Will be posting updates. Would like to hear back from you all as to how you think the work is progressing - and as to how many further grafts might be necessitated in a years time for the crown/mid-scalp, or even in the frontal area where native hairs may yet fall out. I have a large head and a healthy medium coarseness donor area and will post the write up when the Doctor has completed the PDF. I have a cowlick on the front right side of my head. Communicated through WhatsApp. Was pretty straightforward. I arrived at Istanbul airport and my driver was very friendly and put me in the fancy Van with wifi. He spoke some English. About 45 mins drive to the hotel. The hotel is 2 or 5 mins to the hospital. The hotel is quiet. For some reason I had poor food quality at the hotel (bland, stale or flavourless) but amazing food quality at Dr. Turan’s office. The translator Ahmet (spelling could be incorrect) is very friendly and helpful. Answered all my questions. During operation he wasn’t around but if you ask for him he would pop in from the other room. Similar to what other posters have said. They show you a microscope video of your hairs which is pretty cool. They measure your face structure with this tool and then draw the proposed hair line. I agreed the first time. I could have asked for it drawn lower 1cm or .5cm I suppose but I thought I should go for density and if i have enough donor area in the future, perhaps that would substantiate a lower line. The translator at one point told me Dr Turan lowered the hairline on day 2 after I expressed my inquiry (I’m guessing a millimeter or two) after the initial implantation on the first day. (I was not adamant, was happy either way, but the Doctor seemed happy to oblige) By lowering it, he added multi grafts and then single grafts in the front. So the hairline implantation specifically = single, Multiple, then single again from back to front. At least - That’s my understanding from the translator. Is this typical? Surgery took two days. Day 1 morning = roughly 1000 grafts, afternoon = 1000 grafts and this repeated in day 2. Dr Turan has a specialist that seems to make the incisions and a separate specialist for the extraction. Dr Turan does all of the implanting to the recipient area. I was told he does 2 surgeries per day. The most painful part was the needles but it seemed fine after you have the Xanax. Basically slept during the operation both days. How do the temples area look to you? How does everything else look? I’m excited to see how part one op turns out in 6 to 12 months. I feel confident in Dr Turan thus far especially considering a few other results on this site. Photos reduced in pixel after uploading to the site but I hope these angles in various natural light/harsh light help. Senior Member Myles23 Posted February 16 Senior Member Share Posted February 16 The work looks really clean, the donor is healing nicely and I like the hairline design. Glad to see a higher Norwood case from Dr Turan. Will be following your journey and hope you get good growth.
Senior Member Hairwolf Posted February 16 Senior Member Share Posted February 16 Looks good- also like the hairline design and nice balance of grafts spread over 2 days, so should provide a good cosmetic improvement and leaving a smaller 2nd op for improved density. Donor looks thick also. Happy growing

So 500 euros more now. Edited March 1 by BaldGuy
Regular Member Hysteria Posted April 4 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 4 Overall happy to read about my donor amount and am currently going through the ugly duckling phase just over 2 months post op. Let me know if you want photos for this phase. Trying to understand cm2 - what does this 145cm squared mean and is it a normal or typical number? For some reason I thought it seemed high compared to others; but perhaps I am misunderstanding? thanks
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted April 4 Valued Contributor Share Posted April 4 The area of the frontal scalp plus the mid scalp is 145cm squared in surface. Don't worry about getting hung up about having 30/40/50/60 cm per square cm etc. It's the art of illusion that matters most. I've found that the two month period is the lowest point of the ugly duckling phase (now more than ever. lol). Wishing you all the best @Hysteria and happy growing! 👍 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Regular Member Miller1980 Posted April 4 Regular Member Share Posted April 4 happy growing...the 145cm^2 area is the recipient area that dr Turan implanted the grafts. Obviously the density is not the same in all of this area, but it is higher in the front and lower in the back.

I thought Dr. Turan does the incision and implanting himself in one step via the Choi pen.
Regular Member Hysteria Posted April 21 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 21 The incisions I’m referring to are in the donor area. Then another specialist extracts from that area. yes dr Turan does the entire recipient area himself.
