Clinicana - Is this normal?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, have recently got back from Turkey. I think I have stuffed up here. I feel like my donor area has been grossly over harvested.

20230513_080401.thumb.jpg.88f3e9b7d9adf80b994e125f05d721a3.jpg20230513_080410.thumb.jpg.e9097646dfeed1826dc82bf8d5063925.jpg20230513_080439.thumb.jpg.8013f9f6bcfce6a2e7a692998ebf739f.jpg

I had two back surgeries over two days. My first surgery was apparently 2600 grafts to my scalp.

My second surgery was apparently 1600 grafts to thicken up my beard.

The beard grafts were harvested from this area.

I feel like my donor area was over harvested particularly on the section above.

I don't feel like I had that much work done and should be missing this much donor hair??

Wanting other people's advice/opinions.

I am 18 days post surgery and my donor area looks extremely patchy. I'm not sure it will improve.

Admittedly my hair does grow slowly. I am very worried that I have been over harvested with not alot of work to show for it.

Any input appreciated.

Kind regards

I would like to add I'm from Australia and tried to find the best hair transplant clinic I could find. I had local consults with surgeons in Australia to try and learn more. I googled best place for a hair transplant and Turkey came up. I then googled best clinics in Turkey and found a list of about 10 or so. I went through and googled the companies to try and find out anything I could and clinicana came out on top.

My dog died in a bad way at the end of the year and I was not thinking straight nor felt myself. I decided a hair transplant might be what I need to pull myself up by my bootstraps.

Clinicana was by far the most expensive and I assumed you get what you pay for. 2500 euro for scalp (and hotel package) 1800 euro for beard and 765 euro for after care products. So 5065 euros. I feel so stupid, even the after care products I was sold was a type of vitamin and hair serum spray, not sure if it's legit.

Definitely feeling dumb and wish I knew about this site before I went on with the surgery.

Feeling very anxious but would really like some answers.

Regards.

I am sorry but this does not look professional at all. You got overharvested.

A shock loss does not look like this. Just look at the top doctor work, none look like this.

Why did you went to Turkey ? They don't have a reputation for having the best clinic. Maybe the cheapest yes...

Now you need to find a good surgeon to do a repair job.

I went with Turkey because that is what I read online was the best. I did not know about this site.

Can this be repaired? I am trying to look into BHT but obviously I won't be able to have surgery for quite some time.

I am very concerned 😟

You’re right to be concerned, this does indeed look like over harvesting. They have not extracted in a homogeneous way and it could also be a touch of shock loss. The shock loss will of course Improve, unfortunately any over harvesting will not. It’s going to become more evident at a later date on exactly how this will end up looking.
You may have made a poor choice when choosing a clinic but a lot of us have also made the same error. Going forward you’re going to have to see how it grows in and then make a decision on what to do next.
Dr Laorwong in Thailand is someone that may be a good choice for you’re inevitable next procedure, you’re definitely going to need another which will most likely be classed as a repair.
Next time you will be a lot more prepared, unfortunately despite the heavy marketing Turkey is far from doing the best work, in reality it has less than 10 clinics/Drs that can be relied upon, Clinicana isn’t one of those 😞

The doctor was trying to tell me I would be fine with just a fade/skin fade. :(

I feel so let down, stupid and am embarrassed.

I typed in google - 'what can you do if your hair transplant goes wrong in turkey'

Apparently, according to the site below

Removed link

You are able to get reimbursed for malpractice.

Not sure if there is any truth to this or it is another scam.

Be careful with these type of websites, they just want you’re cash. By all means converse with the clinic yourself and ask for a refund, partial or otherwise and state you’re reasons why. But they will definitely say give it the full 12 months before passing judgement  (standard reply) right now it’s too early. See how it grows out and see how the donor area develops.

Even though personally I can see issues with the work that’s been done, it’s going to take some months to see what needs addressing.

Thankyou for the closure brita. I have been messaging my translator from clinicana and she is trying to tell me it's fine...

From what I gather it is possible to fix though?

Does Dr Laorwong in Thailand specialise in BHT?

Do you think BHT is probably the best course of action? I have reasonably hairy chest.

Sorry for asking you all the questions. My mental health is not doing very well after this whole experience.

Regards

Definitely possible to get repaired, you’re still going to have hair available from the donor area. Plenty of Drs do really good repairs, research here on the forum and you will see who’s considered to do good work.

A second ht might give a more homogeneous pattern to the donor area, and would also improve enhance the hairline if needed.

At this point, try not to stress too much. There’s a chance it will improve. Watch this video. You have nothing to show for it because it hasn’t grown yet. It will look worse before it looks better. Give it at least 6 months, but definitely communicate with the clinic to find out about the options should you be disappointed.

OP, the first thing you need to do is calm down.

What’s done is done. You cannot change it. All worrying about it is going to do is stress you out, and that’s ironically not good for your hair growth!

You have no idea how this’ll turn out. Wait at least 6 months and see. You might really like the result. If you don’t, it can always be fixed. But now you just need to accept it and wait.

Even turkey have good doctors but jst searching on Google wasn't a wise thing to do...but wht done is done..even hair mills and bad clinics produced many good results and i wish you be one of them...Right now you don't have any option other than waiting ...there are many cases where there is unbelievable change in donor in few months...searching for a repair or another ht and asking for a refund is not needed at this moment imho....just follow the aftercare process properly ...start using medication (oral finasteride and oral minoxidil ) after consulting your doctor and apply minoxidil on the donor which will be beneficial....

The extraction pattern doesn't look good, but it doesn't look awful either. There's surely some amount of shock loss involved as well. Your donor might not end up looking great, but it will definitely get much better than it is right now.

Thanks for the clarification and input everyone, it means alot. I was not in a good headspace yesterday. I've come to terms with the fact I got a pretty bad HT. I've been a carpenter for over 15 years so I feel I've got a good idea of how to judge quantities and what looks pleasing to the eye. I definitely feel like they must of thrown out about two thirds of the grafts harvested, especially when taking into account the doubles and tripples.

Anyway moving along. If I get a haircut/fade to try and hide the donor area I think it would probably just highlight it at this point. I think it would be best to just let it grow out, the longer the better?

I did get the bottom of my hair trimmed up by my barber a few days ago (not shown in previous photos). This is so I can wear a cap and it hides it pretty well. Aside from trimming up the unharvested hair on the bottom of the donor area, I don't know if anything else would help?1000001712.thumb.jpg.f04f6aadcc85af263296ca3fd1fc0b9f.jpg

I got in touch with  Dr Kongkiat Laorwong and he basically told me I have to wait ten months before he will even really look at it.

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I have tried to find a solution to fix this.

Do you guys think  Dr Kongkiat Laorwong would be able to perhaps extract hairs from my donor area to add density and fix the front? Then I was thinking he might be able to fix up the back with body hair as I will keep that area short and the difference in hairs would be more subtle?

Again thankyou all for your help so far, this group has really helped pull me from a dark place.

kind regards.

I think your best option is to grow it out for a few weeks/months. Try and get rid of the redness and inflammation, hydrate, avoid direct sun exposure, don't wear a helmet...

Here are two pictures from my post-op, after 2 and 6 weeks: the shock loss was still there, but much less noticeable. So don't worry too much for the moment,it will get better!

Unfortunately you went to Hair Mill. A Vitamins and Hair serum spray for 765€  is just a rip off. That's why it's really important to have a thorough research before Hair Transplant.

Right now the only option you have is to wait till 12 months. Your donor does look over harvested but it can also be some shock loss.

Lets wait till 12 months and then decide what needs to be fix.

Your hair in the 6 week pic looks like it was never harvested. Nothing to worry about.

That’s not the OP though, he’s only recently had his HT
