Yeah good topic and what you say makes sense. Of course I wouldn't want to damage any new growth at this stage so being cautious. Let me know if you find out any info thanks man

Just checked my post surgery notes and it says no hair dye for first 3 months20230303_174431.thumb.jpg.7d8d014917b85b253219dfdb2f3e899b.jpg

Interessting, it goes in line with what I think.
It seems De Freitas is highly strict when it comes to his own transplants which doesnt seem to be a bad thing.

Also out of curiosity how did you get the extra days at the hotel and how much you paid for it?

Yeah he is very strict with post op and wants you to follow his instructions to the dot.

I got an airbnb the extra days after surgery. Not sure what the hotel would charge, sorry

I am booked in for June and I was told that it would be safe to fly out back to the UK post surgery. I am only afraid for bumping in to anyone so am considering staying a couple of extra days as precaution but not sure atm. It scares me to death just the thought of it.

If travelling back straight after surgery frightens you then don't do it.

Cheapest to book your hotel or airbnb in advance

Yeah I will try and see if I can book in a day or two maybe.

Because I do acobwledge that I have a bit area that will be filled with grafts so I may book one or two extra days and maybe fly out on the third.

2 MONTH UPDATE.

Nothing exciting to report and just playing the waiting game. Most of my recipient redness has gone and just some pale pink remains. Had my first hair cut 9 days ago, Left the top alone and number 2 clippers on back and sides. Next month I'll be able to colour it which will be great and give me a better feel of how it will look. Wouldn't mind the grey so much but my grey is patchy, if it was an even salt and pepper or grey all over it would bother me less.  Anyway, glad to have some hair back.

I'll start with the clinic photos which I got a few weeks ago, and then the selfies are from today (surgery was 1st of Feb). All my selfie are taken at the window and in daylight.

I guess it is a matter of personal taste. Personally, I prefer the more conservative approach. But as your over 40 and on medication the more aggressive approach which you prefer was reasonable for you.

@Mike10 Thanks. Agree that if I wasn't on meds or was younger I would have played it a bit more safe. But been stable and on meds for a long while so think and hope there will be no more loss.

I actually still have quite a big forehead so it doesn't look that aggressive in real life haha

3 MONTH UPDATE,

Last haircut was on 25th of March and I had number 2 clippers on the back and sides, the growth you see is from then, not had any of the top cut since surgery. Just had it coloured with an ammonia free temp colour, so it isn't my normal shade, but happier I can now cover grey. Will get my hairdresser to use a permanent colour in a month or two. Just wanted to be a bit more cautious, although post surgical advice just stated no colour for the first 3 months, didn't say anything about ammonia free or temp colours.

Hair is now at a length on top that it can cover most of the recipient transplanted hair. From a few metres away and favourable lighting it looks great. But looking closely you can see its still very early days. I've always had really thick hair and this has been a godsend. Since starting the oral minoxidil post surgery my beard and my eyelashes have become so much thicker. Previously my lashes were almost invisible but I've now had people ask me if I'm wearing eyeliner or mascara. I can feel the hair on my head is even coarser than before, crazy effective for me.

What you see of my new hairline has been mostly grafts that didn't shed, although there is some small amount of new growth and I can feel little sharp stubble hairs now, fingers crossed it really kicks off soon. My left side is stronger than my right.

Just need to continue playing the waiting game and trying not to look at it constantly.

4 months and 10 days update. Pretty happy with how things are going at this stage, Although Still a good bit to go.

My front/right side have always been lagging and patchy, thankfully it's slowly starting to fill in. The transplanted hair is still whispy and thin and I think some hairs have only started to pop through in the hairline. The oral minoxidil has made my already fairly thick native hair incredibly thick and its that, that's giving me good coverage for the style I'm wearing just now. I'm wearing it forward like a French crop, although I've no styling product in any of the pics, so excuse the uneven fringe. May change the style soon because the minoxidil is making my hair so thick that even only 2 weeks after a haircut and being thinned out, its really thick again and looks like a wig floating above my head.

I've taken pics right at the window in bright light and you can see where its still got a lot to go and I've taken pics indoors in natural lighting where it looks really good.

Donor area has been shaved with clippers to a 1.5.

Other than that I'm pretty much trying to get on with life and not look or think about it too much.
