HT in one sitting vs multiple

Hello,

I had a question and thought i would ask the members of this group- I have seen certain clinics like eugenix do 5000 graft in one sitting whereas certain docs/clinics do not do it instead they do it in multiple sittings. Whats the rationalization of this..is doing it in one sitting bad ?

At HDC we do 6000+ sessions with 3 days of surgery, every day we do around 2500 grafts without go too deep with the punch, of course these mega sessions are only for patients with very strong that won't be overharveste.

If a candidate has low donor quality, we won't recommend a mega session.

I dont think its a good idea to go for a giga session ....evn if ur donor permits why shud we go with such a huge session whr if anythng goes wrong with the surgery thn u will loose so much of grafts that even a repair would get almost impossible ....better to go with a conservative approach even if u go with an elite surgeon...cause thr is always a chance tht a surgery cn go wrong as many factors are involved in that...thts just my thinking ...

Dr Zarev also does mega sessions and he is as elite as they come.

Different surgeons have different approaches and the approach also will vary from patient to patient depending on their characteristics.

No one size fits all with HT's.

Do you want to put all your eggs in one basket?

You could do 10k grafts in 1 go or 10 grafts in 5. If the gigasession goes bad, all 10k will suffer, if you do 5 smaller surgeries, maybe only one goes bad, and 2k grafts suffer . But you have 5 surgeries so 5 times more chances for it to go wrong. So I’d call it a wash.

with one surgery your spending half a year for results. For 5 surgeries you’re spending half a decade, since clinics will often ask you to wait a year before getting another surgery. Add in travel costs, recovery and all that.

You could do one big session and then come back for refinement if you want to tweak the design or fill in a weaker area.
