Thanks for posting, JD Jones. I'm curious, would you think you've been graying due to the HT? I made a thread about such possible effects here

I've being going  grey since I was mid to late 20s,I'm 44 now.

I was dyeing my hair in any of the before pics in this thread and also my other 1st ht thread.

You're not supposed to dye it after ht for 6 months (some doctors will say 1 month or 3 months but Dr B says 6)

I may dye it again in a few months when safe to do so or I may continue with the silver fox look!

I'm not sure there's any correlation between having a procedure and going grey.If you were beginning to go grey around the back and sides (which is the most common way) then those hairs were implanted to the front or midscalp I could see how somebody might think they were more grey after ht for sure.

You'd think that. I did exact that, but when transplanted on to the top of my head they were dark brown. Not quite sure how that can happen!

Very quick update at just over 9 weeks.

The magic is starting to happen.I was lucky enough to be a quick sprouter first time around and same seems to be happening this time.I was hopeful this would be the case as I was also an early shedder.

Update at 12 and a half weeks.

Everything going well and ahead of schedule I'd say.

Lots of hair grown in on the midscalp, even if it stayed like this now I'd be happy there.Still some small spikey hairs so it's going to get thicker. The crown as is to be expected is slower but plenty of hairs growing there and lots of spikey ones getting ready to bloom!

Also forgot to ask. Dr Dr Bisanga prescribe you oral minoxidil?

Thanks @Gatsby

I was on oral minoxidil for about 6 months before this surgery and continuing on it now, previously I was on topical for 3 years.

I'm on 2.5mg and won't go any higher. The results are great with oral minoxidil but I get palpitations, dizzy spells, face goes very red from time to time on it.Ill most likely be moving back to topical at some point this year.

Thanks for the heads up @JD Jones. Yes I have also found oral minoxidil beneficial after months of applying it topically. I'm fortunate in that I am taking 5mg oral with no known side effects. Not the same unfortunately when it comes to finasteride. All the best!

@JD Jones would love to message you about this but as a new member I think that’s why it’s not allowing me! In Ireland also and considering making the trip to Bisanga.

Happy to answer most questions here but I think after a few posts you should be able to pm (not exact on that ) maybe somebody could advise....

Thank you. I’m just Wondering if you were with solely Bisanga or if you went with the Bisanga/Kostis duo procedure? If just Bisanga, do you mind if I ask you what the price per graft was? If you did the duo procedure, were you worried about this at all? Also, had you had any consultations here in Ireland with any alternative clinics before deciding on Belgium?

My first surgery was all Bisanga except 20% of the extractions. 2nd surgery was 100% Bisanga, just to note that at his clinic this means he designs the surgery, does the slits/incisions and extractions, there is no package where he does the planting. This is done by his techs, the two working on me on my last surgery had 40 years experience between them and the vast majority of that with Bisanga.

As regards the pricing it depends on lots of different factors and I'd advise to consult with Ian (Bisangas rep, also on this site) on this.

I would have no worries at all going  for the Bisanga/Kostis combo,Kostis has worked and trained under Bisanga for years.Having met with and dealt with Dr Kostis several times at consults and surgeries I'd have full confidence in him.

I only had one consultation in Ireland,I'm not sure if I can name them here but it wasn't Blackrock or Dr Nel .Too many red flags to mention at this clinic and more or less the same price as Bisanga. The only place I'd consider in Ireland would be Blackrock but at €10 a graft nobody could justify going there. You can get the best in the world for less than that. There is no equivalent to Bisanga or similar elite level surgeons in Ireland.

Hope this helps.

I’m pretty sure I could guess the ‘red flag’ clinic in Ireland but I’ll say nothing either!
Were you able to get the tax exemption in Brussels?

It was 2018 when I had that consultation, a few other dodgy clinics have popped up here since.Ireland really isn't the place to get a ht.

Yes,the exemption was easy.

That’s really good to know, 21% is a huge saving.

Actually, is the quote they give you initially per graft inclusive or exclusive of tax I wonder?

You'd need to firm up with BHR but I think price quoted doesn't include the VAT.Again best to contact them, very easy to deal with and very informative. The rep I (and many others on here dealt with) Ian is on this forum and one of the main reasons I went with Bisanga.

Just a quick update.

I notice I had dates slightly wrong on some previous posts by a week or so,apologies for that.

This is exactly 15 weeks today.

The magic is well and truly under way,the midscalp has grown in really quickly buy still plenty of little spikey ones ready to bloom. The crown as is to be expected is slower but still good progress in that area at 15 weeks.

I'm not sure if it's my own physiology or Bisangas technique but I was an early grower after 1st ht with him and seems to be the case this time aswell.Im very grateful for that.

The first 5 pics are taken today. The 2nd last pic is before this transplant, the last pic is a side by side comparison

I don't really plan on doing weekly updates but my wife (who has heard enough about hair over the years!) took some decent pics,I can't get good ones myself of the top of my head, she also has a much better camera than me.

Here you can see hair brushed a few directions and it give a really accurate view of things.Im at just over 16 weeks.

If you zoom in on the crown you can see new hairs popping through and I can feel the spikey ones.

The last pic is the day before surgery.

Looks great, nice result! Quick question, I am thinking about a hairtransplant for years. But I noticed your 1st hairtransplant which at the end of the topic shows it got you a nice new hairline. On the start of your 2nd transplant photos it looks from the top view photo that the hairline was not there anymore (compared to the last photo of the first hairtransplant). While they always say that transplanted hairs would stay forever right?

I definitely lost ground between my first and 2nd ht,they were 3 years apart.I was trying for a kid with the Mrs at this time and couldn't take finesteride, I lost a lot of native hairs during this time.

It's quite possible the case that if I had stayed on finesteride I wouldn't have needed a 2nd ht.I was comfortable with a bit of a bald spot.

For example pic 1 is 8 months after 1st HT

Pic 2 is 3 years after 1st HT
