Are you on Finasteride?

I am not, but im really considering it. I am afraid of side effects especially now that i will plan children soon.

The most noticeable difference will be seen at 9 months post op...so hang in there and yeh please keep your expectations in check and be reasonable as only 3141 grafts has been used to cover a big area and thats why the density will be modest but will frame your face well....best of luck and keep updating ..

Very rarely is it at 9 months the majority of growth happens. But there is still time for improvement as only 6 months in

From my experience in most cases the most noticeable difference i am seeing is around 9 month mark...6 months mostly its at around 60% mark..though there are lots of individual cases and opinions about it...

While it likely wasn't enough grafts for the area, it definitely looks like a lot of them didn't survive for dinner reason.

I hope your are a late bloomer, but its definitely concerning.

I am also concerned about this. I knew 3160 grafts and it is not enough to cover the area, and i will need 1-2 procedures more. I am confused atm as the hair are quite weak and honestly expected better result. Also i am thinking why do i have some holes in my hair like there, i didnt have it before. I dont want to sound negative, just confused.

My family noticed it too:

I don't think you're being negative, those grafts should have made a bigger difference and probably should have been consigned to the frontal third only, with mid scalp and crown attacked at a later date.

It does look like you had a patch there before surgery though?

Also, is there any reason you're not on finasteride and minoxidil? I think given yuour level of hairloss you need to be quite agressive with the meds/treatments.

Yes, as soon as possible, i will go on finasteride, i was advised from doctor to do not take finasteride some months before i plan to have children

Have you reached out to Gurs clinic recently?

This does seem a little sparse for the amount of grafts. Yes it’s a large area and may have needed a second pass anyway but I’d also be inclined to say at this stage there should be more noticeable progress in the frontal region.

I'm not sure I agree. The surgical plan is pretty much identical to (I was a straight Norwood 5 so slightly more native hair) and the density was adequate.

Taking finasteride now is not going to save your hair transplant.

If you were advised to not take it (as you are planning to have children) then why not just wait until after you get your wife pregnant, before getting on it?

You already had patches in your donor area before the surgery. But they were been hidden with long hair. I think your donor was quite problematic before the surgery which might be the cause for the progress so far

Well i was also with doctor Gur. Currently on 3 months.

left in february

no minoxidil no finasteride

surgery done first week of may

currently on 1mg fin and 5mg oral minoxidil daily

and medical therapy does help

i would recommend start with minoxidil it would thicken your hair but it s a tough call without finasteride

if you are scared of side

try starting with 0.5 mg daily

This area can be seen to be quite thin in one of the first set of pics you posted.

I'm kind of surprised, for 3100 grafts you guys tried to cover a very large area. Even still, I would have expected better yield at this point. You still do have lots of time left to grow though. What was the discussion like when you and Gur were planning the surgery? Did you request you wanted the 3100 grafts spread out to give some density all over?
