Regular Member the1337caravel Posted December 17, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted December 17, 2022 Hello! I'm 25y right now and started losing hair 8 years ago (when I was 17), mainly around the corners / temples. Rest of the hair is still relatively thick and strong. Started doing minoxidil by the end of 2020 (when the corners started to look rounded instead of "tringular"), noticed my hair got stronger/thicker in general without any side effects, and I stopped losing as much hair as before, so that was nice. Decided to go for a transplant since meds would not really help recover what I've already lost around the corners, and I plan to start finasteride in the next month. Wanted to share the progress so you can give me your thoughts! My immediately post-op pics are a bit blurry because I didn't put much effort into taking them while in the clinic, sorry about that. The only "concern" I have is that even though the post-op pictures show the grafts themselves, I don't have A LOT of scabs as many other patients have. The clinic said it's mostly related to me not bleeding a lot after the procedure (or the blood not getting "stuck"/dried around the grafts because of the continuous spraying around the area after each 20min throughout the days) and it looked fine to them, what do you think? My donor area is really fine, recovered very well for 4 days already, I have some pictures but will not share them here (at least now) to avoid a longer post. ps.: "right" means >my< right, same for "left" = my left. Grafts Breakdown I: 173II: 963III: 719IV+: 92Total Grafts: 1947Total Hairs: 4624Avg. Hairs per Graft: 2,37 Hair Pre-Op Plan Pre-Op - Together with the clinic we decided to go somewhat conservative with the transplant as I'm young (no side temporal work for example), so the main idea would be to cover the corners and add a bit of density all around. As you can see, near the "Less Dense" line, I still had hair, so the idea was just to increase a bit of density there (might be why I feel there is not many as scabs?). Doing somewhat of a gradient from the "Denser" line to the "Less Dense" as at the start of the "Denser" line I had no hair, but I have some hair when you reach the mid/later third of the area, and definitely have hair when you reach the "Less Dense" line. Don't know if you all understood what I mean, I can try to explain it later if needed. Immediately Post-Op (Day 0) - As I said, they are a bit blurry. In my opinion, they did a very good job with the hairline and I'm very happy with that! I can see the density of grafts here, even though not as visible with scabs afterwards, so that's why I'm not really concerned with that. 1 Day Post-Op 4 Days Post-Op (First wash at the clinic): - As I said before, it doesn't look like I have a lot of scabs (at least for now), and I've seen many other patients with waaaaay more scabs. I can see some black dots in between the scabs anyway though. What do you guys think? Happy to read your opinions! Will try to share the progress afterwards! Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted December 17, 2022 Administrators Share Posted December 17, 2022 Hard to say by these pictures. I like the hairline design. I think lowering density as you move backwards makes sense if you have more native hair towards the back. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. Regular Member the1337caravel Posted December 18, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 18, 2022 Hey guys, I prefer to hide the clinic's name until more results so I don't give them either "fake praise" or "undeserved hate", I think that's reasonable but let me know if that's against the forum rules. And thank you all for your feedback / comments! 😃
Regular Member the1337caravel Posted December 20, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 20, 2022 Little 7 days update after a few daily washes! Some scabs are falling off, and I'm able to see more hair coming through! Seems like my scalp is not experiencing a lot of redness, so I'm happy with that too. The future is bright! Regular Member the1337caravel Posted December 28, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 28, 2022 15 Day Update: Not much to add besides the fact that I started finasteride this Monday and that I can notice the shedding starting during showers. Also my hair is naturally very "spiky" when short, so doesn't matter the angle I look at my head, the direct viewing angle (camera for example) will always make it look thin until hair actually grows. (You can notice it with the picture from Top View for example). Next update is going to be at the 1 month mark!

I did it in a clinic (Insparya) and not with a specific doctor, aka a "hair mill". Everything done by a single technician that had some years of experience, other two technicians helped sorting the grafts and an actual Doctor who did the whole anesthesia process throughout the surgery and examined my hair before the surgery too. I knew the risks associated with it, but had 3 different friends with amazing results there, so I decided to pull the trigger during my end-of-year vacation as my working calendar is very chaotic and I'm travelling quite a lot. I hope people won't come here to bash me about it, the risks, how it was luck, how it could've turned bad, etc. I knew the risks associated with it. The whole after care process was very good with clear guides regarding everything, they were always ready and fast to answer any doubts and assist me with whatever I needed, either through emails/calls. Sorry to disappoint many of you for not being able to recomend an actual Doctor, or whoever was expecting me to mention famous portuguese doctors too. As I said, I'm really happy with the results and with the whole process and I hope everyone is able to have succesful transplants no matter where they do it. Regular Member Anon94 Posted June 27, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted June 27, 2023 It's turned out fine, so no reason to berate you. I simply asked because these posts are more helpful when the name of the clinic/doctor is given.
