Do you feel this statement is true?

By month 4 approximately 40% of the hairs have penetrated the scalp, 50% by month 5 and roughly 60% to 70% of the hairs should have made an appearance by the end of month 6. At the end of the 9thmonth you should be able to see 90 to 100% of the transplanted hairs”

???

I know it changes from person to person, but in many blogs here it looks as though by 4 months around 80-90% had already popped through the scalp 🧐🤨

The answer is everyone grows at different rates. Averages and statistics mean nothing to you as an individual. Maybe you grow quick, maybe you grow slow. It depends on your own physiology. Never listen to anyone who speaks in absolutes, there are no absolutes in surgery.

Yan Bio,

To be honest, I don’t think it’s overly constructive to put a percentage next to each month in terms of how much growth one is supposed to experience because as you said, everybody is different. I typically tell people that new growth only starts between 3 to 5 months after surgery. While 50% of the newly transplanted hairs may have broken through the scalp, they may not even be visible to the naked eye as most transplanted hair start to grow in thin, fine and colorless. You can feel it with your finger tip but not necessarily see it. But as the hair grows in, it will thicken, dark and immature. And each hair grows in at different rates.

That’s why it’s a lot better to look at a hair transplant as a whole and just understand that it’s gonna take 12 to 18 months for the hair transplant to fully grow in and mature.

Best wishes,

Rahal Hair Transplant
