Senior Member Petchski Posted August 8, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2022 Hi all, I want to wear my hair in a shorter style, which means going shorter at the sides. I recently buzzed the back at a grade 4 (1/4) i think, and you kind of see the outline of the scar. It's not super obvious, but it's there... if i go to grade 3 or lower it will be visable. I thought about SMP, but i think FUE into scar would be a better long term solution. - plus, i'm going grey now, so i'm not sure how that would work, especially if my hair goes white and the dots are a darker colour. So far, i'm thinking Dr Lorenzo or Dr Ferundi in Belgium. There's not an awful lot of FUE into Strip scar photos out there, but i know it can be succesful and if i can buzz my hair down to a grade 2 or 3 without it showing, i'd be a happy man. Any one with suggestions, advice or experiences with hiding strip scars? 1 -------------------------------------- My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Feller Dr Feller Jan '09 2000 grafts Dr Lorenzo Dec '15 2222 grafts
Senior Member Parasol Posted August 8, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 8, 2022 I had 300 FUE grafts placed into my scar, which was stretched quite a bit, by Dr. Maras at HDC and it came out great! You can see my donor area in my thread if you’re curious.

The grafts are a bit “chunky,” so I think a trained eye could still find the line if they were looking for it. But all in all I love that I don’t have to think about the scar anymore. And I think the survival rate was damn near 100% (in my opinion, not counted by the doc), when I was told anything over 80% in scar tissue would be a success. Definitely thrilled with it! I’m not sure if Maras works with beard grafts though. @Doron Harati ?
Senior Member Doron Harati Posted August 9, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted August 9, 2022 (edited) @Parasol, thanks for the kind words, we're glad you're happy with the result. Yes at HDC clinic Dr. Maras use beard grafts as well which can be used to cover FUT strip scars. You can see my donor area in my thread if you’re curious. Hi Parasol, Thank you for the response. - I have checked out your thread. Congrats on the good result and the new woman in your life. Your hair looks good, especially after a year when the transplanted hair had time to soften. I can't make out the scar in the post op photo posted above. It looks to me like you had a great survival rate for the grafts. Can you cut it shorter than a grade 5 without it being seen? - Before my FUE i could do a 4, but now a grade 5 will be a safer length, which isn't that bad really. You know, when i was reading your thread, i couldn't help but see the similarities. I also got slack with Fin some years later and i stopped using minox. I lost density and that's why i got another HT with Lorenzo. I never got back on minox, but i've been consistent with Fin ever since. We also have a similar head shape, scar, and beard - Only mine has a growing amount of white hairs in it! Since making this post, i've also started to look into frexel laser that could help with the appearance of the scar and then get FUE. See this photo from 2014 of Frexel that i found online. In order to get the best result possible, it might be worthwhile me doing this and then getting FUE. The thing is, i'm sure a grade 5 will cover the scar and i could settle for that, as it is still pretty short, and save myself the bother and expense, kicking the can down the road, so to speak, if i decide i want to buzz it all off, like a grade 2 and hope that it will work out well. I have recently seen some great work by Dr Umar, where this has been possible, but of course, results may vary etc. 1 -------------------------------------- My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Feller Dr Feller Jan '09 2000 grafts Dr Lorenzo Dec '15 2222 grafts

I find it’s still a bit frizzy, especially after a blow dry, but some conditioner and pomade really softens it, makes it easier to style, and helps with the illusion of density too. I realize I didn’t document my scar too much here, so below I’ll add some photos. The first three are before’s and the last two are after’s. Both with a grade 5. My scar stretched a lot and was visible below an 8 grade. I’ve cut it down to a 4 and you still can’t see it (a trained eye probably can but I can’t). I haven’t tried to go shorter, but I think I probably could. I’m very happy with it. I checked out your thread but didn’t see any “final” photos from your op with Lorenzo. How’s it going now? Still holding up? Edited August 9, 2022 by Parasol

Any one with suggestions, advice or experiences with hiding strip scars? Hard no on Lorenzo. His clinic has changed a lot since you went. It’s a mill now and his results are not that great nowadays. Techs even take part in implanting. You’re in the UK so I would personally start with bisanga and see what he says.

I thought i'd added some 10 month post op, but i must have done that classic thing of being happy with the results and didn't update the blog, or maybe i posted them in my thread....i can't remember for sure, it was a while ago. I am still happy with the transplant result from Dr Lorenzo, i healed well, and the had a high growth rate. I have searched my computer for photos post op from Lorenzo and i can't anything, i think i lost those images, but, i have found an photo post op from Lorenzo of my donor area showing my strip scar shaved down and i'll upload some current photos of my hair now. 1 -------------------------------------- My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Feller Dr Feller Jan '09 2000 grafts Dr Lorenzo Dec '15 2222 grafts

Senior Member Petchski Posted August 11, 2022 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 11, 2022 I took these under a bright light and with the flash on. I have lost some density since the last transplant in Dec 2015, so it did look better originally, but i doubt i'll get anymore transplants, other than filling in the strip scar. on one of the photos i can see the scar, the last one. -------------------------------------- My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Feller Dr Feller Jan '09 2000 grafts Dr Lorenzo Dec '15 2222 grafts

I definitely don’t think you need another transplant! The thing for me, because I considered just working on the scar first, was justifying shaving my head, getting a whole FUE done and not just do the top also while I was in the chair. Granted, I was in a much much worse spot than you when I did my scar, so I can definitely see myself doing exactly what you’re thinking (just doing the scar) if I was you too. Thanks again for the photos. Your hair looks really good.
