Regular Member NOMORENORWOOD Posted June 26, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted June 26, 2022 In the summer when it is really hot outside sometimes I like to wear my hair shorter almost like a buzz cut so I’m not getting sweaty long hair in my face all day. Of course everyone scars different but on average what is the lowest guard an FUE patient can go after surgery before scars become noticeable to the human eyes? Senior Member SimpleLife Posted June 26, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 26, 2022 With an elite surgeon I would say 1 guard is possible.
Senior Member BaldReaper Posted June 26, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 26, 2022 With manual extraction and small punch you can be good with 1 guard

So basically anyone recommended on the forum is gonna allow 1 guard? Impressive really because 2 guard is usually the furthest I go when I do fades but was just wondering if that would ever be possible again

It appears just the lingering redness but I guess I don’t know what your hair looked like prior to surgery. How many grafts in total have been taking from donor? Senior Member pkipling Posted June 27, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2022 The quality of this photo isn't great (it's literally just a screenshot from a video lol), but this was taken just a couple of days after a recent haircut. I do a no-guard fade at the bottom and for all intents and purposes, I think it's pretty undetectable by the naked eye. It took a bit of an adjustment for me to get used to it in the beginning since we can be our own worst critics and I was worried it looked "off", but every barber I've had for the past 7 or so years has insisted that nothing looks out of the ordinary or alarming, so I confidently roll with it. 1 I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. Rahal Hair Transplant
NomoreNorwood, it’s definitely possible to wear your hair as short as a number one guard without showing any real signs of scarring. Obviously, this depends on a number of conditions including donor density, how many grafts were harvested, number of hairs per graft, hair color to scalp color contrast ratio etc. Below, see a few examples of donor areas shaved down after extraction These are all Dr. Rahal patients. Senior Member Fue3361 Posted June 27, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2022 Just as important as the scarring I’d say is how homogeneous the extractions were. If the surgeon did a great job and you scar well, could do a zero guard and look great. Check out my journey here:
