Which clinic to choose in UK....help please

Hi all

Thank you all for sgaring these valuable information and experiences with others. I have been suffering from hair loss for the last 8 years, I am now 32 and decided to have a hair implantation surgery here in UK. I have read a lot about many clinics and visisted some, but ALL of them promise the best results and a head full of hair. One of my friends had a bad experience with a clinic in birmingham, that is why i need to be very carful in choosing the clinic.

I need you all to help me in choosing a good reputated clinic, with resonable cost in UK. I would like to know some PERSONAL experiences with some of the UK clinics. Any advice will be greately appreciated..

Thanks...

High-Spirit,

I disagree with the above advice. There is plenty of evidence that Dr. Bessam Farjo and Dr. Nilofer Farjo are producing results on par with leading physicians in the United States and Canada.

Several of their patients have posted their results online, the most prevelant of which are "Fallenstar" (see his blog) and "Balody" (see his blog).

You can also view several examples of their work on their profiles (above) or in the Results Posted by Leading Hair Transplant Clinics section of the forum.

Our Publisher Pat Hennessey also personally visited their clinic and observed them in surgery. To see the highlights from Pat's visit, go to Photos from May Visit to the Farjo Clinic.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Bill

hi high?!! icon_biggrin.gif

as Bill has already mentioned i have had two succesful ht,s with the farjo,s and am even considering having another.

there are a few of us on here who have had work done by farjo and all have had good experiences.

do a search for all the guff and pic,s.

as for other uk clinics there is no-one posting on here or any other forum in fact about their work.

have you any more info on your current situation i.e norwood scale or even better some pic,s?

one thing i will say is avoid the names that are in the back of the mens mags, they are notorious for sub par results.

good luck.

Hey high spirit

Firstly I'm concerned that you are limiting yourself to the UK , this contradicts the number 1 rule of hair transplantation

NEVER LET GEOGRAPHY DETERMINE YOUR CHOICE OF SURGEON .

I'm from the UK and after 2 years of research I had dealings with two UK clinics , I was less then impressed with Dr Roger's and his clinic , very unprofessional over the phone and I wished to have nothing more to do with them .

I also had a consultation with the Farjo clinic , as polite as the Mick and Dr Farjo where , I guess we were not on the same page and I left disatisfied .

I did alot more researching and relised the best and most consitant results are in north America and Canada , and knowing I was going to have to live with this for the rest of my life I wanted the best results possible .

After researching I felt confident enough in my choice of surgeon to place my complete trust in Dr Feller in New York .

I think the results speak for themselves , here is a link to my 15 month progress

I hope that helps

Hello high spirit.

I suggest you go through this process:

1. Reflect on whether this journey is for you. Have you tried buzzing down your hair? Are you prepared for all that comes with HTs - the expense, the "hair greed" (see other posts), etc. Believe me when I say that it is much better to have no procedure at all than to get it done by a clinic whose main virtues are lower price and closer location.

2. Try medical treatments and see if they make a difference first. The only two treatments that have proven results (although they don't work for everyone) are minoxidil (regaine) and finasteride (propecia or proscar).

3. If you still wish to go for an HT, seek a number of consultations and ask lots of questions. Farjo is a very good clinic, and the only one in the UK that this forum recommends. Avoid Norton, Hospital Group etc. You could look into European clinics as well, e.g. Devroye. As Richie says, don't let geography determine your choice. I would add the same about price. Of course money is a factor, and the recent fall in the value of sterling does make the US and Canada less competitive in price terms than they were this time last year. But that is where, in the view of many of this forum, the world leaders are based. Petchski, Richie and I are all from the UK, we all researched the issue extensively and, as you can see, we all chose to go to the US (in fact, we all chose the same surgeon, but he is certainly not the only world class one out there).

4. Keep researching. You can never do too much research into the issue. It's a big decision and you need to weigh up the pros and cons. Like all surgery, it can have tremendous benefits but it is not without risk.

Good luck mate.

I went to Transmed in Turkey and its cheaper than UK - cost about 80 quid to fly out with easyjet and you can get rooms for about 30 quid per night in decent hotels.

Three of us from the UK have been there since May and we all post here. ( and probably many more who dont post ! )

I would echo what the guys are saying and don't restrict yourself just to the UK. Use the forum to research as much as posiible before jumping in.

I travelled from the UK to Dr Alexander in Phoenix and his office made it so straight forward, it was a piece of cake. Many top US clinics also offer travel incentives to help with flight costs.

Cheers
