Dutasteride lotion 0’1% Dr. Mwamba

Hello everybody.  My name is Javier, I am 42 years old and I am from Spain.  I would like to briefly explain my experience with Dr. Mwamba's dutasteride lotion at 0.1%.

I have had several hair transplants in my life, some of them with terrifying results, which caused me to become depressed.

I used oral finasteride from 2001 to 2008 because I suffered from side effects (low libido, concentration problems, apathy).  Since 2008 I have not used any medication for hair loss.

I only Intend to share my experience to help others and to be absolutely honest about.

I have been suffering from alopecia for many years (since 2000) and I am very skeptical about the treatments.  There have been many years of disappointments, false promises, etc.

When I was 25 years old, experts said that soon a pill would come out that would stop hair loss (sammumed, cb-0301, Sar Plus, DMHO, etc.) and after 20 years we continued with finasteride and minoxidil (this one never did. I have used).

4 months ago I underwent my last intervention, grafting on the scars from my first interventions (my first three surgeries were in 2001, 2003 and 2005 and at that time the FUT technique was used because the FUE was beginning.

In this last intervention I met a patient who was using various treatments against hair loss.  He takes oral finasteride, oral minoxidil, vitamins, but he told me that since he started using Dr Mwamba's dutasteride lotion he did notice good results.

After talking with him for several months and seeing his comparative photos I decided to try the lotion, although as I have told you I am very skeptical.  I have always thought that antiandrogen lotions work because there is systemic penetration, which would lead to side effects.

After much thought, I decided to try the 0.1% dutasteride lotion every 5 days.  I have been using it for 3 months and have not suffered any side effects of any kind.

As for the hair, I have not been able to notice less loss because I am shaved at 0 (I shave every 3/4 days).  But for a few days I have the feeling that my hair is thicker, darker.  When I run my hand over my head, I notice the prick of the short hairs, but in the crown area I feel the soft area because the hair is weakened, but now I have the feeling that it pricks more.

I know that many of you will think that this is my first forum post and that Dr. Mwamba pays me to say this.  I am not going to argue with anyone and I do not intend to convince anyone.I have been reading this forum for many many years and just want to add my grain of salt as gratitude to others.

I only intend to explain my experience and I intend to be absolutely honest with the lotion.  For now it is working for me but it is too early to say openly that the lotion works.

I will continue to use the lotion to check that it is still working for me and I will post photos.

Great to hear that's working for you. I still got some sides from that same product but looks like just the answer for some. Just be carful about applying too frequently or it'll accumulate cos the half life is ages

Interesting. Two questions if you don't mind:

1. What sides did you get, and how often were you applying to get such sides?

2. Also, how often do you apply now? And have the sides from topical dut totally gone? Thanks!

I enquired about this product - and the clinic/pharmacy replied to me with the following;

Dr Mwamba advises you to use a full dropper or 2ML twice a week for a 4-week period. After 4 weeks if side effects are present it can be decreased to 1ML twice a week for four more weeks. After this point it can be increased to every other day or three times a week. For maximum benefits it is advised to combine with once-a-week Dutasteride Mesotherapy 0.01% with micro needling at 0.5mm to 1mm and Oral or Topical Minoxidil 10%. Medication should be applied directly to the scalp and be left there for up to 4 hours or overnight.

Given 2ml would equate to 2mg dutasteride - I would assume applying this once a week to be  substantial enough a dose for efficacy, as it is not too far off the oral dosage of 3.5mg per week.

Mainly trouble with Erections and orgasm. This was just on one ml a week.

I've taken a break for now and exploring other options

Also - the difference between leaving it on for 4 hours, and leaving it on overnight, leaves for quite a large margin of disparity. What have users tended to have been doing?

I've never heard open people leaving it on for just 4 hours. Do you mean that as in they wash their hair after?

Yea, that’s what the clinic instructions were.

I use the one from Strut in USA and I wash my hair after 3-4 hours after applying. Its for different reason though as I cannot keep it on while sleeping because of aroma/smell in the vicinity. I was wondering the same. Is applying overnight better than 4 hrs. But to compensate I apply 3 times a week.

Hows the efficacy? 0.1% solution, 2ml application?

Have you noticed any benefits though, Hair gains ?

Difficult to say as I had a hairline transplant 9 months back and the hair texture is improving so it maybe just regular transplant improvement cycle. The crown I can see minor improvement. I have decided to follow the regimen for at least 4 months before looking too much into improvement. I am happy that it is easy to apply, no headache (I got from alcohol based solutions) and the smell is not bad. Will update the progress in a month or two

The minimum it should be left on is a few hours so it blocks 5AR activity on the skin

The easiest for me is over night but if you wash it out after a few hours it's fine.

I have used this on and off for a few years now and my advice would be 1-2ML once a week at 0.1%. Systemic rate is quite low.

It either works or it doesn't at that dosage and doing it 3 times a week or daily is just looking for side effects.

In theory you can apply this every 15 days or less as well.

Thanks for your answer.  Are you using the 0.1% dutasteride lotion?  Is it Dr. Mwamba's lotion?  How often do you use it?

I have been using this lotion since mid October and I have not noticed any side effects.  I think that since I am 42 years old I may notice fewer sexual side effects.  How old are you?

I apply the lotion at night and wash my head the next day.

Yes it was Dr Mwamba's 0.1%. I'm 28 but my sensitivity to 5aR inhibitors is quite high and maybe my scalp absorbs more than some.
