Senior Member latinlotus Posted February 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2009 Dr. cooley used the lasercomb on me the day after the surgery. But i don't really think it does anything (good or bad). ******** I am not a doctor. The opinions and comments are of my own. Senior Member mmhce Posted February 18, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 18, 2009 "Does it help?" Depends on if you believe it helped you before. "Any effects or side effects?" "Does it damage the transplanted hair or grafts?" Immediately after surgery, transplanted hair follicles are susceptible to UV radiation. At 3 weeks I think they should be fine, although some recommendation is to protect the scalp from radiation of a month. "Has anyone ever used the lasercomb after surgery? " I haven't. take care... Senior Member new2thissite Posted February 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 19, 2009 Ammars27--- I used the lasercomb prior to my HT. Can't say that it grew hair, but it seem to give me the appearance of fuller hair when I used it. I liked what it did for my hair. I stopped using it several weeks prior to my HT and have not gone back on it yet. Will, however, at some point. No side effects. Senior Member Dr. Mohammad Humayun Mohma Posted February 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 20, 2009 Ammar One more thing before you go on to laser combs, as new2thissite said it gives you a better look and feel. But It has a limitation and like any medicine it might not work on some one. So what I say is , if you can afford to loose US$ 300 once in a life time than its worth it. There are few small pilot studies showing that it can improve, but limited improvement. --- I am a medical advisor to Lexington International and Hairmax. What ever I say is my personal opinion. Senior Member AMR1 Posted February 20, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted February 20, 2009 From what I have researched on line the Hairmax Lasercomb is the only product that has been clinically trailed and approve by the US FDA board Below is there cutting from advert: FDA 510(K) Cleared for marketing for the Promotion of Hair Growth The battle against hair loss has two objectives: 1. Stopping hair loss 2. Promoting hair growth. This is a difficult task, but the Clinically Proven and Patented Technology of the HairMax LaserComb can help you meet the challenge. In fact, the HairMax LaserComb is so effective that it is the only medical laser device proven to work and FDA 510(K) Cleared for marketing for the promotion of hair growth.* This gives many hair loss sufferers, previously unable or unwilling to turn to drug-based solutions, newfound hope in their battle. Fortunately, treatments using the HairMax LaserComb are easy to administer, only 10 to 15 minutes three times per week, and the laser device is convenient to use in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Learn More at HairMax.com *Medical indications for use: The HairMax LaserComb is indicated to promote hair growth in males with androgenetic alopecia (male patern hair loss). No prescription needed. Senior Member Petchski Posted February 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 20, 2009 The laser comb is only FDA approved for SAFETY, not because it works! There is no proof it works. That's why here "*Medical indications for use: The HairMax LaserComb is indicated to promote hair growth in males with androgenetic alopecia (male patern hair loss). No prescription needed. Senior Member Dazed Posted February 25, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 25, 2009 Before anybody spends money on the LaserComb check out http://cgi.ebay.com/Laser-Max-90-Lasers-For-Hair-Loss-Comb-your-hair-again_W0QQitemZ250359112135QQcmdZViewItem The lasercomb is very overpriced and takes much too long to use it to see any results. It is all about how many Joules are delivered to the scalp and the lasercomb is pitifully underpowered. I have had a LaserMax for 2 weeks and I don't expect to generate new hair growth, but I have heard quite a few testimonials that it does improve the quality of your hair. The LaserMax treatment is 20 minutes every other day. You would spend hours a day with the lasercomb for the same delivery and you would have very sore arms.
