Regular Member JoeFromFrisco Posted December 1, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted December 1, 2021 I have been using saw palmetto, castor oil and peppermint oil on my donor area to help with the itching and healing process, it does help. Can I use saw palmetto and castor oil (Hairmetto oil) on my transplanted area? I had my transplant and two weeks ago.
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted December 1, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2021 I would wait until the grafts shed to start applying ointments to the scalp. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. Cheers, Do you know how long that normally takes? I have been shedding a lot. Every time I wash and conditioner my hair, I see about 25-50 hairs. thanks
Rahal Hair Transplant
There is no need to apply anything to the recipient area unless of course you are trying to alleviate itch or discomfort there as well. In my experience, aloe vera works quite well in helping with this. I also don’t think there’s any need to wait for the grafts to shed however I would certainly wait until the scabs/crusts are gone. Make sure the area is healing properly by sending him/her pics. Do not apply anything unless they mention it is ok. That’s Just in case if something else triggers and itch. Usually, some docs may prescribe hydroxyzine tablets if there is an excess itch or allergy. Good luck
