Sightnitseen
Quick back story, around 25 years old I payed for a FUE transplant. Which I regret getting so young, now 32 years old I lost more hair. I am nervous about what to do next, I know a FUE gives me limited coverage since I’m limited on the amount of grafts I can get and eventually I will run out of my donor area. I then thought FUT will get the job done, but I’m scared about the noticeable scarring in the back, I kind of like having skin tight hair. but I know I can’t unless I wanted the scar to be visible. When I grow out my hair it’s very thin/fine so it still might be visible. I then thought get the FUT for coverage then FUE to conceal the scaring. I’m African American and when I go on some doctors site, I don’t see them showing experience with curly hair. I’m in Washington state and ideally would like to stay in stay but Im pretty sure I will have to get the procedure out of state again. also with going bald, I tried it. I completely shaved it. I have noticeable punch hole scars, and tiny bumps scars. But it’s not physically bumps to the touch, it’s weird. So that’s like my last resort. The pictures below is the length I like my hair, but when I grow out my hair the crown is thining, the front as well. And the middle is thining but probably doesn’t need a transplant. My temples are also thining but doesn’t need a transplant any advice on what to do next? Thank you Edited October 9, 2021 by Sightnitseen My age when I received my first treatment
Senior Member Britanium Posted October 9, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2021 Have you ever considered meds ? The usual Fin/Minox combo could really help you in the long run keep what hair you have now progressing any further. Speak to your own Dr regarding this. Secondly how many grafts did they do for your first FUE and who was the clinic ? Most clinics wait until at least the patient is 25. When it comes to Afro hair then the Drs doing the best work are Dr Bisanga, Dr Mwamba, Dr Lapunzula, Dr Feriduni and Dr Diep. It’s Important to choose Clinics who have the tools and experience to work with Afro hair.
Sightnitseen
I actually my an edit to my post, I was wrong about my age when I had my first transplant. I search my gmail and saw the exchanges were in 2014 which would make me 25. I went to Dr. Diep and had around 1750 grafts that were place in the frontal area. I tried HIMS Finn and I felt like the side effects were getting to me. In the mornings I was not erect. I stopped and the problem stopped. I recently tried the topical version and samething happened so I stopped. I recently saw that other things could attribute to that. I found most success with Rogaine and shampoo/conditioner hair vitalizer but stopped rogaine to try fin. i attached some pictures of the before work and I haven’t seen these in awhile and I guess I came a long way. I’ll check out those doctors as well. Thank you.
Senior Member Curious25 Posted October 9, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2021 You could quite easily bolster your frontal third area where you have experienced further loss - how many life time grafts did Diep say you had back in 2014? SMP would also be a great option for you, I feel.
Senior Member Britanium Posted October 9, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2021 It’s pretty good for 1750 grafts. Afro hair usually requires less grafts for coverage. Maybe go back and do another consultation with Diep ? Review your situation, see what’s left in the donor bank 👍🏽
Sightnitseen
@curious25 I’m new here so idk if I’m supposed to @ people lol . But I don’t recall getting that amount of lifetime grafts. I was speaking with Dr Cooley staff in Charlotte, NC and that was something his staff was looking at but they did not give me a figure but said I would qualify for the FUT if I wanted. But I did not get to speak to the DR directly just his staff. I was looking into the SMP, but that I guess was the second to last option SMP/bald but I was concerned about how it looking in lighting. Sightnitseen
@JohnAC71 yes Dr Diep website shows he does great work. So does the donor bank matter more or less with an FUT & FUE? I would think if I was getting an FUE it would matter more than the FUT. Am I correct in that thinking?
Senior Member MachoVato Posted October 9, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2021 (edited) I would consider getting a consultation from Dr. Mwamba from Belgium. He does procedures in Atlanta once a month, I believe. I don't like his website, but it's an excellent doctor. https://www.mywhtc.net/home Edited October 9, 2021 by MachoVato 2 HLC Ankara | 4261 Grafts | Nov 7, 2020 (Hairline) Dr. Bisanga, BHR Clinic in Brussels | 1528 Grafts | Aug 12, 2021 (Crown and Temples)

Maximising our donor would normally be starting out with FUT and then FUE afterwards. Our donor area will differ from person to person. Having only had 1750 grafts so far then you should definitely have more left to give for a second FUE. A FUT May be noticeable, probably a better option for you would be another FUE and then some SMP. FUT scars can be anything from pencil thin upwards, no guarantee to which we will end up with.
Sightnitseen
@MachoVato yes his website isn't the best but I do see he’s recommended and does great work as well. I’ll looking into him being in Atlanta as well. That would work better.
Sightnitseen
@JohnAC71 I appreciate that, I did see the scar differs from person to person and maybe even keloids could arise. I guess my best bet is getting back on Rogaine immediately and try another round of FUE. These pictures were just in January. I guess I got to keep this up. Senior Member MachoVato Posted October 9, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2021 @Sightnitseen Read this thread about a donor area repair transplant by Mwamba. It's a great case study.
