Fue grafts after 2 months

Recommended Posts

Hello, it's been 2 months since I've had an fue. I can feel these tiny bumps in my scalp which I assume are the grafts. Some of them fall off in the shower with a hair follicle attached to a bulb of dead skin. They can be easily messaged out the scalp but I'm not sure I should be removing them.

Anyone have any insight on what to do?

Thanks in advance.

Unless there's blood you didn't lose a graft.  Most likely it is just dead skin attached to a shedding follicle.  All part of the process.

Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008

Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013

Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020

It's more than likely fine as your grafts are pretty secure after 7 - 10 days. If you are really concerned, please contact your surgeon as they are the expert.

It's hard to get a good idea of the size of the follicle in the photo without a reference point - and as you mentioned, it appears to be looking larger (and therefore more alarming) than it is.

I will echo what Hybonix said in that at this stage of your process, it's literally impossible for grafts to just fall out, and anything you're experiencing is most likely natural shedding. Even after the first 72 hours of the procedure (which are the most crucial), those grafts are mostly locked in... And by Day 10 - and especially by Day 14 - those grafts aren't going anywhere.

Typically, the newly transplanted grafts will completely shed within the first few weeks, but sometimes they'll hang around longer and shed much later. Did you not have an early shedding phase? If not, then that would most likely explain what you're experiencing here. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much. And as always, stay in communication with your surgeon so that they are kept in the loop about this, and should there be anything alarming or out of the ordinary, they'll be able to address that.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the support. I too think it's just natural shedding of some of the left over hair which did not shed at the 4 week mark - albeit 2 months and 1 week later.

Take care, God bless.
