Regular Member baldforalongtime Posted April 24, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted April 24, 2020 When is it safe (if ever) to use a self tanning lotion on the scalp post transplant? I'm 1 month post and starting to use Jergens Natural Glow on the face, but the front scalp is starting to contrast in it white glow.
Senior Member hairlossPA Posted April 24, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 24, 2020 you shouldnt really be putting anything on the scalp/recipient site for a good 3-6 months post op. with that being said, every surgeons post-op instructions are different, so I would refer to that if you have documentation
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted April 24, 2020 Administrators Share Posted April 24, 2020 I’m curious why you would need to put self tanning lotion on the scalp? I definitely wouldn’t put anything with harsh chemicals on your scalp at all. I just used self tanning lotion for the first time last week. I wouldn’t trust using that on my head ever. Regular Member baldforalongtime Posted April 25, 2020 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 25, 2020 I started using self-tanning lotion on my face last week and the contrast with my scalp is noticeable. I don't want to risk anything, so I'll just wait and hope the transplant hair grows in.

Senior Member HTHope Posted April 27, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted April 27, 2020 Personally, I wouldnt want to risk anything irritating my scalp or somehow affecting my transplant so I'd stay away, at least in the short term.
