Cocoh23
Hi, I’m 20 years old and my hairline is already at, what I believe to be a Norwood 3 or possibly even a Norwood 4! I don’t want to have to get a transplant, what are my options? Please help, I don’t want to be bald at 22 :(
Senior Member LaserCap Posted August 30, 2019 Senior Member Share Posted August 30, 2019 A couple of things...You have dark hair and light scalp - the contrast is not helping and it makes it seem worse than it is. Seems there is a lot of miniaturized hairs. This miniaturization can be reversed. Talk to the doctor about PRP. Ask specifically how they do it. Perhaps they have photos of results. The second thing to do is to do all you can to retain the native hair and not get worse. Propecia, Rogaine and laser therapy are the other modalities we typically discuss when dealing with this debilitating issue. Talk to a hair transplant professional about them. What specific questions do you have? Many in this forum can help you.....
Senior Member Mycroft Posted August 31, 2019 Senior Member Share Posted August 31, 2019 Finasteride and Minoxidil particularly are extremely easy to get and fairly inexpensive if you use generics. PRP is also a good option, but probably more expensive which may or may not be an issue for you at your age. Where do you live? Have you done any research regarding hair loss specialists in your area?
LonelyGraft
You need to look into medical treatment to see if it’s right for you. Read up on the “big 3” which is finasteride, topical minoxidil, and ketoconazole shampoo. These are the three treatments that have the most proof of stopping/reversing hair loss. make sure your scalp is in a healthy, non inflamed, non flaky state. try and reduce as much stress as you can and not focus too much on hair loss, it can really become an addiction if you let it. good luck
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted September 5, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2019 It’s tough, definitely appears norwood 3 category. Good news is you’ve caught it early. Try the big 3 as previously mentioned, but also try dermarolling with minoxidil. I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic.
