Senior Member uncjim Posted March 21, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 21, 2009 Hi All, It's been 14 months since my last and final repair procedure with Dr. Wong. We were able to harvest an additional 1614 grafts, bringing me to a grand total of 6788 grafts over three surgeries. This, in my opinion, is somewhat of a miracle, considering the depleted condition of my donor area, due to the many ancient punch grafts going back to the late 1970s through the late 1980s. The attached pictures detail my last procedure which focused on the punch grafted nape area, the corners of the hairline (particularly the part side) and the crown. I've updated My Weblog which details my history. Please visit it often with family and friends. Thanks. Senior Member uncjim Posted March 23, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2009 rtc, Yes Sir, it really has been put to rest. I know some have seen my situation as kind of like being hooked on the process, but that's never been the case. The one thing hanging over my head (no pun of course) was the donor area repair. The additional in the crown and corners of the hairline were a true bonus. I'm loving it. A "swirly" and beer would be great. I still feel bad about backing out of that first gig. Spex, Back atcha' my friend. You've been a great help and inspiration to all of us. Dr. Jerry Wong
Jim, Thanks for posting. Keep taking your Proscar! The nape hair result turned out excellent as well as the crown and temple work. It's been a long journey and I'm very happy for you but please don't let me find you coming through my doors again unless it's just to say hello. You look great! Senior Member uncjim Posted March 23, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2009 Dr. Wong, please don't let me find you coming through my doors again unless it's just to say hello. So this is it huh? How am I supposed to break this to the family? It's all there for me now from the Elvis Temples all the way down to the rejuvenated nape. I couldn't be happier and you and your magnificent staff has made that possible for me. You're a great surgeon and I'm a lucky guy. Senior Member uncjim Posted March 24, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2009 its752, Ahh..sculpt. I like that. While I don't want to give the impression of an old guy trying to turn back the clock, I just may go there. Thanks for the compliment and the styling advice. Regular Member conan Posted March 24, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted March 24, 2009 Hello Uncjim. Was the last surgery FUE or strip ? How did Dr wong manage to get more graft out of your almost depleted donor ? Thanks C
Senior Member uncjim Posted March 24, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2009 conan, The old plug work wasn't done via strip, but with a punch instrument, which resulted in my donor area being filled with circular scars. This didn't affect the elasticity of my scalp, which happens to be quite good. This allowed for the 3 strips. The strip, due to the scaring, yielded far less grafts. In my opinion, if my scalp had been untouched, the strips would have yielded 50% more. Senior Member Jotronic Posted March 26, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2009 Jim, Every time I look at those nape area plug scars and how they filled in from the last procedure I just get a really big smile. Super happy for you, Jim. Senior Member uncjim Posted March 26, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2009 Joe, The area improved dramatically after the one year mark. At this point, 14 months, I'm not convinced that things aren't continuing to progress. I'll still wake up in the morning with the expectation of seeing the nape hair separated and the punch scars exposed. It just aint' there and I'm loving it! This has been a very big deal for me and you were there from the beginning. To have had it taken care of has given me a huge sense of relief. I know you appreciate that. Thanks again Friend. Great results, you're set for life, and do us all a favor and keep posting. I'm thinking of going to Shapiro next, hopefully a year out (7 years at that point from my last trip to HW).
