Regular Member cyrilhan Posted April 13, 2018 Regular Member Share Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) I am 20 years old. i have been losing my hair for the past 6 years, it never stops. my dad is bald but he started to lose his hair when he was 28, for me it started when i was just 14. I am on finasteride now,have been on it for 2 months now and i know it's too early to judge. I need an advice. I am deteriorating psychologically and i am really too depressed. I have no life and no confidence at all. What norwood is that? 4 i guess? are there any other medications i can still consider? will finasteride help? Is a Hair transplant an option for me? Is there any hope i can recover some hair on medications? or just maintianing would be the maximum? It’s hard to sayw without seeing your photos. However, you must allow at least 12 months for the finasteride, I would also include minoxidil as they both work synergistically. Senior Member gillenator Posted April 13, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted April 13, 2018 Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) are the two FDA approved meds for treating MPB. It certainly is understandable about the psychological challenges in losing hair. I actually wore hair systems for 11 years before I had my first HT procedure. Continue doing your online research and hook-up with some of the other guys here, especially younger guys close to your age. They will be able to relate to what you are going through. The bottom line is to wait and see how the meds work for you and as you educate yourself online, you will be able to sort things out better and eventually come to some decisions. Also consult with several of the recommended doctors within this community for their wisdom and advice on how to move forward. Medication is of the utmost importance at this time as you must arrest the loss before you can consider surgery. If you do not, you will continue to lose more hair thus rendering any procedures much less effective. You should consult with specialists in your area and even send out for online consultations to get various opinions, but nothing should be done until you see how medication works for you for at least one solid year. Senior Member Legend007 Posted April 19, 2018 Senior Member Share Posted April 19, 2018 U a receder around a Norwood 3 heading to Norwood 4 .. but u lucky cuz u still have thick dense hairs where u haven’t receded .. stay in finasteride to retain those hairs n keep them thick .. or they going to miniaturized n disappear.. a good hair transplant will give U back what u lost..
