Post-transplant, after a few months when it looks bad, why don't people just shave it down to the lowest number they can get away with without showing the scar (in the case of FUT)? If you were to shave it down to match the transplants the scar would be visible, obviously. So that would mean your donor area would have to be a 2 and your recipient area would be a 1.
