Advice needed!

Recommended Posts

Been a lurker for sometime on the forum but in need of some advise.

Been suffering from hair loss since 22 years of age now nearly 29 and feel it's about time I did something about it as it's wearing me down. I have been taking fin for the last 18 months which has helped greatly as I feel would have shaved it all off by now if I hadn't started.

My main concern is my frontal area and temples for a better frame. I really want a hairline back ha

I have had number of consultations with uk based clinics but didn't get a good feeling with each of them and not many reviews out in the world.

I know it shouldn't but cost is factor due to getting married In the next 18 month, which is also reason why I want a HT

I have looked into tech clinics but feel it's too much of a risk.

Consultations with top clinics in Belgium, Spain but the expense is too great.

I have had conversations with Doctor Saifi Poland and advised 2000 Grafts and read some good reviews on this forum seems very ethical. Just worried that I won't the density I desire and don't want to feel a year down the line that I need another one soon after. Any thoughts?

I am considering Turkey now after what's gone on over there seems to have calmed down and know a few people that have traveled.

Spoke with Dr Erdogan but unable to get me in due to the time I can get off work.

Also spoke with Dr Dognay who recommended 3000 grafts. I have read a few bad reviews but seen a lot of great work by the doc over the last year or so on this forum and others and is more hands on which I'm looking for in my doc I choose. Thoughts?

Anyone else I should consider?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get on finasteride immediately, especially since you appear to not have the budget to pursue a transplant just yet. Stabilize your loss and take preventative action against progressive hair loss continuing.

Hair loss patient and transplant veteran. Once a Norwood 3A.

Received 2,700 grafts with coalition doctor on 8/13/2010

Received 2,380 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 9/30/2011

Received 1,820 grafts with Dr. Steven Gabel on 7/28/2016

Just be careful. Some Turkey clinics have patients lined up in a room with Syrian refugees doing the work. No, I am not being sarcastic.

There are good clinics. Go with a clinic where the doctor does the work.

Hi Valgreats,

Why you are writing such BS? Could you please provide a reliable source of your info?

Thanks!

First, don't let people scare you about FUT. For many it is the better surgery. Not saying FUE is bad at all, but these boards tend to be very hostile to FUT and most FUT scars are very, very hard to see. Posters tend to minimize FUE risks and overstate FUT risks.

Second, I am not sure you need HT at this point. Maybe consider maxing out medical options first and try to spare yourself surgery at all.

Thinner15,

Welcome to our hair loss and restoration discussion forum community. I just wanted to chime in briefly to state that I wouldn't rule out FUT/strip surgery. Don't get me wrong, FUE can be great under the right circumstances, but so can strip. The scar won't necessarily show depending on how short you plan on wearing the hair on the sides and back of your scalp. Of course, even FUE scarring will show if you wear it too short. Thus, it's important to do some research on this forum and even our websites www.hairtransplantnetwork.com and www.hairlosslearningcenter.org. By doing this, you will learn a more balanced view of the pros and cons of both strip (FUT) and FUE.

Best wishes,

Bill

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the replies got caught up in xmas and new years.

I have considered FUT and nearly proceeded with it. But do like my hair shortish on the back and sides and worry about further down the line If i need to buzz it all off and the scar will be visible.

Still talking to other docs on your recommended list hopefully make a decision soon.

Hey Thinner,

I was in a similar boat to you a few years ago before my frontal third really started to thin out. I tried minoxidil and saw palmetto on the temples and I saw a lot of regrowth after a few months (I ended up quitting minox due to not wanting too many processed chemicals on my body). I tried Fin, and had regrowth too but saw a few side effects in the form of cystic acne.

I would say 3000-3500 would be plenty of grafts and will also help cover future hairloss in the frontal lock. Dr. Edrogan was my first pick, but due to cost and timing wasn't able to get in. Back in the day I looked at Dr. Dogany but I saw quite a few questionable results and reviews on here (and those are subjective to the person and circumstances, they may not have followed post-op or may have been something with the clinic) and that put me off personally. The biggest thing I would say is really do your research and speak to a lot of clinics until you find the one that has the results and the communication you expect.

12/2017 - 3500 Grafts- Dr. Emrah Cinik
