Senior Member Shampoo Posted December 1, 2017 Senior Member Posted December 1, 2017 I know this subject has been discussed in the past. Are there any hair transplant patients that after having their hair transplant at some point began Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)? From what I understand Testosterone Replacement Therapy could accelerate the loss of native hair, but would not affect transplanted hairs that are resistant to DHT. Are there any patients on this forum that can relate any experience with a hair transplant and Testosterone Replacement Therapy? Regular Member dan26 Posted December 1, 2017 Regular Member Posted December 1, 2017 Can't personally relate but I'd say you should at least be on fin and preferably dut if you are on TRT. First and foremost for the extra DHT being created via the T spike and second some guys hair is actually sensitive to T aswell. It should not affect your donor hair unless you have DUPA.
Senior Member Shampoo Posted December 1, 2017 Author Senior Member Posted December 1, 2017 Thanks Dan....btw....what is "DUPA"? Senior Member Markee Posted December 2, 2017 Senior Member Posted December 2, 2017 I've been on Hormone replacement for over 10yrs already twice weekly Testosterone and HCG . Been loosing my hair slowly over the past 30yrs it's hard to know if it's the TRT or just genetic age related lose maybe both ? 58 now and in the past few years my hair loose seems to have accelerated now to the point where I've gotten desperate enough to go back on Propecia not good the stuff is what messed me up in the first place and got me started on the TRT to begin with so not happy about using it again Anyways when I first started it blood work showed my DHT levels were high at 120 and dropped to a super low of just 13 after starting Propecia 1MG a day
Senior Member Baldrick101 Posted December 2, 2017 Senior Member Posted December 2, 2017 I take Testogel everyday and apparently the gels/creams cause DHT to go through the roof. I take 2.5mg per day of fin to combat this and it works well for me. I tested serum DHT at 1.25mg per day and it was still too high so I doubled the dose under advisement from my endocrinologist. From what I understand, the injections do not spike DHT in the same way, but I don't like needles and the gels work well for me.
