Can someone please clarify this for me?

Hello everyone. I am 22 years old. Back in November of 2014 I shaved my head with a guard 5. My family told me that my scalp is visible specially under bright light. Then in May of 2015 I shaved my head down again with a 5 and my scalp was still the same. My hairline hasn't changed at all. I feel as if I have lost density on certain parts of my scalp. If I don't shower for say 3 or 4 days and my hair becomes oily the right side of my scalp becomes sort of visible but right after a shower my hair becomes super thick. My hair is quite longer now. The pictures you see are all from May 2015 and under bright light.

My question is would it be possible to get a Hair Transplant to gain a bit more density and fill in those thinned out spots? I was thinking about visiting Dr. Erdogan Koray as from seeing his before and after pictures and some members here having uploaded pictures of their results I really like his work.

Apology for the low quality photos this is from a movie my friend and I made and it's the best photos I could find with my head shaved down with 5. I will upload pictures with my hair a bit longer in a while as well just gotta find them.

Must admit the photos aren't great , your still very young for a transplant . Do you have balding in your family ? I'd go get checked out for signs of miniaturisation and if you are thinning in what looks like it could be a diffuse pattern then prevention may be better than a cure i.e.: meds

If you do want to go see a specialist don't go to Vinci or belgravia etc go see a surgeon , dr reddy or dr ball are here in the uk

Thank you for your reply. I do have balding on my dad's side of the family. Only one of his brothers hasn't gone bald. My father lost his hair when he was around 27.

But my mom's side of the family all of my uncles have kept their hair and they are 45 to 50 years old. I actually have my mom's side hair type thick and black where as my father had brown fine hair. So you do think I am balding?

Pics aren't great like stated above, but it does look like you are experiencing a diffuse pattern loss.

This means that you are not receding, but you are having diffuse miniaturization throughout, at a pretty equal level, and you may even retain more hairline than top.

You should go see a trusted surgeon that is recommended on this board to be diagnosed, but your best bet for keeping the hair you have over the next 10 years is to get on finasteride as soon as possible.

Finasteride is excellent at stabilizing and helping you keep the hair that have, but not so great at bringing back the hair that you have lost. So, the longer you wait without stabilizing the worse off you will be hairwise. I have seen a lot of people that got on fin whose biggest wish is that they could go back and get on it when they first saw that they were losing.

But the thing I find weird is the fact that my hair has not changed since 2014. I shaved my head down for the first time in November of 2014 and from then to now it has not changed at all. And the second thing is that when my hair is longer like it is now everything is fine though when my hair becomes oily my hair looks weird and disgusting once I wash my hair and my hair dries it looks outstandingly thick.

here's my opinion. if you think you are balding then you probably are. you are the best judge of your own head.

I noticed that I was losing hair 25 years ago (at 22yo) and I slowly slowly thinned out since then. I knew I was balding and I went into denial at first then depression then accepted it and fought it. it took me 25 years from the point I noticed I was losing my hair to when I got my hair transplant. My hair loss was weird. I would lose hair for months then it would stop for very long periods (like a year or two) and I thought I wouldn't lose anymore hair but then another shed would start.

I think you have time but you can make some changes now like rogaine or fin or adding healthy fats, anti inflammatory diet and slow down what is going to happen.

it sounds as though mpb could quite well be within your family history so I'd definitely go get checked out , with some better photos and even some wet hair pics I think it would be quite easy to see if there is a diffuse pattern developing and if there is medication could work wonders for you . My hair also looks much fuller when longer as does most peoples especially those with general thinning .

Get some better pictures ideally with wet hair and see what people thoughts are , if you do eventually want to get some medication I can put you in touch with dr edgar who will prescribe your meds here in the uk

If you do have diffuse loss I would highly recommend the meds as well, I am a diffuse patterned loss guy myself and I had my hairline done but started meds roughly 6 months before my op and it's now a year on fin. I was fairly steady prior fin but I haven't lost a step since I started and have actually grown back a good amount in the crown. Dr Lorenzo told me in his experience diffuse losers usually respond better than average to fin and I am definitely an example of that and you may be as well.

I forgot to mention something. First of all no one in my family ever lost their hair diffusley. But what I forgot to add was that back in 2013 I became very very sick and couldn't eat properly at all. I lost 10KG weight. After that I began to notice more hair shedding. That has been going on till now though my shedding increases and decreases. I am still quite underweight as well. I am 22 but only weight 56 KG. I researched a bit online can this be telogen effivulim?

Was your weight loss thyroid related ? Did you have to take some sort of steroids ? Either way I'd go see a specialist i.e. Dermatologists or transplant surgeon before making any decisions

Thank you for your reply again. Actually after visiting so many different doctors I was finally diagnosed with Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS). I would get cramps and feel nauseated and couldn't eat properly. In the past month though I have started eating properly. I have been eating a daily portion of red meat and chicken either for dinner or lunch and taking omega 3 and vitamin C and I must admit that my hair shedding has decreased dramatically.
