Long time lurker seeking advice before going ahead

Hi

I've been reading a lot a while before posting and posting uniformed. I've been to two consultations so far with completely opposite results.

If you could be so kind please to add some experienced knowledge so i could be a little more straight what to believe. I am after fue transfer. I have a current regime of regaine foam twice a day and Mizoral three times a week and use fillers. No propecia because of the bad effects I hear of affecting testosterone. I go to them gym daily and don't want to mess that up or if I ever get the chance to have a bit of sex lol.

First consultation told me it was not possible for me to go ahead due to small donour area. This was in London by the private clinic.

My second consultant was dr Michael may and he said there was no problem couldn't wait to get started and was considerably cheaper.

I would like to see dr farjo but for the consultation cost I thought it best to get some advice on here first. Any advice is much appreciated thank you

I think your donor looks fairly decent and you're old enough to have it done as you've reached your 30's and you seem to have made your mind up about the meds.

There are a group of very decent hair restoration surgeons in Belgium, such as Dr. Bisanga, Feriduni and Lupanzula etc.

I would start researching these docs and try to get an in person consultation also for a more precise evaluation for your case.

From the pics you seem to be receding all the way back to the crown, so I would do a two-stage procedure the first one to restore your hairline and frontal third then a later one for the vertex and crown.

good luck

Thank you that response has given me a lot of confidence back already. I was hoping to stay in the U.K. For the procedures. So far I haven't found enough evidence to say do or do not take propecia. I don't want to mess with my normal balance

There is also Dr. Ball in the UK for FUE, but I think Belgium gives you more advanced and varied options and it's just a stone throws away.

DavidAnderson on this forum is a rep for Dr. Ball so try contacting him.

Also proepcia does work for most men but the catch is the possibility of side effects which cannot be predicted until one actually tries it.

The evidence in taking Propecia to stop and reverse hair loss is there for us all to see. If I was you I would personally really consider giving it a go and seeing how you react to it. For me it is the only effective way to manage your hair loss for the long term. Your normal balance is what is causing your hair loss, altering is the only way to make sure you keep what you have. It's a numbers game and transplants can only go so far.

I appreciate that some people do experience side effects but there are millions of men taking it everyday with no complications whatsoever. I have been taking it for over 10 years now, no sides and had three children on it.

Deb you have a good point there. I think I better try it. I have advised by a few to take it. But was so worried about the sides. If I did see some and stopped taking it are there cases where they would reverse and go back to normal. It's hard to find experiences where people follow on and give you results after

In my experience you will always see more negative reviews than positive as nobody is interested in commenting if everything is going well.

I'm not advising trying it. You have to decide what plan of action is best for you. I'm just saying that you shouldn't be put off stories of side effects as the majority of people who take it have none. If you do try and have any sides then stop or reduce the frequency.

For me, my hair loss was far more important to me than worrying about potential side effects.

hsrp10- thanks for the mention.

Scotty46- I think the Private clinic have given you good advice you have so much hair still to lose, getting on something to try to stabilise it has to be the answer before considering surgery. You will not replace from hairline to crown if you have a limited donor supply.

Many clinics out there are happy to take your money now and not worry about what you might look like in the future it would be heartbreaking for you just to have surgery and watch all your pre-existing hair fall out.

Thank u for reply David. It's hard to work out what's right and also to take so much information in at once. It's been suggested too many times for me to ignore not taking fin now. I'm so worried about the sides. I think I have convinced myself to take it now but would like to know the lowest dose I can take.

I can see your point about them taking money off me and sending me on my way. I had a final consultation with dr Michael may yesterday and have to say info on the whole thing was limited.

Unfortunately my pm's will not work. I would like to try stay in the uk to have something done I think flying would add to the whole experience not being able to just be home from London in an hour

Thanks

I have ruled out taking fin for years like you. My doctor convinced me though. He told me try it, if you have side effects ,then quit. And most guys don't have major sides from fin.

I believe the standard dose of fin is 1mg a day. I use a pill cutter to cut mine in half, 0.5mg a day.

Only twice I started to notice mild symptoms, so I take a break from it (a few days) and let the drug clear out of my system. symptoms go away. Then start up again.

Fin side effects tend to be overblown and what a lot of people dont appreciate is that your libido will drop off regardless as you get into your 30s and 40s.

I would have a go at taking the pill 3 times a week which I believe to be a good frequency to take it. Maybe start with one quarter of a pill and see how it goes. I had similar worries to you but Mick from Farjo convinced me it was a good idea. Although I do get some brain fog type sides on frequent doses i can get away with twice a week without problems.

Dr Ball seems like a good guy to consider and David too has been around a long time. Never heard a bad word about either. Farjo(s) also a very honest clinic. Pricey but probably not as much compared to the US now that the pound has fallen. Luckily for me the exchange was around 1.65 when I paid for mine.

I would suggest getting some further opinions in person and having someone take a close look through your donor to make sure you are a viable candidate.

.

Hi 1978matt,

Many tend to blow these side effects out of proportion based on little info or because a few had psychological impotence that they blame on the drug.
