Best FUE Surgeon in the United States

Well you will get a litany of the same old suspects but in general a lot of the top top North American guys are known more for FUT than FUE.

Diep is not the most consistent in bedside manner but I see home run after home run and he specializes in FUE. Konior is like Jordan of HT and does quite a bit of FUE but you see mostly FUT cases shown on here by patients. I am not sure how prevalent FUE is at Shapiro. (maybe they do a lot - I just dont see a lot of cases posted here) Cooley I see mostly FUT cases. Hasson & Wong are just entering FUE phase and in cases I've seen here techs do a lot of the work. Rahal does quite a bit of FUE - seen a lot of good work but a few misses in yield too.

I am sure there are some good docs outside of that, that are less discussed on the board - we seem to always go to the same docs over and over. I think Vories is FUE specialist and one of the more reasonably priced in US but Ive seen more bang wow from Diep. And Konior is so meticulous FUE is up his alley. But those 2 guys aren't cheap for FUE so if you have a large case you have to have a few money bags of loot.

Most people will tell you to go to Europe (Belgium) for FUE.

Jan 2016 - 3800 graft FUT with Dr. Konior

NW 5A to 6.

Docs whose results I am most consistently impressed with: Konior, Cooley (FUT), Hasson (FUT), Diep (FUE) (yeah I like the zig zag).

And why do most say go to Europe for FUE?

Because the European surgeons tend to specialize in FUE, actually produce outstanding results comparable with/better than the US surgeons, and charge between 2-5 Euros per graft compared with US $8-12 the US surgeons charge. It really is a "no brainier"

Bottom line, one of the best FUE surgeons in the world is Dr Lorenzo who is in Spain. Very few would dispute this fact.

I also like the work of Diep. But how come he is not IAHRS certified?

I think the top docs in Europe are 80%+ FUE at this point. So if you do something every day you specialize in it. Also techs are very involved in HT in almost all clinics now except for a very few docs who do "everything" but the splitting. So techs who do FUE every day are also important as there is less margin for error with FUE in terms of treatment of the graft. Especially the techs who do extraction - I'd want a clinic where the doctor does the extracting myself but I assume the lead tech overseas doing them have yrs of experience since they do get good results over there with that method.

And all that and it's cheaper there. Especially for Americans - the dollar vs the euro is something like 1.10 now it was something like 1.40 2 years ago - i.e. the dollar has increased in value by about 30% making your purchasing power greater. What was a $14K surgery 2 years ago is $10,500 today etc.

Aside from Diep, and Vories I don't think any US clinic that we talk about that often in the U.S. does 80%+ FUE. You do have some other guys here from U.S. who do a lot of FUE but I am not as familiar with their track record. Rahal in Canada does seem to do a lot of FUE as well but you asked USA.

IAHRS certification is a paid membership that's it, supposedly doctors are put up to a standard of quality, but who oversees the quality? The patients? Simple answer is no, if you have a dispute with a doctor they will ask the doctor to respond and accept the doctors explanation as final say.

At least on this forum, a patient can voice their dissatisfaction provide proof and the network acts accordingly, for example Dr. Doganay used to be recommended here until a forum member brought to light several alarming trends, so the forum discontinued his recommendation until he could provide proof of consistency. However, go on IAHRS and he's still recommended. Additionally, there is a lot of doctors who are recommended by IAHRS that simply do not have actual patient reviews, I was going to go with this Dr. Paul Mcandrews he charges like $9 a graft and has absolutely zero patient reviews yet he's recomended on IAHRS.

This forum takes patients input in to their recommendations where as IAHRS it's basically spencer who decides. I ultimately trust other patients like myself recommendations over an organization with monetary incentives.
