Senior Member don174 Posted November 11, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 11, 2015 Hey y'all, just a question about healing time: When can I start rubbing the scabs off in the shower, and when can I start using minoxidil Thanx
Senior Member win200 Posted November 11, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 11, 2015 Different docs have different timings they recommend, but my understanding is that it's pretty hard to damage grafts after a few days. Maybe Blake can chime in.
Senior Member don174 Posted November 14, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 14, 2015 Hey guys, Today's my post op day 7. Started washing under the shower and massaging baby shampoo with my finger tip pads on recipient site first time today . Few scabs have come, but whatever I see has a white bulb at the end. Any concern for lost grafts. My scalp also looks kinda white, not red Thoughts ? Thanx
Senior Member JohnCasper Posted November 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2015 Be gentle in the shower massaging your scalp. I did this and the scabs sloughing off were like rubbing sandpaper on my head. My head stung a bit afterwards. Just be careful and let the scabbing come off on its own in the shower without any help from you. Just be careful, and best of luck to you. Your grafts should be safely attached by day 7. Senior Member harin Posted November 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2015 Same thing happened to me. I stopped scrubbing and only started scrubbing back after 10 th day. People often say for sure by 10 th day most grafts are secure. Some say 7. So after loosing 10 to 15 hairs like u did. I stopped scrubbing off my scabs till 10-12 days. Senior Member don174 Posted November 15, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2015 Starting wrk day 11, so wanna have most of the scabs off by then since can't cover up. What I described , any concern for lost grafts . Few more scabs today in shower . Planning to use baby oil tomorrow day 9 to leave overnight and hopefully that helps to come off the nxt day in shower
Senior Member farmcat Posted November 15, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2015 From what I understand if you lose a graft there will be bleeding so if you didn't see any you are probably fine. My doctor wanted the scabs off by day 10 but I wouldn't be too aggressive with them.
Senior Member don174 Posted November 15, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 15, 2015 Ya, no bleeding.was just wondering if hairs with white bulbs in the end were normal?
Senior Member farmcat Posted November 16, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 16, 2015 I would bet those are just the grafts shedding their hairs which is normal......I had some small white bulbs/ crusts that shed also.

Senior Member don174 Posted November 22, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 22, 2015 Didn't really get much redness like many other pics I've seen. At this point , looks like I didn't get a HT. That's normal for 2wks?
Senior Member don174 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted November 26, 2015 I had a little bump on my forehead that I pressed and it bled. May have been a pimple. Now it's crusted. Iam day 19 post transplant . Any concern for lost graft? Thanx
Senior Member Britanium Posted November 26, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 26, 2015 I doubt seriously if you have actually lost a graft after this amount of time has passed. They are very securely in place after 7 to 10 days. I would say pimple too.

Senior Member farmcat Posted December 7, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted December 7, 2015 Looks like you pretty much shed your grafts and are now just in the waiting stage
Senior Member don174 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 7, 2015 I've definitely shed in the shower, but can't say I've shed 6k hairs( 3k grafts) . Is that the expectation ?
Senior Member farmcat Posted December 7, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted December 7, 2015 I am not saying you have shed all your grafts, or it is necessary to shed all your grafts, just that seeing sheding grafts is normal and that you are pretty much in the waiting phase right now
Senior Member don174 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 7, 2015 At this point, looks like pre-HT.i guess have to see how things progress in the coming months. It seems like not many people are familiar with Ferreira and the Seager team. Any thoughts on the the work done on me?
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted December 24, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted December 24, 2015 don, Congratulations on your recent hair transplant! Looks like the doc did a nice of planting around your existing hair. I sse you have started finasteride. Great idea. Maintaining those existing hair will certainly add to the result. The work looks good. Please keep us posted on your progress. David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional.
